Acclaimney :'(
"Work Bitch" is still my favorite song on the album, without a doubt. Sure, it doesn't have the conventional melody-driven hook that we've come to expect from a pop song but that is completely justified given the level of energy and chutzpah displayed throughout the track. And any song that gets me on the treadmill without wanting to self-harm deserves some recognition.

Plus, the edit may have hurt it as well. It took emphasis away from the word "bitch", which is one of the selling points of the song. The song was basically declawed. I really think the tragic edit was a big part of the song's under-performance. I mean, 'Work work' is just awful, and - as you said - it completely declawed the song and removed all of its oomph. As I much as I love 'Work Bitch', I almost wish they had pushed something else as the first single so that a crap edit wasn't needed.

Despite loving this song, I maintain that this was not a good choice for the lead single. If they had insisted on an uptempo, dance song, they should have gone w/ "Til It's Gone". There would be no need for an awkward radio edit and it offers more lyrical substance. If they were willing to deviate from the expected route of choosing an uptempo, dance song, they could have chosen either "Passenger" or "Alien".
Perhaps this will end up on being used on a couple of gym membership commercials once the New Year comes around.

I am sooo glad they released this song first, it's the best song on the album, easily. The radio edit had a huge impact on the song, it stunk so I can see your point but this song is classic, it reached 12 on the hot 100 regardless and is turning into a signature song of hers and it doesn't hurt the music video is top notch.
The big disappointed is they released perfume as the second single, sure she sounds great on It. I think it's the worst song on the album and the music video is flat especially for a Joseph Kahn video. I think anything they would have released off the album would have performed better including chillin with chu. I mean honestly did anyone watch the iTunes position for this song, even with the video release I don't think it cracked the top eighty and been close to top twenty on pop radio for weeks and it's iTunes position is one twenty something or worse.
I don't care what they release off the album but I do hope tic tic boom is released,

I actually think this was a great first single. It still sounds great even after months of being out. It should've been way bigger than it was.
#102 on iTunes... don't call it a comeback

Howuch has this sold so far? What have the reviews been on her Vegas show? I was also just about done with her even though I've been a fan for 15 years. The documentary helped.

LITERALLY the least just flop of 2013. I'm going to appeal it's reception at pop radio to the goddam Supreme Court.

As time goes by I think this will eventually become another Brit classic in the vein of Slave and Gimme More. Not much of a chart success but definitely strong enough to make an impact.

I had hoped her outfit was gonna look a lil more like this (than just, say...lingerie): I love how you ended up getting your way with them changing the lingerie bottom to loose black pants

Seriously, can't they just air the WB tour performance on some award show? This song just won't die and one performance would probably push it to the top 40 at least.

It would be cool if radio started playing this song again, even cooler if they played the unedited version. I think it would start shooting up the iTunes chart, this is a song you have to hear a few times before you can appreciate. People are hearing clips of the song on tv, clubs, etc and beginning to like it. Radio would be great for this song.
anyone know how much this has sold digitally, I'm thinking around 700.000 but hope more.

Loving the longevity of this on iTunes. If only pop radio had received it better. Maybe with a performance or two this could've been pushed into the Top 10 there, at least. How much has this sold to date? I hope it can somehow manage to go Platinum.
