How close does that make them? I just know the controversy did not hurt sales one bit.

How sad that bigotry + overt trashiness = sales gains.

According to Soundscan last week she had a 8 or 9k lead over the 1850s era white trash kkk clan. Even if it ends up the HD #s (which it'll unlikely be) as BB has been underestimating WIDs sales almost every week, she would still be in the lead even if its just by 2-3k. That would be fine, but what possibly concerns me is the week after (last week of the damn year). This story is just blowing up more and more and they could very much unfortunately see enough of a benefit from the publicity (as negative as its been) from the stinky, musky Hillbilly's more than Kelly that last week of the year :/. Its all about ANY publicity is good publicity and there are *endless* amounts of hollow brained sheep out there in America who'll buy their album just to buy it 'cause of the controversy (not due to even liking the album) lol. Yes, f*cked up rationale but very much a reality in America. :##

Come on Kelly, give us the baby's name. Sales will skyrocket with that headline.

Kelly should endorse Ron Paul again. ^ Okay, now that's funny. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all other politically correct salutations to those out there who appreciate the stunning talent and budding legend that is Kelly Clarkson.

Kelly should endorse Ron Paul again. Or talk about the cheating rumours again Or speak out against the Duck Dynasty dude in a passive-aggressive letter posted on her wordpress blog? BTW, did they remove the link to her blog on her website? I remember it being on there.

So do Christmas albums just drop rock bottom in sales post Christmas or is the decline less steep?

Sometimes they still see decent sales for a few days to a week. Especially on iTunes where people flock to use their gift cards they got as gifts.

It seem that Kelly recorded 'Underneath' and 'Blue' during her visit to NBC's 'Today Show', the latter of which I believe was only broadcasted today:

As this era comes to a close until next year, it has been probably the funnest era I have experienced as a fan. Congratulations to Kelly for having the most played Holiday song of the year ! We will know in the next week whether she also can claim to have the best selling Holiday album of the year !

For those who missed it the first time, Kelly's Christmas Special will be re-airing in 27 minutes on NBC.

There are a lot more haters on twitter right now than there were during the first airing. Still lots and lots of love, but there's also a lot of really hateful talk this time around, too.
Re-airing during prime time on Christmas Day likely pulled in a lot more casual viewers (aka rude asses with no Christmas sprit).

I've been a fan of Kelly since Breakaway and without a doubt this is my favorite era to experience as a fan. I can only hope she uses all the soul and emotion on this record on her next. This album will be the gift that keeps giving every year.

Sad that it is time to put this album away soon! I've fallen in love with her version of "Silent Night" the past few days!

From Billboard.com:
Kelly Clarkson's "Wrapped In Red" slips two positions to No. 5 with 124,000 (down 9%).

According to Billboard today, sales from last week:
Prior the prior week, Billboard reported this:
Therefore, according to Billboard, sales through and including Sunday, December 22 should resemble:
'Duck' at 575k + 132k= 707k 'Wrapped' at 578k+ 124k= 702k
After these numbers where Billboard reports that 'Duck' is 5k copies ahead as of December 22, there are still 9 more days of sales before the close of the year. As of this writing, 'Wrapped' has fallen much less than 'Duck' on iTunes and still remains the #2 album on Amazon, ahead of 'Duck', fully appreciating that the physical sales of 'Duck' are proportionately higher those of 'Wrapped'.

Ratings for the encore airing of the Christmas special: not bad and again edged out Buble and other Christmas specials for the night (and almost tied Gaga's premiere airing of her Thanksgiving special this year):

Funny, I didn't think Kelly losing out on the title of most sold Christmas album this year could be any more frustrating than I originally thought when DD was initially outselling her.
I was wrong. Assuming she doesn't retake the lead next week, it really boggles my mind that she misses out by a few thousand copies, and seemingly because some bigot made some homophobic remarks. I really can't!

I really don't think it's a big deal if DD outsells WIR as the "top-selling" holiday album of the year. Both are nearly neck-and-neck in sales, and I think we know which one will stand the test of time in the long run :)

I would like to personally extend a hand to her so she can kiss it and then tell her bravo for picking the right country acts to collaborate with time and time again. Its a who's who of the very few Country folk i do enjoy! I cant wait for them to make that Nashville soul sound. Get at it!

It really isn't important who sells the most and I explained this multiple times before the sales even began. However, it is the way it happened that makes it hard to swallow. Seeing Kelly outsold because of some racist and homophobic comments just stinks. You shouldn't be rewarded for that behavior. I hope Kelly has a better after Christmas period. Digital sales should be stronger for her because of gift cards and maybe it will be just enough to push her over them. If not, I will forever think of her as having the best selling Christmas album because DD is not even worth remembering.
