Anyone else think Icona Pop has an outside shot of turning into a #1 contender come early summer?

This week is a total crap shoot with "Gentleman" being almost impossible to predict. Here is my shot in the dark:
1. Just Give Me A Reason 2. Can't Hold Us 3. Gentleman 4. Thrift Shop 5. Stay

Thought I'd copy this in here:
Views 1st day 22,500,000 2nd day 58,474,746 3rd day 89,143,242 4th day 117,000,000 5th day 144,658,359
Daily Views Increase: 1st day: + 22,500,000 2nd day: + 36.000,000 3rd day: + 30,500,000 4th day: + 27,900,000 5th day: + 27,700,000
US views are approximately 1/5th of this. Maybe more maybe less, it was 16% the first day, but I think it's more now since it climbed a lot on iTunes during the following days.

If these #s continue, and if "Gentleman" is 20% of all views, it should easily cruise to the #1 spot even without strong sales. I figure for every 1 million views, a song gets 2,500 chart points, so 4 million views a day would be about 10,000 chart points (equivalent to about 120,000 downloads), or 70,000 for the week.

I'm honestly surprised that Gentleman is not slowing down more. This just doesn't strike me as having the same over-the-top viral aspects as Gangnam Style.

I am thankful that the views seem to be on just the official video and not some swim team, or basketball team mimicing the dance. You are right it does not seem to have quite the same buzz in the US as "Gangnam Style" had, and I think the digital downloads reflect that. GS was #2 in sales its' second week on the digital songs chart, "Gentleman" may not get to the Top 10 this week.

"Gentleman" is down to #18 and dark red on Kworb, it was close to the top 10 yesterday.
"Gangnam Style" exploded in sales over 300k for a few weeks. Maybe "Gentleman" will rise in upcoming days..

It's important to note that Gangnam Style didn't actually start smashing iTunes until some US performances. He did like 5 different U.S. performances in the course of 2 weeks and it got him up to iTunes #1.

Anyone else think Icona Pop has an outside shot of turning into a #1 contender come early summer? I would love to see that happen. The sales are staying pretty consistant at the moment, and it seems like the type of song that would do well on streaming. Airplay is really picking up now too. It looks to be at least a top 10, if not a top 5 hit!

It's funny, one of my friends was obsessed with this song LAST summer, and I totally thought it was just do like a Robyn kinda thing and be a blog/indie fave. Reminds me of how Ellie Goulding just suddenly became huge with an old song with "Lights."

Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" just hit iTunes. Considering how many YouTube videos tried looping a short clip into a full song I wonder if those will count for streaming. Seems like another test of what counts as a legitimate stream.

Daft Punk should score their biggest Hot 100 hit soon.
Does "Gentlemen" still seem to have a chance at #1? It's tumbling on iTunes now.

I haven't done any number crunching, but I really don't think it will. Less than 20 million views are enough to being #1 without any airplay or sales. I think Gentleman already did it.

Daft Punk should score their biggest Hot 100 hit soon. Does "Gentlemen" still seem to have a chance at #1? It's tumbling on iTunes now. Yes a very good shot at #1. Now that sales are 1 chart point for every 12 downloads (it used to be 1 for 10), YouTube viewing is probably the only way to reach #1 without any other support (e.g. "Harlem Shake" would have hit #1 even without digital downloads). A song would probably have to sell at least 625K - 650K downloads to have any shot at #1 without any airplay or streaming activity.

Daft Punk has taken over #1 on US iTunes! Hopefully a Top 40 debut on the Hot 100. I'd say Top 20 except unfortunately "Get Lucky" was released so late in the week.

it is fantastic. we can have better predictions.because airplay ubdate has become less important but where is harlem shake? Because there are hunderds of Harlem Shake videos, it's nearly impossible to keep track of each one every day. So unfortunately we can't really track the Youtube progress of Harlem Shake.

I mean, it fell to #3 on Streaming Songs this week, no reason to worry about that song anymore.

"Can't Hold Us" should make another big gain in points this week. It is gaining strongly in all 3 HOT100 components; sales, streaming and airplay. It may have to wait a few weeks if "Gentleman" continues its' phenomenal YouTube streaming #s.

Ugh, Daft Punk should have released on Monday and maybe they could have scored a Top 10 hit. I'll be pissed if they miss it just because they decided to release on Friday, they deserve to have a Top 10 hit in America.

Good lord!), I expect the song to become a legit smash hit.

I'm stunned by the success of Daft Punk
But also glad, it's a song Justin Timberlake should've released. Nice that someone did.
