Rolling Stone has always been hella biased towards men and Aretha Franklin so it's no surprise how flawed this list is. Furthermore, it came to my attention not too long ago that whereas the industry used to be even more sexist and rockist than it is now, the industry has nonetheless moved in the opposite direction in recent years. That could explain, to some degree, why acts like Beyonce and Rihanna--who would not have been on the list 10 years ago--are on the list while the likes of Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Whitney Houston are not. Beyonce and Rihanna are hot, after-all; the others listed haven't been hot in years so relevancy no doubt plays a major role here as is NO surprise.

It seems unfair to call rhianna and mariah carey 'trash', they are artists and that has to be respected, that being said I dont agree with Rolling Stone magazine to make them 'New Immorstals' there is definetly other more deserving artists out there... I think Rolling Stone are not to interested in recognizing artists for what they do but more for how famous they are at the moment, in that case they should call it a the list the list of 'Celibrities'. am I wrong in saying this or does anyone agree??

I wouldn't say you're wrong in that assessment except that I think to be able to translate art over to popularity to become celebrity is a challenge in itself. A lot of people downplay celebrities and people that are famous but I think there's a certain level of compromise they have to give in order to reach that point so the ones that are able to get famous while keeping their "art" have a gift with that, for sure.

@ that list. No: ABBA Fleetwood Mac Mariah Carey Whitney Houston Dolly Parton Janet Jackson Celine Dion and the list goes on. Especially Dolly and Fleetwood Mac.. Their exclusion from the original 100 is mind-boggling.
