It's not a country act but Cheap Trick has signed with Big Machine Records: Music RowScott Borchetta loves Rock music and Cheap Trick is one of his all-time favorite artists, in any genre, so this was inevitable. I'm a big Country and Rock fan, but good Lord Borchetta would be better off using BM's resources to promote their signed acts, as opposed to signing one that (likely) won't go over well with Country fans/buyers anyway. He wouldn't sign them for this upcoming album if he thought it would jeopardize his label's resources -- they have enough for their country acts, trust me, especially since this act is no longer a radio act, let alone a country radio act. It's not supposed to be mainly targeted towards Country fans/buyers.

He is just expanding his label outside just country as well.

Yeah, Scott said back in 2010 that he wanted to open up a Rock division of his label group one day (whether or not that still happens, remains to be seen) and that doing something with Cheap Trick was on his "to-do" list, so this was not surprising.

Should probably pay off pretty well because that kind of music sells without radio support anyway, too, and the visibility of Big Machine as a label coupled with the R&R HOF publicity will probably give Cheap Trick their best visibility in a long time. I'm not familiar with their career as a band at all, but after perusing their Wikipedia page, I'm betting their new album should pretty easily surpass the success of anything they've put out since the 90s.

That is very interesting. You know Cheap Trick is pretty good. I just might have to listen to that album.

Y'all there's a new record label that's coming to Nashville soon. It's called Silverado Records. The source is from twitter:

It appears John King is no longer with Black River as of the start of this year. He was moved to former artists on their Wikipedia page by someone whose edit history shows that the majority of their edits consist of similar adjustments for record labels, so I'd take it to be accurate.

That's a shame to hear about John King. I wonder how much the label is invested in Kelsea compared to the other artists not that it's a bad thing I do hope we get some new Kellie Pickler music soon.

I mean Kane Brown is still a 'free agent' isn't he?

I'd rather have Kane Brown stay off a label his music just doesn't make me excited and I would rather have other acts signed to Black River.

He'll sign with whomever will make him a priority and give him the best "equity" in the contract, something smaller labels are able to provide more easily. The deep pockets of Black River would allow them to promote him and with the success of Kelsea, they have proven they can do it. I'd rather have Kane Brown stay off a label his music just doesn't make me excited and I would rather have other acts signed to Black River. Yeah, because clearly labels are going to ignore his sales success and airplay on SiriusXM just because you don't get excited for his music, right? ;)

Seriously his music bores me. I know it doesn't matter but his music just does nothing for me.

^ Which is absolutely fine. But clearly he's connecting with someone to sell hundreds of thousands of songs.

Black River will be adding to their roster in 2016. Since the label hits so close to home here, I wouldn't exactly be the biggest fan of Kane Brown being signed to Kerr and Pegula's label but his success can't be ignored for any label looking for an act that will be successful.
I personally think Kane Brown's vocals are brutal. "Used To Love You Sober" is an instant station changer.

I agree with you on that and he's definitely far from the next Luke Bryan. His voice is extremely rough sounding and it's something that would be a better fit for Rock music. He's no Justin Bieber either. Just cause he's become well known on social media, it does not mean he is the Justin Bieber of Country music. Also by the way Bieber became famous on YouTube, not Twitter.

I don't believe that they will be breakout artists, sure radio might be interested in them for one single, but I don't believe that they will be huge. Brothers Osborne, Maren Morris, Brooke Eden, and Granger Smith are more likely to break out in 2016. Brothers Osborne and Granger Smith already have a top 10 hit. And Chris Stapleton and Chris Janson have a huge year ahead of them.

Kane Brown is awful. Like, really, really awful. I don't understand the appeal he's gotten. Not only is his voice totally rough, but he's also like completely unattractive, too, so I'm especially confused, lmao. I hope he doesn't become the next big thing because... ew.

I'm not sure thats a very reliable source. The same person added Sister C to the Sony/Columbia page.

Jerrod Niemann may no longer be with Arista, as discussed here. We'll wait for the Sony website to update first to see whether that confirms it.
