It's only increased in sales 2 times? Strange. I wish we could see numbers without CMA. That happened week 11, right?

^ Yes, week 11 was the CMA effect.
And it's quite difficult to increase in sales when you're already high in the sky. It's not like it was selling 100-200K a week; then I'd be worried about it not increasing.

This song is up there with "Teenage Dream" for me because it's a simple song with a gigantic melody and I would not be surprised if this ends up becoming one of her biggest hits.

Doesn't she already hold the record for the most 4 million+ singles? Another one to add to the collection next week!
ETA:
6,341,000, "Firework" 5,606,000, "E.T." (feat. Kanye West) 5,542,000, "California Gurls" (feat. Snoop Dogg) 5,414,000, "Hot N Cold" 4,573,000, "Teenage Dream" 4,444,000, "I Kissed a Girl"
It will be her 7th. :)

I can't at this getting Song of The Year and not Record of The Year. I mean, even a stan like me can admit that the lyrics aren't the most inspired lol

Did anyone else catch her Grammy performance? I really enjoyed hearing "Roar" even though it is old. I liked it. Katy looked beautiful, as always.

Lol at Roar getting nominated for Song of the Year! Really? even Brave was better. And then: Brave vs Roar for solo performance lol they will split many voters if its basically the same type of song.

I still think it should have been nominated for Record of The Year, but glad it got a nod anyway. Also, one of her best vocals singing Roar at the Nominations Concert :)

Exactly A nomination for record of the year would've been fine and understandable. I like its production, vocal layering, the minimal instrumentation during the bridge and the final explosion. The problem would probably be the similarities with Brave tho. BUT the lyrics are really cringeworthy at moments and almost like a kindergarten class, with lots of cliche stuff. The nomination seems more like a joke and diminishes the Grammys credibility IMO.

Looks like this will be the last week we get sales for Roar, but this should be at or near 5 million by the middle or end of January, just in time for the Olympics.

This still has the gift card explosion. It will be very close to 5 million after that. It could actually be close to 6 million by the end of 2014.

I think Roar will see huge sales for the holiday surge though. Who knows at this point.

I'm thinking the ballpark of 150-250K is reasonable (for Christmas week). Comparatively, I remember WANEGBT returned to the top ten for a few days and ended up pulling in ~230K during Xmas week and ~95K for New Years week. With Roar still being top twenty on iTunes (with no signs of leaving anytime soon), I think 300-400K over the holiday weeks isn't out of the question.

The record is 22 weeks (Blurred Lines). Can it sell an average of ~250K/week for the next four weeks? I don't get this. How did it not break the 4M record? The records (what Billboard has been using) are based on the # of weeks charting on HDS - not the # of weeks since its digital release. Blurred Lines had a very slow start (debuted in March, I believe) and didn't explode in sales until late May/early June. Since Roar smashed right out of the gate, that's what gave it the advantage to top 4 million sales the "fastest."

It's amazing that it made it to #13 considering it was released late in the Billboard tracking period (December 1, 2012 through November 30, 2013; Roar was released on August 12, 2013).

This song's decreases on radio have been very small as of late (-.6 or so), and there are some good opportunities for longevity coming up. This'll increase like crazy the week of New Years, and it'll be used a lot in coverage for the Winter Olympics.
