Official Adds Date: September 23A certain "A Little Bit Stronger" went for adds on September 27 back in 2010. I'm sure this means an album in January/February, depending on how quickly SMD moves up the charts. "Stronger" (the album) was not actually released until March 8, 2011 though. Do you think there's any chance that "Slow Me Down" will climb faster than "A Little Bit Stronger" did, to put the album out in February or so rather than early March? If so, that's totally cool with me, because I want to have this album NOW. But I hope it will be the result of a faster climb rather than a lower peak!

I've never been really big on Sara Evans, she has a few songs i like. Ill be honest... This sounds like a hit to me. A good slow burn, like Stronger.

I'm surprised by just how much I like this. Sara has always been a bit hit or miss for me, but this is a big hit. I can see this doing quite well for her, hopefully at least returning her to the top 10. I love that it's so different from "A Little Bit Stronger" (which I also loved). It would have been easy for her to find another big ballad since it worked so well for her last time, but I'm glad that she didn't do that.

I love the string plucking sound in the production of this. It really stands out as something totally unique, and in a good way. It's an odd choice but it works quite well imo.

Do we have a date for the digital release yet? Excited for this - even after all these years, the purity of her voice is still striking!!

Adds date is still a few weeks away but this song is available on Play MPE and Sara is obviously a pretty big name. The bottom line...radio has this song in their hands, so several stations undoubtedly won't want to wait 'til adds date to start playing this.

Finally heard the studio version of this. I quite like it, particularly the verses and the "doww--owww--owwn" part. I do think it gets a bit busy at times as cerulean noted.

Sara Evans Talks 'Slow Me Down' Single, Says Album Is Nearly Done www.billboard.com/articles/columns/the-615/5687048/sara-evans-talks-slow-me-down-single-says-album-is-nearly-doneSara Evans is excited to be getting back in the thick of the music business with the release of a brand new single titled "Slow Me Down." The first single from her upcoming RCA album, the song has been receiving much critical acclaim for its dramatic production style and her powerhouse vocal performance. Some in the industry have compared it to 80s crossover-styled material from Dolly Parton or Barbara Mandrell. Evans smiles at that comparison, saying "That means a lot, when you compare me to someone like that." She told Billboard last week that she knew instantly upon hearing the song that it was something special. HEAR SARA'S LATEST "There's definitely something about it," she said of the song, available now at digital retailers. "That's what we all felt when we heard it. When they pitched it to us, it was so emotional and the thought of 'Hurry Up and Slow Me Down' is one of the best lines I have heard in a song in so long. I'm very lucky they pitched it to me." The song was written by Marv Green, Heather Morgan, and Jimmy Robbins. It's been almost three years since Evans released her last album, "Stronger," which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, and she's more than ready to bring new music to her fans. "I am so excited to have some new music out. We're finishing the album up in October," she said. Evans says she is humbled by the early response to the record from radio. "A lot of people have asked for it early. KKGO in Los Angeles just added it. It's so phenomenal. I don't know if I've ever had one jump out this quick -- even with 'A Little Bit Stronger,' I don't think we've had as much early buzz on a single." Chuck Beck, OM with WGNE in Jacksonville, echoes those thoughts, saying "This song is HUGE! One of her best," while B-Dub from KUPL in Portland, says "Sara has a smash on her hands." The song seems poised to follow in the long line of successful ballads for the singer. To date, Evans has placed eighteen titles in the Top-40 on the Hot Country Songs charts, with four of those peaking at No. 1, most recently with "A Little Bit Stronger" in May of 2011. Billboard caught up with the songstress on the set of her video shoot for "Slow Me Down" last week. Her new record is not the only thing that makes her smile these days, as she will be keeping her eyes on the football field this fall. "I'm so excited. My son's first game was a week ago last Thursday. He's in the eighth grade. He scored a touchdown in their jamboree, and I got up and screamed!" Football is very close to Sara's heart, with her husband Jay Barker being a popular sports talk show host in Birmingham. He also was QB for the Alabama Crimson Tide during their National Championship season of 1992. The 615 is excited to keep you updated on the progress of Sara's new album throughout the fall. Stay tuned...

I hadn't heard this yet and feeling confident that I would enjoy it, I bought it on iTunes and listened to it for the first time today. I made a good purchase. I am really enjoying this song! The production is very contemporary country, which was surprising because I thought Sara would stick with the more traditional sound, but I'm not complaining at all because I really enjoy the production (except the guitars get rather loud at the end of the second chorus). The song itself is really great too - strong lyrics, although there is no bridge :(. Also this is easily one of Sara's best vocals I've ever heard from her. The "slow me do-ow-own" part sounds great.
I'm hoping that the early start with this on the charts is a good sign that radio is going to get behind this and make it another big hit for Sara.

I was hoping for something like A Little Bit Stronger, but I was quite disappointed with what I heard. I was expecting from the posts in here that I was going to hear something stellar, but my ears didn't. The part most people like I can't stand and this is something that sounds like it should have been on her career low record (her last one, IMO).
I guess I am just completely over the country genre as a whole since I didn't like Lady A's last album.

What's a good, representative album of Sara's that I could listen to? I just realized how much I love her voice but have never heard any of her catalog other than a few singles.

"Restless" is a good one. "Real Fine Place" and of course her "Greatest Hits." "Born To Fly" was her breakout album (though "No Place That Far" was her breakout hit from the 1998 released album).

Real Fine Place is the way to go, imo. That album is absolutely STACKED with amazing songs. It is by far my favorite record as a whole in her catalog and boasts the best marriage of neo-traditional and contemporary country sounds.

The one indulge country mentioned is really great too, but I feel that 'Restless' shows off more range in what she can do if you're looking for her vocals. 'Real Fine Place' is a better album in terms of cohesion but I always felt like it'd flow better with a track or two taken off. Not sure which songs I'd take out as I love all of them but I feel like it got a little long. 'Restless' has more adventurous sounds IMO. Can't go wrong either way though. :)

Real Fine Place is the best choice overall, but I would love to put together a mix of all her album cuts cause each album has some stellar songs that never made radio. What That Drink Cost Me from her last CD is excellent :)

I'd have to put in my vote for Three Chords and the Truth. That is a magnificent album from start to finish. For almost every single one of her albums, I enjoy about half the tracks, but that is the exception. I do second the notion that "What That Drink Cost Me" is among her best efforts ever, and it does lead me to overrate Stronger sometimes.

Hands down for me the choice is Restless. For me, this is easily her strongest album to date because it's the one that has the fewest weak songs on it. Niagra and Otis Redding are 2 reasons alone to buy this cd. It's also the one that has Suds in the Bucket in it if you like that song (although radio wore it out so much that I'll be happy if I never hear that song again).

From the Boot and just for indulgecountry:
Sara Evans has had another career first. The multi-platinum selling singer just earned her biggest first week radio adds to date, with her latest single, âSlow Me Down.â
The song is the first release from her upcoming seventh studio album, which will be available early next year. While Evans â who is co-producing her new record with veteran producer Mark Bright â didnât write the song, she says it resonated so strongly with her, she knew she had to include it on the upcoming project.
âI knew, as Iâve known with other songs that Iâve written and recorded, that âSlow Me Downâ was me,â Evans explains. âI love songs that evoke emotion â it really is what connects people to the music. When we went into the studio to record ['Slow Me Down'] my main goal was to capture the desperation and passion in the song â to strike a balance between a strong vocal and the emotion that would pull in the listener.â
Evans, who recently shot a video for âSlow Me Down,â will make her first trip Down Under next week for an Australian tour before she puts the finishing touches on her new album. Listen to âSlow Me Downâ here.
