www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiYOUR ONE-DAYS: Rock—by which we mean big ol' gnarly loud guitars kinda rock—retains its grip on the chart next week, as the reunited Black Sabbath will score the first #1 album of its storied career with Monte Lipman's Republic. The news makes us want to bite the head off a bat or something. In a good way. Here are this week's key debuts: Black Sabbath (Republic) 120-130k Big Time Rush (Columbia) 40-45k Man of Steel Soundtrack (WaterTower) 30-35k Goo Goo Dolls (Warner Bros.) 25-28k Jimmy Eat World (RCA) 24-27k The Lonely Island (Republic) 23-26k Chrisette Michele (Motown) 21-24k We also note the return of a couple of veteran guitar bands in Goo Goo Dolls and Jimmy Eat World. Oh, and we've decided to stop taking banjo lessons. Sorry, mom! (6/12p)

Wow. I'm surprised with that prediction for Sabbath. I hope it ultimately does sell that much. It would be an amazing comeback for the album.

Too bad Poo Poo Dolls and Jimmy Eat Worm new record suck, they are not bringing guitar rock band back. Carry on with your banjos.

I love seeing veteran acts like Sabbath, Neil Diamond, and Tony Bennett (heck, even relative newcomers like Pink, Rihanna, and Gary Allan) finally landing their first number one albums in recent years. Too bad Bowie and Kiss missed out recently...maybe next time, if they don't wait another decade!

Not shocking for Black Sabbath. It is their first full record with Ozzy in like a decade. They are still quite popular. My predictions were 100k+

Very impressive numbers indeed. Also surprised to see Big Time Rush moving so many.

YOUR TOP 15: As many as eight new releases could debut in the Top 15 next week. The biggest and probably loudest of these, of course, will be 13 from Republic's reunited metal godfathers, Black Sabbath. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
*Black Sabbath (Republic) 115-125k Daft Punk (Columbia) 45-50k *Big Time Rush (Columbia) 40-45k *Hans Zimmer "Man of Steel" Soundtrack (WaterTower) 30-35k Darius Rucker (Capitol Nashville) 27-30k *Goo Goo Dolls (Warner Bros.) 27-30k Queens of the Stone Age (Matador) 25-28k Florida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 24-27k Blake Shelton (Warner Bros. Nashville) 24-27k *Lonely Island (Republic) 24-27k Imagine Dragons (Interscope) 24-27 *Jimmy Eat World (RCA) 21-24k Justin Timberlake (RCA) 21-24k *Chrisette Michele (Motown) 21-24k *Now Country 6 (UMe) 19-21k John Fogerty (Vanguard) 19-21k Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (Macklemore) 19-21k Michael Buble (Reprise) 19-21k
*Debuts

I like the album a lot. Not one of my favorite rock albums but it is really good. Rage Against The Machine and Audoslave Drummer drums on the album cause the original drummer was in a contract dispute. It's a solid album.

Ha ha. I have purchased many albums that peaked outside the top 100. I also don't buy albums solely because they debut at #1. A debut at #1 by itself is not an indication of quality or even overall popularity.
The first Sabbath/ozzy album in 35 years is the intriguing thing for me.

^:) Definitely. It's too bad, though, that original member Bill Ward wasn't involved- would have been its version of the Fab Four.

Can we let Black Sabbath have their week at #1? The 6/25 thread seems to have overtaken this one.

Rihanna out of top 50! :O They waited too long for "Right Now" plus the fact it's not really going to move the album at all doesn't help. Taylor down to #41, she needs a single now. "Red" goes for country adds next week but she needs a pop single as well. I assume it will go for adds in a few weeks for pop as well.
