The navy is such a horrible Stan base name, maybe tied with the Katy Kats :$ This will grow on me I assume. And for me The first single is never my favorite release(minus umbrella) STOP. And if they had released a "We Found Love" Part 2 instead of this mess, you know these same people would be all over it like white on rice. This. Im here for different things.

I see the stans in here praising Robyn for "trying something different" to counter the lukewarm reception to the song itself. You know, it's possible to deliver both a different sound and a quality product. Sadly, that's not the case here. And if they had released a "We Found Love" Part 2 instead of this mess, you know these same people would be all over it like white on rice. This is the only site I've seen that has had a really negative response to it. Lots of other sites are loving it. I wouldn't say it's had a "lukewarm" response overall.

SOME OF US DON"T THINK THIS SONG IS A QUALITY PRODUCT = THIS SONG IS NOT A QUALITY PRODUCT Also I didn't really like WFL. I do not stan for her, I like the song.

I'm used to Britney, Gaga, and Madonna causing this kind of reaction when they release their singles, not Rihanna. I'm loving this. Honestly this type of reaction is absolutely nothing new on Pulse. A lot of people typically don't like her first releases here (until they later warm to them). Case in point: "We Found Love" "Only Girl (In The World)"

Can anyone post this song's current position on iTunes stores worldwide? I don't iTunes installed on this computer. Thanks in advance :) I'm not sure about every country but I've seen it's already gone #1 in Cyprus, Venezuela, Bulgaria, Norway, Costa Rica, France, Portugal, Poland, and Spain. So that seems really really good! :) Other countries I randomly checked: US - #4 Ireland - #4 Denmark - #10 Italy - #3 Canada - #5 Netherlands - #4 Australia - #77 (I think it was just released since it was in the 80s just 20 minutes ago) So...slaying per usual.

Seems like it's being received well elsewhere. @ the first review by Billboard, like seriously, these people must not be smashing them diamonds hard enough before smoking them? "Diamonds" notably slows the electronic stomp of previous lead singles "Only Girl (In The World)" and "We Found Love," instead offering a lush, mid-tempo pool of synthesizers and Rihanna's powerful pipes

It's a nice, easy listening pop song. What exactly was everyone expecting? I don't understand all these posts suddenly knocking her creative input. It's Rihanna. People submit songs, Rihanna records them. What she lacks in the musical composure aspect, she makes up for it with visual contributions. She knows how to make this ride entertaining for her fans. The music videos are always more provoking than everyone else's. She doesn't let it get stale. She's like Britney when she was at her best.

Sorry, but I'm not gonna praise a singer from going from absolute shit vocals to mediocre vocals.
And let's wait until we see some live performances to determine any growth. Rihanna fans tell themselves this same thing every album, yet her live vocals are consistently mediocre to bad?

I personally feel her live vocals improved over the last era. Her performances of We Found Love showcased that for me.

I think it's about time people dropped the 'she's not a good vocalist' argument. She may not have the best voice, but she can hit some big notes and have a great vocal performance, which cannot be said of other pop singers out there. I would say that her voice is not 'steady' though, in the sense that sometimes you can definitely hear some pitchiness, even when she's doing slower songs, but pitchiness doesn't make her a bad singer and many other artists have had pitchy moments in their performances before.

I personally feel her live vocals improved over the last era. Her performances of We Found Love showcased that for me. Her performances of WFL are one of her worst, IMO. Recently, she gave a good performance of 'Where Have You Been' on the finale of AI, but that's about it.

In order to be considered a good vocalist you have to be consistently good and have some range. Rihanna has range but she is consistently bad live. She's just not a "singer". There was a time when her studio vocals made me cringe because she sounded so bad. She sounds decent in most of her songs now but she still can't really sing live.

Which Lana Del Rey tracks does "Diamonds" sound like? I'd like to hear them. I must admit that Rey is squarely in the "don't like the single(s) so cannot be bothered with the album" column for me along with Carly Rae Jespen. So I wouldn't know "her sound" if I heard it.

That note she hit when she was up dancing with Calvin shocked me. I didn't know she could hit that note in a live performance.

I think you should reevaluate your argument because it makes no sense. She's not a good vocalist. Period. "Big notes" do not make a good vocalist. She's also NEVER has a great vocal performance. Perhaps she has, for you, but that only indicates lowered standards on your part.

Rihanna's vocals are by no means up to par with what would be considered "acceptable" by any means, but her backing track certainly shows promise. You never lied. Seems like it's being received well elsewhere. Lol. To me, it doesn't sound like any track Lana's released specifically, it just has a very similar recipe with different ingredients. If that makes sense.

Yea i don't think it sounds like any Lana track in particular, just the lyrics and her annunciation of certain words remind me of Lana.
