I've decided my favorite song is "Two Pieces" That song is perfection. I don't really see it as being a single though :( for me, singles should go: Heart Attack Made in the USA (apparently that's the second) Really Don't Care (WISH this was the summer single, perfect for summer!)/Something That We're Not Neon Lights (not a huge fan of the song, but I get the single-vibe from it) This is a solid pop album with a lot of possible singles. I'd love to see a ballad get released, like Nightingale or in Case. I really hope she gets at least 3 singles, but if the second single does as well as Heart Attack, I could easily see them going 4 deep with this album. You would hope so but Hollywood records isn't knowing for having hit third single or even a third single at all sometimes

The chorus of "Firestarter" is sooooo underwhelming. It's my least favorite as well

"Neon Lights" sounds exactly like "Yeah x3" by Chris Brown. That's probably my least favorite track on the album. The rest of this album is pretty much perfect and an ideal follow-up to the amazing Unbroken album.
Lots of single possibilities from this set! I hope to see "Without the Love" and "Really Don't Care" as future releases. They're both CHR gold.
Also, "Never Been Hurt" is literally the same exact song as "Unbroken" only not as good, now that I pay more attention to the lyrics. "I will love you like I've never been hurt." vs. "I'm gonna love you like I've never been broken."

I think you just subjectively prefer those two. Objectively, Demi's vocals on this album are above Kelly's on Thankful and Christina on Stripped (or at the absolute very least equal). For some reason, people have trouble giving Demi the props she deserves vocally. There's always some unnecessary qualifier, such as comparing her to current pop stars or Disney peers, but it's unneeded. I think there's a stigma. There's a lack of willingness to concede. A lack of wanting to break the image you've built up in your mind. I don't see nearly as much resistance to other comparable vocalists in her age group such as Ariana, JoJo, and Jordin. Oh, honey. Her vocals here are not stronger than Xtina's on Stripped (or anywhere near equal) or Kelly's on Thankful. She's a great vocalist, but she is not on that level at all, especially not on Xtina's level during her prime. This is getting delusional. Ariana & JoJo are also great vocalists but no one out there is saying they are equal to either one of those other artists, that's the difference. Ariana got plenty of resistance in the "The Way" thread when everyone kept saying she was as good as Mariah. Calm down. THANK YOU. I was just about to say this. Nothing that Demi delivers on this album (or any album) touches "Walk Away", "Soar", "Beautiful" or "The Voice Within" vocally... That's insane. I also appreciate you bringing up two other vocalists in that age range (Ariana is 20, Jojo is 22) who are easily just as good as Demi. It really helps to contextualize her. Demi's biggest problem (for me) is her inconsistency in her live performances... At least most of the ones I've seen anyway. Ariana has demonstrated more control, and JoJo's control is absolutely out of this world (watch her tackle the "Demonstrate" runs live... insane.) Demi is young though. She'll get there. I'm definitely interested in her next few years.

Difference in opinion, dahhling. It's not insanity. Insanity would be if I made that claim for the latest Katy Perry album.

Oooooo I'm loving the Target bonus track "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me." I think it's my favorite ballad on the album, to be honest. It's just so stripped down and beautiful.
My preference order right now: 1. "Fire Starter" 2. "Really Don't Care" 3. "Never Been Hurt" 4. "Heart Attack" 5. "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me" 6. "Something That We're Not" 7. "Neon Lights" 8. "In Case" 9. "Without the Love" 10. "Two Pieces" 11. "Shouldn't Come Back" 12. "Warrior" 13. "Nightingale" 14. "Made in the USA"
Barring "Made in the USA" and maybe "Nightingale", I"m in love with every track though. They're just all so great. I'm genuinely impressed with how little filler there is on. It's quite possibly my favorite album of 2013 thus far.

I own the last two Demi albums. Well, I downloaded HWGA and bought her last. I listened to a couple songs off HWGA and don't remember any of it but don't remember liking anything to want to hear it again. Her last album...the only songs I play now are Lightweight, Give Your Heart A Break, and Skyscraper (for the lyrics and emotion, NOT the vocals). I think Demi is solid but she has a lot to work on, as far as her tone. I like singers who either have really pretty tones or completely rough around the edges/unusual. If she continues to work hard, she'll get there though. While she is a better singer than her Disney peers, there are songs from those peers that I would usually rather hear over Demi's.

So I finally listened to the album (I managed to restrain from listening early, so proud :'( ). Anyway, on first listen... I was kinda disappointed to be honest Since then, I've listened two more times, and it's definitely grown on me a LOT. The album wasn't as instant for me as Unbroken, but in the end, DEMI is the better album. First of all, her voice. No complaints. None at all. Simply flawless vocals. This is easily her best vocal album to date. I love that her voice matures with her music. I don't think her so called "screaming" is overdone at all. She's showing a lot more control with each album, and I already can't wait to hear how her voice improves on album five. Now for the songs: Personally, I'm a fan of more mid-tempo to up-tempo songs, and slow ballads aren't really my thing. However, I love the ballads on this album. "Nightingale" reminds me of "Lightweight". I personally prefer the latter, but the former is still very good. "In Case" is incredible. Unless my mind is slipping me, this is her most stripped down song to date, and she definitely pulls off a piano ballad wonderfully, with amazing vocals. "Shouldn't Come Back" and "Warrior" are essentially "For the Love of a Daughter" and "Skyscraper" part two respectively. "Shouldn't Come Back" touches me, as you can really hear the emotion in her voice. Musically, the acoustic is a nice addition. "Warrior" is one of the album's best songs imo. It's sung flawlessly and powerful lyrics. Perfect way to close the album. I prefer "For the Love of a Daughter" to "Shouldn't Come Back" (although I can see that one growing on me greatly), but "Warrior" to "Skyscraper". Now for the more up-beat songs: "Made in the USA" was the most instant for me of the remaining songs. I definitely see why it was chosen as the second single, although it's pretty similar musically to "Heart Attack", so I wish they had saved it for maybe the third single. I love the chorus and production of "Without the Love". It's another of my favorites on the album. I can actually see this doing fairly well as a single. "Neon Lights" is pretty generic, but I do like it. I can see why some would want it to be a single, but I don't think it would really stand out enough from the rest of mix. "Two Pieces" is, in terms of quality, definitely one of the best from the album. The chorus is phenominal and it hits you very suddenly. I see why others love it so much, but it's not really my style, so I probably won't find myself listening to it by itself often. "Really Don't Care" was the second most instant song for me. It's such a catchy song, and would make a perfect summer anthem! Cher's part, while short, is a nice, welcome addition. "Fire Starter" is hands down the worst on the album. It's so...plain. There's nothing special to it, and it's the only song that hasn't worked its way into my memory yet. "Something That We're Not" was very unexpected. It's yet another perfect summer anthem and the chorus is so catchy. I hear the 1D comparisons musically, which is definitely a plus for me. Some consider this to be a step back in maturity, but lyrically, it's definitely age appropriate. I love her sass and attitude in the song, and the "Not gonna happen dude" line (personal favorite on the album) gives me "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" vibes, yet another plus. "Never Been Hurt" is basically "Unbroken" part two. Even the main chorus line is like exactly the same. It's a nice song, but it's one of my least favorite from the album. So overall, I'm happy with this album. I personally think she's shown lots of growth vocally, lyrically, musically, and as a person. The album's pretty diverse, containing bubbly summer anthems, catchy dance songs, and heartfelt ballads. This is definitely her most "pop" album to date. Here We Go Again, while not really my style, was definitely her best album, followed by Unbroken, then Don't Forget. This tops Here We Go Again. Unbroken is my personal favorite of all her albums, because I like the most songs overall, followed by Don't Forget, then Here We Go Again (again not really my style). Right now, this places second, and may become my favorite after a few more listens. Great album :) My personal favorites (not based on overall quality)- 1. "Heart Attack" (familiarity on its side, may change) 2. "Something That We're Not" 3. "Warrior" (best song overall) 4. "Really Don't Care" 5. "Made in the USA" 6. "Shouldn't Come Back" 7. "Without the Love" 8. "In Case" 9. "Two Pieces" (need the style to grow on me, but great song) 10. "Nightingale" 11. "Neon Lights" 12. "Never Been Hurt" 13. "Fire Starter" (ugh)

I think it's a very solid pop album even though I don't instantly love it. There's a few tracks I really liked off the first listen (RDC, Nightingale, TP) but I think it will grow on me as a whole eventually; HA surely did.
Album is #2 on iTunes.

Hopefully she surprises with her sales this week and is able to snag #1. I'm sure a lot of copies are being sold physically because of the Target exclusive. Nice to see all of the songs (minus Fire Starter) are in the top 200 on iTunes, and Really Don't Care is #28 now. :o

HITS said she's in a 3-way battle with Vampire Weekend and George Strait for the #1 spot and they're all expected to sell six figures so she's definitely gonna eclipse the 96k opening of Unbroken.

I think she'll land ahead of George Strait but I'm nervous about VW. I didn't realize their opening sales were going to be as big as they're projected to be. I hope Demi scores the #1!

Made in the USA, Neon Lights, and Really Don't Care seem to be the standouts as possible singles from the album with Neon Lights being the strongest imo. Is MITUSA confirmed as the second single? Neon Lights should definitely be next, then Really Don't Care.
Overall, its a decent album..could be better, but I can see her having decent radio success if they choose the right singles.

Neon Lights sounds so dated. It is the Unbroken of the album. MITUSA is confirmed.

"Never Been Hurt" is the "Unbroken" of the album. Literally the same song. I do agree on the part that "Neon Lights" sounds dated, but I still find it pretty enjoyable.
"In Case" is a vocal masterpiece.

"Nightingale" sounds so much better to me now knowing that it's about a friend who died :'(
"Two Pieces" is failing to grow on me. "Neon Lights" and "Never Been Hurt" are succeeding at that. "Without the Love" and "Shouldn't Come Back" have joined the ranks of my my other favorites. "Fire Starter" remains to be shit.

I meant it in terms of both "Neon Lights" and "Unbroken" being songs that fans (and even non-fans) are begging to be released for its apparently obvious hit potential but never being released. In addition to that, I think they're both slightly dated for their time of release. But, yes. "Never Been Hurt" and "Unbroken" are the same song.

I honestly don't get why MIUSA is the 2nd single. Are they effin' deaf? Why are they seating on Really Don't Care when it's clear that it's by far the most pouplar album track and also fits with the summer season?
