LET'S SCHMOOZE THE DEBUTS: Jay-Z will repeat at #1 next week as a couple of debuts battle for runner-up. One of these, Sara Bareilles' The Blessed Unrest, could give Epic the #2 album two weeks in a row, following Ciara's chart bow this week. Here are this week's key debuts:
Sara Bareilles (Epic) 60-65k Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 60-65k Cody Simpson (Atlantic) 28-32k Ace Hood (Cash Money/Republic) 28-32k Matt Nathanson (Vanguard) 20-24k Sick Puppies (Capitol) 15-18k Teen Beach Movie (Disney) 14-17k
In other new-release news, the week's debuts at UMPG's Santa Monica offices include Magna Cannabis Holy Kush, Thank You Indica and Blueberry Coma. (7/17p)

Can't really clock Sara Bareilles for matching Kidz Bop's sales, they're selling to two totally different sets of customers. What's interesting to me is Kidz Bop doubling Cody Simpson's sales. LOL

Aw, I haven't listened to Sara's album yet but I was hoping she could do around 80k.
Effing Kidz Bop. That's no shade to Sara...but plenty of shade to Cody, lol.

Jay-Z's 'Magna Carta' Heading for Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 NEWS By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | July 17, 2013 7:30 PM EDT
Next week, Jay-Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" should become the first rap album in nearly two years to spend two weeks at No. 1.
While it's too early to tell just how much "Magna Carta" will sell in its second week, industry sources suggest that none of this week's new releases will pose a threat to Jay-Z.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of July 24.
The last rap album to rack up two weeks at No. 1 was Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV," which led the Billboard 200 for two weeks on the chart dated Sept. 17 and Sept. 24, 2011.
Jay-Z will likely block an arriving Sara Bareilles from the top slot next week, as the latter could debut at No. 2 with her new "The Blessed Unrest." The album might sell around 65,000 copies through the tracking week that ends on July 21.
Bareilles' last full-length studio album, 2010's "Kaleidoscope Heart," debuted at No. 1 with a start of 90,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Other albums heading for sizable bows next week include the new "Kidz Bop 24" set, Cody Simpson's "Surfers Paradise" and Ace Hood's "Trials & Tribulations."

YOUR TOP 15: Surprising exactly nobody, Jay-Z will dominate the album chart for a second week. Of the handful of debuts, meanwhile, Sara Bareilles is decisively in the lead. Here's how it looks as the weekend looms.
Jay-Z (Roc-a-Fella/Roc Nation) 115-125k *Sara Bareilles (Epic) 65-70k *Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 60-65k *Ace Hood (Cash Money/Republic) 28-32k *Cody Simpson (Atlantic) 28-32k Imagine Dragons (Kidinakorner/Interscope) 27-30k Florida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 27-30k J. Cole (Roc Nation/Columbia) 25-28k Justin Timberlake (RCA) 22-25k *Matt Nathanson (Vanguard) 21-24k Blake Shelton (Warner Bros. Nashville) 18-21k Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (Macklemore) 17-20k Wale (Atlantic) 17-20k Daft Punk (Columbia) 17-20k Bruno Mars (Atlantic) 17-20k

Huge drop for Jay-Z, although not too surprising given a large quantity of people got the album for free and the single isn't too big yet.

125k would be 76% drop. It's big but not really that huge I think.

It is big enough though to indicate that barring future rebounds, it won't challenge Justin Timberlake for album of the year

Probably not, but this suggests that it still being in the mix at the end of the year seems unlikely if there was even a chance to begin with

rayjay- JOSH probably meant the number of people who may have gotten the album via the fre app, in general, over the last couple of weeks], not that they counted toward the chart.

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/3423876/sara-bareilles-heading-for-no-2-debut-on-billboard-200Sara Bareilles Heading for No. 2 Debut on Billboard 200 By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | July 19, 2013 6:20 PM EDT Singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles is heading for No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart next week with her new album, "The Blessed Unrest." Industry sources say the set should sell around 65,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on July 21. Blocking her from the top slot will be Jay Z, who will see his "Magna Carta Holy Grail" reign for a second week. It might move around 115,000, or so. The album debuted at No. 1 with 528,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of July 24. Bareilles' last full-length studio album, 2010's "Kaleidoscope Heart," debuted at No. 1 with a start of 90,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The popular Kidz Bop franchise will tally another top 10 album as well next week. Its new "Kidz Bop 24" should start at No. 3 with about 60,000. There's a slight chance it could bump Bareilles out of the runner-up slot, as both albums are within striking distance of one another. "Kidz Bop 24" will mark the 17th top 10 album for the long-running series of child-friendly albums. Rapper Ace Hood should nab his second top 10 album next week, as "Trials & Tribulations" is set to bow with around 30,000. His last release was his first top 10, as 2011's "Blood Sweat + Tears" debuted and peaked at No. 8. 16-year old Cody Simpson is on his way to his first top 10 album, as "Surfers Paradise" is aiming to ride in with about 30,000. He's charted two previous efforts: 2011's "Coast to Coast" EP (No. 12) and 2012's "Paradise" (No. 27). On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Jay Z is No. 1, followed by Bareilles, "Kidz Bop 24," Hood and Simpson, respectively, at Nos. 2-5. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking, reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. As for the rest of the top 10: Florida Georgia Line's "Here's to the Good Times" is No. 6, J. Cole's "Born Sinner" is No. 7 and Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" is No. 8. Rounding out the top 10 are Imagine Dragons' "Night Visions" at No. 9 and Matt Nathanson's new "Last of the Great Pretenders" at No. 10. NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN BUILDING CHART Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 1 Jay-Z "Magna Carta Holy Grail" 2 NEW Sara Bareilles "The Blessed Unrest" 3 NEW Kidz Bop Kids "Kidz Bop 24" 4 NEW Ace Hood "Trials & Tribulations" 5 NEW Cody Simpson "Surfers Paradise" 6 4 Florida Georgia Line "Here's to the Good Times" 7 3 J. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.
