YOUR ONE-DAYS: It's a fair bet that Taylor Swift's Red will inhabit the #1 spot yet again next week--and likely through the end of 2012, if we're shaking up our Magic 8 Ball properly. Meanwhile, here's a peek at the week's key debuts:
Bruno Mars (New Elektra) 140-160k Game (Geffen) 75-80k Green Day (Reprise) 55-60k Music of Nashville (Big Machine) 40-45k Glee Cast: Christmas, Vol. 3 (Columbia) 35-40k Big Boi (Def Jam/IDJ) 25-30k Jenni Rivera (Fonovisa) 25-30k Lifehouse (Geffen) 15-20k
Now, if you'll excuse us, our morning mug of eggnog awaits. It's the only thing that makes the voices stop. (11/12p)

That's really bad for Big Boi. And Lifehouse. Game could have been higher too.

I wonder if that 12-12-12 live album for Sandy relief will make any major impact. Probably not as far as Taylor's concerned but maybe top ten.

So Taylor seems to be our one shining ray of hope this Christmas.

Nashville soundtrack is outselling Glee. Cool.
Solid numbers for Bruno.
Oh and go Taylor, etc.

Green Day has been surprisingly consistent in first-weeks for this trio.

Wow, I think the first Glee Xmas album sold like 200k in a week.
I'm surprised at Slaylor Gift from God. I thought Bruno was projected to sell like 300k.

Bruno is exactly where I expected him to be. Some people here had ridiculous expectations (but what else is new?)

Are they usually and I just haven't noticed it as much before? They were the ones predicting 300K for him.

I thought those projections are based on initial shipments (which are somewhat based on the labels' projections). I don't usually follow them.

Hits used to be fairly correct and usually if they weren't they were being too conservative-not predicting an estimate that is double what the cd actually sells. Though, I have been not watching the charts as closely as I used to so maybe Hits is just less accurate now than it was a few years ago so I should just start ignoring their estimates.

Wayyyy better than 55k. Just like with Ke$ha, he'll be consistent throughout the Winter, with the appropiate singles. Atlantic can't drop the ball on this.

^Comparing him to Kesha is just so wrong. How ppl expected him to sell 300k? Someone explains that to me please His debut opened with 55k and these numbers reflects his single week sales His strenght is longevity and killer live performances.

Numbers are pretty much on point. Everyone doing about what they should. Game doing that much is pretty impressive since he has no hit or promo.
The Sandy album will probably debut at #3 I'm guessing with around 85-100k depending on what performances are on it.

Game is solid, but definitely could have been higher. I think I was projecting around 140k, but considering his last album opened with 95k, these numbers aren't too bad.
Big Boi's numbers are terrible, which is a shame, because, as usual, he put out an excellent album.

I was hoping Bruno could hit 200k, but I honestly had no idea what to expect from him. 140-160k isn't bad and I think he'll have longevity. 300k was an industry prediction, which they probably based on his string of hits and last album selling so well over time. Predictions have been really off all year. I don't think people have been overly optimistic for anyone in particular, but we're going to have to (once again) lower our expectations.
Taylor likely to be #1, I guess that means she's in the 180-200k range this week?
Game is actually doing a little better than I would have expected, while Big Boi is doing lower than I thought. I would have guessed both would be in the 50-60k range.

Any projections for Wang Chung's first album of original material in 23 years?

People are confusing projections and estimations.
A projection is what the industry think an album will sell. The latest projections have been way off. Except for Rihanna...
An estimation is based on first day sales.
So it should be: "Any estimates for Wang Chung's new album?"

Unless you can provide some bibliographical reference from a peer- reviewed journal justifying your argument, it's just your opinion. (by the way, I'm a statistician who knows very well the difference between prediction, projection and estimation).

No, but they have an excellent program, especially in Biostatistics. I went to UNC.

Bruno Mars' 'Unorthodox Jukebox' Aiming for Top 5 Debut on Next Week's Billboard 200 December 12, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield ( keith_caulfield), Los Angeles Fresh off earning his fourth No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, Bruno Mars now has his sights set on the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. "Locked Out of Heaven," the lead single from Mars' second album, "Unorthodox Jukebox," reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 on Wednesday (Dec. 12). Meanwhile, industry sources suggest the album is on course to sell perhaps 140,000 to 150,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Dec. 16. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Dec. 19. Mars' figure likely won't be enough to claim the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200, however. At the present, it seems like Taylor Swift's "Red" will hang out for a fifth week in the penthouse. Sources don't have a firm prediction on what "Red" will sell just yet, but they seem confident it will beat Mars' latest release. "Red" sold 167,000 this past week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, easily enabling its return to No. 1 on the chart. Mars' first album, "Doo Wops & Hooligans," debuted at No. 3 on the chart dated Oct. 23, 2010, selling 55,000 in its first week. It has sold a total of 1.8 million in the U.S. and launched three top five Hot 100 singles ("Just the Way You Are," "Grenade" and "The Lazy Song"). Mars' album was one of a handful of new releases that arrived to retail this week. Among the others looking for notable debuts on the Billboard 200 next week: Game's "Jesus Piece" and the soundtrack to the TV series "Nashville." Both are looking to start in the top 20. Also on track to score a high bow is the late Jenni Rivera's new compilation "La Misma Gran Senora." The 13-song album (announced in October) contains eight top 25 hits on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, including its previously unreleased title track. The latter is currently No. 15 on the Regional Mexican Airplay tally. I'm talking about the way HITS/Billboard uses these terms. The way we have been talking about the HITS charts for the last 9 years here at Pulse.
