Perhaps M5 strategically knows that they typically don't score high impact singles during the holiday season. If you look at all of their peak dates for huge songs, they always appear to be around the Spring or Autumn time: wweb.uta.edu/faculty/gghunt/charts/maroon5.htmSunday Morning, Won't Go Home Without You, Give A Little More all flopped around December/January

While "Won't Go Home Without You" does not have the numbers to back it up as a "hit," I would classify it as one. I still hear it pretty regularly on the radio. In fact, even more so than "Wake Up Call."
The other two, yeah, flops. Although, all three singles weren't exactly the best single choices. I guess that's their trend. Oh, it's winter, time for a meh single choice.

I secretly hope this flops hard and they rush release "Lucky Strike." I secretly hope that happens as well.

^At least 317 spins in the last week. Should be Top 50 by official Sunday update, and possibly by tomorrow

I have no doubts it will at least go top 20, and most likely top 10.

I can't wait to quote some of the people that hated this 'flop'.

I can't wait to quote some of the people that hated this 'flop'. Whether it becomes a hit or not will not change my opinion on this being a bad single choice. The only way it could possibly change my opinion is if it were bigger than "Payphone" or "One More Night," which it definitely won't be.

I never thought "One More Night" would top Payphone in terms of chart success :kii: I get what you say though and I have to admit that I find it difficult to believe, or even envisage, a future in which "Daylight" is a bigger chart hit than "One More Night".

Oh yeah. I mean, this will probably be a hit, but I'm sure it won't be remembered very well, while other obvious singles that are much more likely to be much bigger hits than this are being skipped over. (See: Lucky Strike, Love Somebody, Doin' Dirt, Wipe Your Eyes, etc.)
On a side notw, while OMN did have better chart success than Payphone, it was mainly due to timing. (Payphone competed with two absolutely MASSIVE hits in the forms of CMM and STIUTK). I'd definitely say "Payphone" was the bigger hit. Though "One More Night" was a massive hit too.

I Hope that 'etc.' includes "The Man Who Never Lied" :( lol I definitely agree: "Payphone" Feels like the bigger single to me or at least the one that's going to have the bigger impact in the long run. I just can't see "One More Night" as a bigger single lol.

This has always been a colossal hit to me. I don't think the fact that it's winter has anything to do with the above mentioned songs not doing as well. I actually always thought 'Sunday Morning' peaked higher because it's an amazing song, WGHWY is a favorite of mine but it just didn't work at radio at the time, and GALM just kinda sucked. This should be the one to reach the heights the others couldn't.

Such a bland track from them, but I'll be content if this becomes a hit for them. This is by far their best commerical success on radio & the H100.

I mean, it seems kind of odd to base a single based only on if it's more of a hit than the singles that proceeded it. To each his own I guess. That's not what I meant at all. I think this is as a bad single choice because it's so dull. It's not like the past two singles. It's not going to be remembered when their next era comes along. It's going to have bad recurrency. I'm sure it will be a hit, but that doesn't necessarily make it a good single choice. You have to look at the big picture. Does it further the band at all? No. It's actually a step back as this song sounds like it comes straight from the Hands All Over era. There are much better single choices. Such examples, as I already listed, are "Lucky Strike," "Wipe Your Eyes," "Love Somebody," "Doin' Dirt," "The Man Who Never Lied," and even "Sad." Even if the song becomes a hit, it won't be as big as what the ones I listed (except maybe "Sad") if they were to be released in its place. When you have such stronger single choices to make, why would you choose one like "Daylight"? It just doesn't make sense to me. This is why I also thought "Pound the Alarm" was a bad single choice for Nicki Minaj. Yeah, it did decently as was a minor hit, but it didn't further her at all given the fact that it sounded identical to "Starships" and there were many songs that would've done better in its place.

Well, this is easily better than OMN, but I'm not sure yet how it compares next to Payphone. Need to hear this a few more times before I can decide.
