SWH Top 10 Countdown

Welcome to the introductory post of the thread for the SWH Top 10 Countdown! We’re going to take a look at the tabulation system for the weekly Top 10 chart as well as the tabulation system for the end-of-year Top 75 chart. Finally, I’m going to introduce several awards which will be given to a few outstanding artistes during the publication of the year-end chart. Note that all tabulation methods described here will be applicable to future (weekly and annual) charts.

The Weekly Top 10
This chart is created on a weekly basis. Each song has its own “peak position” (this refers to the highest charting position for the single. If the track hit No.1, the number of weeks which it stayed at the top spot will also be shown), “week count” (this refers to how many weeks the song has been on the Top 10) and “points” (this refers to the score for the particular track). If the single is a new entry in the Top 10, it’ll be indicated as “NEW”. Otherwise, its previous week’s charting position will be indicated. A re-entry is indicated as “RE”.
For the weekly charts, the inverse point system is used. The following is an overview of the number of point(s) a song gets for charting at a particular position for a week:
1st position: 10 points
2nd position: 9 points
3rd position: 8 points
4th position: 7 points
5th position: 6 points
6th position: 5 points
7th position: 4 points
8th position: 3 points
9th position: 2 points
10th position: 1 point
Of course, if a track charts on the Top 10 for more than 1 week, it will accumulate more points. Do note that this score does not only represent the point value of the song. The points are also split equally among all credited artistes in the single (correct to one decimal place). Consequentially, artistes will also have their own “point values”. If it’s impossible to split the points equally among all the singers in the song, the main artiste(s) will get a slightly higher score from that track as compared to the featured artiste(s). Overall, however, this difference is insignificant.
Apart from the main chart, there is also a featured Bubbling Under track every week. These are songs which are close to entering the Top 10 and may do so in the near future. A track may be a Bubbling Under more than once. Bubbling Unders are not awarded any points.
Finally, the weekly countdown has a “falloff(s)” category whereby song(s) which drop out of the Top 10 for that particular week is/are shown.

The End-of-year Top 75
The tracking period for the end-of-year chart falls within the first Sunday and the last Saturday of a calendar year. During this period, only permanent falloffs from the weekly charts will be considered for tabulation. Songs which are still in the SWH Top 10 Countdown by the end of the year will not be considered for tabulation (these tracks will only have the chance to qualify for the subsequent year-end countdown). Out of this pool of singles, only the Top 75 will qualify for the end-of-year chart. In the event that there are less than 75 tracks which completed their chart run by the end of the year, non-charting singles will be selected at discretion to fill up the Top 75. The following is the ranking criteria for the end-of-year chart:
PRIORITY 1: POINT VALUE OF SONGS
This is the primary criteria used for ranking. The higher the point value of a song, the higher it will be ranked. If multiple tracks have the same point value, refer to priority 2.
PRIORITY 2: PEAK POSITION OF SONGS
The higher the peak position of a song, the higher it will be ranked. For comparison between/among Number One tracks, the longer a single stayed at the top spot, the higher it will be ranked. If multiple tracks have the same peak position, refer to priority 3.
PRIORITY 3: HOW LONG EACH SONG STAYED IN THE TOP 10 CHART
The longer a song stayed in the chart, the higher it will be ranked. If multiple tracks stayed in the Top 10 for the same period of time, refer to priority 4.
PRIORITY 4: PERSONAL PREFERENCE
The more I like a particular song, the higher it will be ranked. For indication, a symbol will appear beside the point value of the track which I like more. If 3 or more singles have to be ranked with this priority, I will simply use more of such symbols. The symbol used to indicate a greater degree of personal preference is this: *
Refer to the following example for clarification:
I prefer Song A to Song B. I like the latter more than Song C. Song C is better than Song D. However, all of these tracks have the same peak position and score. Also, they spent the same amount of time on the Top 10. Having taken all of these factors into consideration, this is how I will rank the tracks and indicate personal preferences:

20 - Song A - Artiste A - 5 - 6 - 25***
21 - Song B - Artiste B - 5 - 6 - 25**
22 - Song C - Artiste C - 5 - 6 - 25*

At this juncture, all songs in the end-of-year chart must be ranked. There should be no more ties among multiple tracks.

Awards
These are awards given to select artistes for excellent performance:
Most Outstanding Male Artistes: The top 3 most successful male artistes will get this award.
Most Outstanding Female Artistes: The top 3 most successful female artistes will get this award.
Most Outstanding Groups/Bands: The top 3 most successful groups/bands will get this award.
Only the Top 3 males, females and groups/bands with the highest point values will be receiving the awards. Additionally, the award “Hotshot Artiste of the Year” will be given to the most successful artiste overall. The point value of each artiste is determined by the point value(s) of his/her/their charting single(s). For example:
Artiste A has 2 songs which completed their chart run on the Weekly Top 10 during the tracking period: Song A & Song B. The latter features Artiste B. Let’s say Song A has a point value of 15 while Song B has a point value of 20. The point value of Artiste A will be given as:
Song A - 15 points
Song B [ft Artiste B] - 20/2 = 10 points
Overall Point Value of Artiste A: 15 + 10 = 25 Points
