PINK – True Love f/Lily Allen: 15.439 (+ 0.946)
Interesting that this hasn't enter the Hot 100 yet. Should do that next week though but digital sales don't look promising.

I don't understand why radio loves Enrique Iglesias so much. In the past few years he's really only had 2 hits and even before that, he had a dry run of almost 10 years. Everytime a new single comes out, radio jumps on it as if he's one of the biggest male names in the business.
I really like Enrique's music but it just doesn't add up to me why his songs are so frontloaded on radio.

Niles has never had a solo production become a hit since him and David parted ways. Also as a collective it had been about 2-3 years since their last hit song.

The Cataracs don't have many hits where radio would jump all over them. They have 1 huge song (Like A G6) and a few minor hits (Bass Down Low, Better With The Lights Off, Backseat). Now if it was a Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Stargate, even RedOne- i could see radio's rationale to add a song this quickly. Someone above mentioned a CC deal. The one thing I don't understand about CC is that not all of the deals seem to be the same. When Lady Gaga or Rihanna have them- there are these massive updates. But if Enrique's new song had one (and apparently Finally Found You) why are those updates relatively small compared to Gaga and Rihanna? The obvious answer is because he's not as big as they are so does that mean that radio only plays his song maybe once every 3 hours while they play the big stars songs once every hour?

The deals are the same. I recall one deal (Madonna, maybe?) where not every CC station was participating, only the ones that chose to participate would. It was a weird "deal." But normally it's all CC stations (for the particular formats affected; that's one difference in the deals, some get pop, rhythmic, HAC, AC, urban, urban AC, and/or country). The difference comes from which formats and also non-CC stations. For example BTW got HUGE airplay from CBS, Cumulus, and other stations, not just CC stations.

Also, I'm pretty sure not every deal is the exact same when it comes to how often the song is played. Some may get once every hour, some may get X amount of plays per day.

8/10 it's every hour on the hour for CC deals. Some have particular radio deals with individual stations and what not like Miley WCS. Enrique had the first deal but it was mainly just Pop CC stations. It had the same first day gain as J. Lo. People like Mariah, Jay-Z, Justin, Gaga, etc. have the addition of Rhythmic, Urban, Urban AC, Hot AC, etc.

Maroon 5 are radio darlings, I was not expecting "Love Somebody" to be this big, but it's smashing on Pop and HAC at the same time.

So Miley has revealed that a new director's cut edition of the "We Can't Stop" music video will be released once the video hits 100 million views on YouTube. It's less than 3 million away right now. It already saw an increase this week to the song's highest streaming peak yet, and it looks like they're trying to push it even further. The current video is getting a push now with plenty of her fans watching it several times to get it to 100 million in the first place and then a new version, which I'm sure will be even crazier, will amp up the streaming even more!
That is some pretty good strategy right there. It might not be enough to get to #1 on the Hot 100, but that is a pretty good way to do so. Sales will probably increase with the new video too.

It already saw an increase this week to the song's highest streaming peak yet Does anybody know why this happened? Such a huge jump in streaming last week, there must be a reason for it, since in other weeks it was decreasing. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out for Miley, although it does seem fairly pointless as it's never going to overtake Blurred Lines, at least not any time soon. Could help for the year-end chart I suppose.

One Direction's 'Best Song Ever' Heading for Top Five on Billboard Hot 100
By Keith Caulfield and Gary Trust | July 25, 2013 6:10 PM EDT
One Direction's new single "Best Song Ever" is red-hot and heading for a huge debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week.
Released on Monday, July 22, the cut is on course for a top five start on the chart -- based on early forecasts of its first-week sales, streams and airplay. The top 10 of the new Hot 100 will be revealed on Wednesday, July 31.
Industry sources suggest the song should sell over 300,000 downloads by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, July 28. At the present, it doesn't seem like it will match the opening week of its current record week -- set when last year's "Live While We're Young" started with 341,000 (according to Nielsen SoundScan).
"Young" debuted and peaked at a career-high No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart.
In terms of streams -- which factor into the Hot 100's methodology, like sales and airplay -- the song is off to a fast start as well. First day U.S. streams for Vevo on Youtube were 825,000, according to Nielsen BDS. How those streams project over the course of the full week is difficult to predict, but if the first day plays are matched for the remainder of the tracking period, the seven-day total could be near 6 million. On a global scale, the song's official music video is off to a record-setting start, having broken VEVO's one-day worldwide views record.
Radio is also on the "Best Song Ever" bandwagon, although with nowhere near the fervor of music-buying-and-streaming fans so far.
"Song" debuted this week on Billboard's Pop Songs airplay chart at No. 40 after just less than three days of availability. It drew 783 spins on 106 of the chart's 159 reporters, according to Nielsen BDS (airplay which translated to 5 million audience impressions in that span). As of this posting, the song has nudged up to No. 35 on the building Pop Songs chart, which encompasses mainstream top 40 airplay from Monday morning to now.
Despite the group's high profile, top 40 radio has so far been hesitant to fully embrace One Direction. Their debut smash "What Makes You Beautiful" rose to No. 3 on Pop Songs but the act's next four chart entries prior to "Songs" peaked between Nos. 15 and 19. "Live While We're Young," for instance, reached No. 16 on Pop Songs, despite that lofty 341,000-download/No. 1 Digital Songs start last year.
Stay tuned to Billboard.com for future updates as we monitor the chart forecast for "Best Song Ever."

I'm seriously flabbergasted by the success of BL. Radio, I can understand its dominance. But the fact that it's constantly selling 2x the next best selling song after all this time is... unbelievable.
