I'm surprised the label didn't get her a Justin Timberlake remix for "Walk It Out" as it is obvious that it is most radio friendly song on the album and I assume that the label expected it to be a guaranteed hit (with the Timbaland feature).

I'll be buying this on Friday. This album is really solid. I love the disco and the old school R&B/Gospel vibe

Yes, Jennifer...the album is fabulous! Love everything from the post-disco sounds, to the length - not too much filler at all. It kinda goes with the retro sound of the album, reminiscent of the days when albums were 8-10 tracks long. Listening to "Moan" made me want to cry. Her vocals are insane! And "I Still Love You" needs some hot remixes cause it's screaming to invade the gay clubs. All in all, I'm very pleased.

I think the album is missing a good mid-tempo ballad for her urban AC (something in vein of "Where You At" and "Spotlight") and that would have helped her to sell at least in the first week. The singles that have been released are probably too uptempo for her core format and she isn't known for up tempos. Her label missed the mark on that. BINGO. The album isnt horrible. Its easily her most cohesive to date, its just not going to sell anything. She needs that mid tempo r&b number to really work on Urban AC and maybe go top 20 on urban but they didnt secure that for her on this album.

#15 on iTunes. I'll be shocked if she sells more than 25k.

This album is FIRE! The house elements remind me of the music I grew up on in Chicago! My favorite R&B album so far this year.

Projected to open with 19-22k. Time for a new label.

#15 on iTunes. I'll be shocked if she sells more than 25k. Projected to sell 19-22k next week. Jennifer Hudson debuted at #2 with 217k (836k to date). I Remember Me debuted at #2 with 165k (458k to date).

I think a lot of this is just that she was riding on hype for her first couple albums. The last album didn't have any radio smashes and still debuted with good numbers.

The public put her in the MJB box. They want to see her big, angry/and or heartbroken. They refuse to accept anything else.

This album would've been cute if she was 10+ years into her career and she didn't have anything left to prove but I think it's her weakest offering yet.
It's a shame because at the beginning of the era, she seemed really determined to break out of the vanilla, award show box she'd been unfairly lumped into and Walk It Out seemed like she was going in that direction but ultimately the album is the oldest she's ever seemed imo. The best songs in her catalogue are the ones where she's felt like a current R&B singer.

I think she can move records out the gate but only if she had a decent radio hit. The fact that the album is coming out a year after "I Can't Describe" was released didn't help things. I just hope the gap between this album and her fourth album isn't long. I'm ready for her to get back to the midtempos/ballads where her voice soars, that's the Jennifer I've grown to appreciate.

Jennifer's voice is too big and loud to be singing contemporary Urban material. Songs like "Pocketbook" and "Walk It Out" don't suit her at all in my opinion. The fact of the matter is, there's really not a place in the contemporary Urban scene for an act like Jennifer. There was that brief period in the late 00s and very early 10s where "real" R&B was making a comeback, but that came and went.

They definitely waited way too long to release the album.

Oh wow! This is a really solid album. I wasn't tempted to skip a single song. I really love the dance influences. It's a shame it won't sell too much.

I can't believe the opening numbers. I expected them to be low, but more like 50k. I hope they can get a hit from another single to somewhat salvage this album.

I haven't heard the album yet, but what I have heard from it has been enjoyable. The opening numbers are really such a shame. She is so, so talented and her last albums have debuted really well. She just has no real solid "direction" with her music. It's not cemented at all, just... all over the place. I'm sure the album is great but they really need to find better management. Her incredibly, larger than life voice should not be an issue. That should be her ticket into success.

#10 with 24k (SoundScan). Also interesting to note that this is Chris Brown's second time keeping her from a #1 album on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as well.

Congrats to her! It feels like there's not any buzz for her album outside of the R&B circles, so I'm happy she managed a Top10 debut!

OMG. I saw that this was available in AUGUST on ITUNES. What a disaster. Poor Jennifer. Oh well, I won't be buying it regardless. The music is not really for me. Moan sounded nice from the ITUNES preview I heard so I might buy that but she can keep the rest of that dated mess. In other news, I didn't even know she was still married!

She isn't married yet, they've been engaged for 6 years. She said on Wendy that she's basically taking her time and making sure that they're ready for marriage because she takes the institution seriously. I understand what she means but I don't get why they got engaged so fast if they haven't even really been planning a wedding for the past 6 years, but I also get that her personal turmoil might have made it difficult to want to focus on a big wedding.
