Wow. Terrible numbers for Jessica. Is that the lowest first week opener for any Idol runner-up? Even DeGarmo sold more her first week

I think George Strait will pull in strong numbers on the 14th. He's in the midst of his farewell tour, which ends in 2014, and there seems to be a general sense that his days of getting consistently strong airplay with new music at country radio are numbered. He's the King of country though, and there's a bit of an underground traditionalist movement (and by that I mean, a lot of people have been clamoring for more "real" country music, since country radio and the industry continue to support mainly pop/rock/country acts and not very many neo-traditionalists. There's still a big market for the traditional-leaning acts, though). I wouldn't be surprised if Strait manages to outdo his last couple of albums in terms of opening numbers. Then Darius Rucker's album on the 21st should do pretty well, "Wagon Wheel" is the biggest hit of his career and was already made very popular by Old Crow Medicine Show and countless other covers. It's top 10 all-genre on iTunes and a MEGA hit at country radio right now. Also, Hunter Hayes' deluxe album in June should do very well. It's got several new songs and a couple songs from his self-titled debut that have been re-worked as duets. When I said weak releases, I meant that none of these upcoming albums are probably going to scan 1 million+. George Strait and Darius Rucker should scan 500k. Strait's last studio album missed the 500k mark though. Hunter Haye's re-release will push his album over 1 million sold. He's at ~750k now. I just find it strange that the next 2 months do not have any big name releases. Isn't Beyonce about to release something?

Hmm.. It's weird that she's on tour without proper new music available.

No release dates from Beyonce, Katy Perry, Mariah, GaGa...
The heavy hitters are waiting for September/October/November.
Eminem? U2?

She's probably afraid she'll flop again. The reception to the two songs she previewed in those commercials has been poor and she's previewing a new song soon again, hoping it's THE ONE. She's wasted many great promo opportunities and she's already overexposed without even releasing the lead single, let alone the album. Horrible management.

Good 2nd week drops for Buble and Fantasia.
Doesn't there seem to be higher than normal country albums in the Top 50?
I count 16.

Both are eligible for a Gold certification with the RIAA, but her label hasn't certified them. Dumb move.

Justin has not had a single increase in sales since he debuted. He sold 69k this week, though. Well above the standard range for albums to hover around with big hits, 20-30k. This coming week could see an increase with Mother's Day. Who knows.

I think you're all underestimating Daft Punk's first week numbers.

I also feel Demi's music would appeal more to a more mature audience and is a more suitable fit for Top 40 radio compared to Selena's music, and Demi Lovato can actually sing.

Also, these are two of Demi's most recent singles and they're doing extremely well, radio is starting to support Demi and I think she can pull off more radio hits in the future and maybe snatch Selena's wig.
