Welcome to my personal chart thread!

2013 is here, so I decided to begin a personal chart where I am going to include my forty favourites songs of the week and I'll update the chart each Sunday.

As a consequence, there are some points about the songs that I'm going to chart you should know:

• Only current songs are eligible to chart. It refers to songs that has been sent to different radio formats, has been released as a single, either via iTunes, Beatport, or other retailer, or has a music video out within the last six months. However, this rule breaks when I found out a song that it's totally new for me (sometimes, it could happen!) and was released within the last 18 months, being at least have to fulfill one of the aforementioned.
  
• Promo singles and album tracks aren't eligible to chart. ^(*) Unless:
  - A music video is out for any song that it's consider as the aforementioned.
  - A song has been released through Beatport or it's an independent release and it's unclear if it's an official single or not. In this case, it's not necessary to have a music video out.
  
• Remixes and alternate versions count together. Sometimes, I don't like the original version of a song, but there are some remixes that are really awesome. So, the remixes/alternate versions could replace the original version on the chart. Obviously, those must have been released via digital download or sent to different radio formats. It's not necessary to have a music video out.

Certifications: ^(*)

I decided to use the generic triangular points system, which was previously used by Slizzard for certifications and year-end charts. However, I prefer not to customize it for personal purposes.

I'm going to start in its twentieth level as it's shown below:

#40 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + (…) + 16 + 17 + 18 + 19 + 20 = 210 points
#39 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + (…) + 16 + 17 + 18 + 19 + 20 + 21 = 231 points
#38 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + (…) + 16 + 17 + 18 + 19 + 20 + 21 + 22 = 253 points
etc.

As a consequence, the formula I use in Excel is: ((41-([pos]-19))/2)*((41-([pos]-19))+1)

So, the certification tresholds goes like this:

04,000 = Gold
08,000 = Platinum
16,000 = 2x Platinum
24,000 = 3x Platinum
32,000 = 4x Platinum
and it goes on and on (and on and on)

Sadly, no. I prefered to put a barrier on my chart because I would have permitted a lot of promo singles/album tracks to chart and it would have become a mess.

Second week and there's a new #1. "Sweet Nothing" claims this honour, dethroning "Anything Could Happen", which falls a spot this week. Also, "I Knew You Were Trouble." climbs to #3 while "Don't You Worry Child" falls two to #4. "Ho Hey" jumps four spots to #5 and climbing to the top 10 is "Catch My Breath".

Lower down the chart, the shakeout has just begun. There are five songs which fell more than six spots this week, being "Come Taste the Rainbow" the most. However, it isn't all bad for Example because he is, as well, the biggest climber this week with his new single "Perfect Replacement". Also, there are three new entries this week, being "Little Talks" at #27, which becomes the highest debut this week, "Tongue Tied" at #36 and "Figure 8" at #40.

You should check out "Lolita" (again). Personally, I really like The Veronicas stuff and "Lolita" is great too. Regarding Olly Murs, I like also his stuff (you should check out them as well) and I like him since I heard the original/international version of "Heart Skips a Beat" with Rizzle Kicks last year, although the song has been out since mid 2011.

A new week has come and there's a new #1 as well. "I Knew You Were Trouble." climbs atop, making "Sweet Nothing" to fall a spot this week. Also, "Don't You Worry Child" climbs back a spot, while "Try" enters to the Top 5 at #4 and "Anything Could Happen" falls three spots to #5. Moreover, there are two new songs in the Top 10, which are "Clarity" at #8 and "Waiting for the Night" at #10.

Lower down the chart, there's a major shakedown than last week because seven songs left the chart! Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are the biggest climbers this week with the Wanz-featured song "Thrift Shop", which jumps 8 spots, while Ke$ha falls 9 with her previous single "Die Young". Regarding the new entries, "Suit & Tie" becomes the highest debut this week at #18 and near the Top 20 is "If I Lose Myself", which enters at #21. The remaining debuts are "Call Me a Spaceman" at #34, "Drinking From the Bottle" at #35, "Reload" (Original Mix) at #37, "The City" at #39 and, closing the chart, "I Love It" at #40.

Certifications: This week, "Sweet Nothing", "Anything Could Happen", "I Knew You Were Trouble.", "Don't You Worry Child", "Try", "Ho Hey" and "Home" get the Gold status.
