YOUR NEW RELEASES
Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines will be next week's #1, no doubt, as it becomes increasingly clear that audiences are interested in more than the title track, which has been unstoppable sales monster. Thicke, heavy rockers Five Finger Death Punch and hip-hop artist Tech N9ne could all score career-best deuts on next week's chart. Here are this week's key new releases:
Robin Thicke (Star Trak/Interscope) 130-140k (career best: 137k) Five Finger Death Punch (Prospect Park) 95-105k (career best: 91k) Tech N9ne (Strange Music) 55-60k (career best: 57k) Backstreet Boys (K-Bahn) 50-55k Emblem3 (Syco/Columbia) 40-45k

Emblem3 (Syco/Columbia) 40-45k
these are actually great numbers for them. they finished 4th in this past season of x factor. the winner, Tate Stevens, album barley made top 20, while this will easily go top 10.

Wow, the top 3 debuts all challenging their career-best sales weeks. And then the Backstreet Boys...going to be a little off from Black & Blue's 1.6 million

Expected numbers for Thicke. Thats like a 300% gain from the last album. I don't see how anybody thought he was going to do monster numbers.

You YT people and you're expectations. Those are great numbers for Robin! A monster hit doesn't equal sales. Carly Rae knows that personally.

Her label was stupid and didn't release the album until "Good Time" was well a single, though. I definitely think she would have sold more had they released the album sooner. Not massively successful or anything but more successful, definitely.

I think some artists are more subject to illegal downloads than others. Can the music industry keep track of illegal downloading and see what songs/artists get illegally downloaded the most?

How is it tragic for Robin?
I was expecting 150k. It's close.

I predicted about 120-150k for Robin, so this is in line with my expectations. And considering that his previous high came during the 4th Quarter, this is more than great.

"Tragic" would be 40k for Robin.

Hmm. I wasn't expecting giant sales but I wanted Robin to do 200K at least. However, I do think it has more to do with urban is now hopping on the lead track.

Oh yeah nvm, I wasn't even considering Robin's past openings. Taking that into account, you're totally right, that is a great opening for him :)

I actually was expecting like, 70-80k for Robin. I just didn't think that many pop fans would be interested in more than the single for him, and in the past his solely-urban fanbase has never netted him over 140k (and that was back when albums as a whole sold a lot more than they do now). So I am VERY pleased with his numbers! This bodes well for his ability to continue selling the album with hits, so hopefully the radio support will be there for the next pop single.

When you consider that "Blurred Lines" is basically 6 years since his last major hit, Thicke's numbers aren't that disappointing. It will definitely be his best sales week since 2008 and he's done 2 other albums since.

Not sure how the high potential of a career best equals tragic lmfao. It's not like he's pulling a Flo Rida here or whatever. He's hitting better numbers than I assumed he was going to quite frankly.

Fifth Harmony will slaughter them once they release their album. 60k-70k for them? I think it really depends on if they can get a single to take off

The projections for RT's album are fine- the single has been huge, but hat doesn't always translate into equal-level album sales. His projection could be along the lines of others who had big singles but disappointing album sales- but, no, it's comfortably north of 100K.

Yall realize "Love After War" opened up with 44k? The fact that his previous album bombed doesn't change the fact that his current record is set to flop though? How is it tragic for Robin? I was expecting 150k. It's close. It's the most promoted album of 2013. The lead single -- which is also the title track -- sold 4 million and will officially become the biggest radio hit of all time during the album release week. I expected +300k.

Well, I meant like crossover song. EDIT: Despite the fact that the YT view counts for ST definitely show it wasn't obscure, some of the top comments kind of back up this statement.
