As stated in the chartwatch column posted today:
“#Beautiful” by Mariah Carey featuring Miguel doesn’t appear on this week’s (5/18/2013) Hot 100, but is expected to make a very potent debut next week. Carey has debuted at #1 three times (more than any other artist) with “Fantasy,” “One Sweet Day” (a collabo with Boyz II Men) and “Honey.” Can she do it again? Stay tuned.
This will probably kill the other thread but nobody is much interested in the 5/18 chart anyway and are more focused on this one

I remember in 2003 when the "Through The Rain" single was released 6 months into its run, Billboard questioned if it could re-enter the chart at #1. They are very optimistic with her chart entries!

Not unless someone made a pathetic dance to go along with "#Beautiful" that would rocket its streaming numbers to 25 million would it even begin to stand a chance at debuting at number one. It should debut high, though. I posted in the other thread that I believed it would debut in the 11-15 range. I'm going to stick with that.

Haven't you learned by now that everything is Billboard's fault? why do you italicize billboard though It's gramatically correct. They are technically a magazine company. Mediabase should be italicized as well. I don't do it all the time. Just when I remember or feel like it. Similar to quotation marks around song titles and italicizing album titles.

Ofcourse it will be a stretch, but can you imagine if #Beautiful debuts #1?......Let's just say there will only be 3 judges come AI's finale and Mariah is one of them.

lmao at the thread title. It's Mariah's world and these other singers are just living in it, eh.
I will be honest, the reception "#Beautiful" has received both critically and commercially has exceeded my expectations so much that I kind of feel like this song has already won. I just was not expecting such a buzz about it. I'm expecting a debut between #13 and #17 - I don't know why I'm thinking of that random range but that seems about right. Who knows though, if the video gets enough views streaming could weigh heavily in her favor.
As a side note someone mentioned Monday that the song is on Spotify, but I've checked periodically and still don't see it. If I add a track from my library to a Spotify playlist, does Spotify register that song's plays as streams, or do they not count since I'm not playing the song directly from Spotify's database (and/or b/c the song isn't actually on Spotify yet)?

I don't know for sure, but I'd assume those plays from your own library don't count. It is on Spotify though:

ty Nicolexo! It wasn't there when I searched within Spotify last night but maybe the search engine just hadn't been updated to pull it up. Bummer that songs from your own library don't count (I have no doubt they can monitor those plays as well), but it makes sense.

Perhaps Mimi Carey/Miguel can finish with around 20 million BDS audience come next Wednesday (the daily gains will not be as large as Mediabase, keep in mind).
"Live It Up" also had a Clear Channel promo; debuting it on Wednesday was wise, as it's the first day of the tracking week for Hot 100 Airplay.

I say a debut between #15 and #20 which will making her highest charting single since..Obsessed?

Her digital sales are not holding up as well as I expected, so I am dropping my sales projection to around 145K. I think a top 15 debut is the most likely result.

LOL funny 2m @ the thread title.
I can see #Beautiful becoming a monster airplay hit which eventually will stabilize her digital sales. She used to be a monster singles seller back in the 90's, don't know why that did not translate to digital sales

I don't think Mimi will have a "monster" airplay hit; "Obsessed" peaked at around 84m BDS impressions, and that was almost four years ago. After it gets round 20m for its first full week (reflected in its second week on Hot 100 Airplay), then we'll see how it holds up.
I guess the label premiered it Monday because Jennifer Lopez's track had the Clear Channel promo set for Wednesday. That huge first day of play kinda went to "waste" in terms of the charts, as it only resulted in a Bubbling Under showing.

I can't imagine that J. Lo single will deliver any substantial airplay either. That sound seems to have gone by the wayside.
