The cool thing about this album is that it will have legs for years to come. It just sounds like an instant classic, and songs like Winter Dreams and Wrapped in Red can be promoted next year.

Excited for this! Assuming it's going to be on Martina McBride's next album, it'll be a cover song of some sorts (the entire album is a covers album). *goes to relive their "Does He Love You?" duet*

Bummed that the era is over, but it was super super enjoyable as a fan. I'm so proud of Kelly for WIR, its one of the best Holiday albums I've heard and one of her best albums by far.
I wonder if in upcoming Christmas seasons, Kelly will do some minor promo for it…like a TV performance or two? Michael Buble seems to have done some every year since his came out. Also, would radio re-send songs for adds when the season starts?

I don't know if she would, but she should promote every Christmas. She loves that holiday, so I don't see the harm. A couple of late night show performances, tree lightings, that would do. She could also promote a different single next year, either Winter Dreams or Wrapped In Red would be amazing, or even re-issue the album with a new original. She could even make a new TV special, a-la-Michael Bublé. Sky is the limit.

I don't know how much effort she'd put into it, but I'd be really surprised if she didn't do at least a bit of promo for it in future years. I certainly got the sense that RCA was gung-ho about this album precisely because of its long-term potential, and I think Mariah and Michael Buble are both examples of how successful continued promotion can be (though in Mariah's case it goes beyond just about pushing the song and is more about staking down her legend status). There's always the option of promoting a different single next year but I hope they do not do so at the expense of UTT, I think continuing to push that is what will eventually solidify it as a holiday classic.

I would like to personally extend a hand to her so she can kiss it and then tell her bravo for picking the right country acts to collaborate with time and time again. Its a who's who of the very few Country folk i do enjoy! I cant wait for them to make that Nashville soul sound. Get at it! Coco Aguilera

Hugely successful era for Kelly, and definitely one of the most fun to follow. I love the album and will play UTT all year long. I can't help but wish it had exploded a bit more, but Kelly/RCA did essentially everything they possibly could and the album sold very, very well. I do hope they push UTT next year again and try and get it moving-- it does have the potential to be a modern Christmas classic.

Quick question. This is at 700k approximately right? This week would add anoter 130k so she ends up with about 850k at least this year?

My family was watching the special on Christmas night, and my Mom said "I heard her sing some of this somewhere and I thought she sounded screechy." The gay gasp I made was heard in four counties.
Needless to say I have disowned her and now I need a new mom.
This was a flawless era, looking forward to what Khalessi Clarkson has in store for 2014. I'm praying a Sia-penned smash or two make the next album, and that this country EP is so old school that it makes me adopt a basset hound, marry a woman, cheat on her with a truck, and sit in a rocking chair on the front porch of my cabin.

Yahoo Music News' Paul Grein has posted even different numbers (same as the ones sent to that country site) showing 'Wrapped' having a 2k lead over 'Duck'- not sure what is correct, lol:
HDD posted this:
The sales of 'Duck' have fallen much harder than those of 'Wrapped' from nearly every online music retailer. Stay tuned, people !!!!!!!

In today's album-selling climate, 700k for a Christmas album is definitely going to make the label happy.

In today's album-selling climate, 700k for a Christmas album is definitely going to make the label happy. 700k for a regular album would make a label happy, for an Xmas album those numbers are exceptional! And it'll sell well for years to come. I'm sure by the end of next Christmas season it'll be well past 1 million copies sold.

I can really see Wrapped in Red coming back decently every year like Michael Bublé's album.

I really don't understand how Billboard would continually make the mistake of excluding Christian Album sales from the totals? Are they just trying to create some excitement, or are they really that oblivious?

^Considering the errors current BB staff have made in the recent past, they probably are that oblivious, lol. Soundscan doesn't measure Christian album sales so it is probably an oversight on BB's part. Who reports the Christian #'s, actually?

What a lovely, lively era. She was radiant, worked her ass off, and delivered all of the goods--and sales. My one humbug? That Underneath The Tree didn't explode across the board as it should have. There's always next year!
And because I feel like it was ever-changing, my final, first-season ranking:
1. Underneath The Tree 2. Winter Dream 3. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 4. Every Christmas 5. Please Come Home For Christmas 6. Blue Christmas 7. Run Run Rudolph 8. Silent Night 9. I'll Be Home For Christmas 10. Just For Now 11. Oh Come Emmanuel 12. Wrapped In Red 13. 4 Carats 14. My Favorite Things 15. White Christmas 16. Baby It's Cold Outside
And the last two are the only ones I don't love, though I see the value in having a classic, subdued vocal with White Christmas. Baby... is practically a lump of coal if she didn't sound so damn good.

Kelly will miss out on another week at #1 on AC by just one day. She held on today but will lose it tomorrow. Too bad.

Since this era is almost officially over, will we be starting a new thread or simply changing the title of this one? I assume we are starting a new thread. I like the idea of WIR being its own special little thing untainted by endless following pages of random discussion.

What are the chances of this selling 250K next year?
Would be nice to see her 5th album (yes I'm counting All I Ever Wanted because it MUST be there by now) cross the 1 million sales mark.

I don't think either My December or All I Ever Wanted have crossed 1m in sales. The former was certified platinum though.

AIEW was at 974,000 last time we got numbers, and 968,000 the time before. So it's slowly inching its way there. WIR should go Platinum next year assuming it's around 800k by the end of this week

WIR, the already-certified platinum album, will have no problem scanning 1,000,000 sometime in 2014. I don't see how there is any question about that.

I think there's a good chance. If they release new singles to radio. Look at how well Buble's is doing, and Groban's crossed the 6 million mark when all was said and done. Maybe UTT will get even more airplay next year!

OMG, I bet her baby bump can ousting most artists these days. I hope she has a girl, just so that little girl can have the same set of pipes as her mom.
