Wow hopefully this means she will drop her actual studio album before this. She could maybe drop it in the summer or earlier to space out the releases a little bit. I hope we hear some news about a first single soon. IIRC I read an article a while ago that said Rihanna is gonna release 2 albums this year, but I'm not sure if that was confirmed fake or not.

Lord, is she really doing a whole album for a kids' movie.
From "Rated R" to "Rated G".

Rihanna is probably the last person I would ever want a concept album from. That's not her lane and I hope this isn't the first step in them trying to brand her as some serious album artist.

It's a Dr. Seuss concept album... I can't imagine that "serious" is the intent, but they're definitely trying to legitimize her by calling this a "concept album" rather than a soundtrack

I don't understand this move at all. I could see maybe a song for the soundtrack, but an album? For an animated children's movie? What? It almost sounds like a silly rumor.

Oh whoops, didn't see the movie it was for. Yeah this doesn't make any sense for her. Must be a massive paycheck because she has been the opposite of kid friendly for the better part of 3 years now.

Rated R was sort of a concept album. Probably as good as a 'concept album' from her could get. I'm not sure why they feel the need to bill Home as a concept album. There's no shame in an artist doing an entire soundtrack (hey, Prince did it three times!) and if they think the fact that it's for a cartoon makes it seem less serious, calling it a 'concept' isn't going to change that.
I might be the only person who's kind of intrigued by this? I dunno, it seems like it would be a very cute album and she might even experiment with some different stuff (or different for her, anyway) b/c she doesn't feel any pressure to make sure everything sounds like a hit.
Just read the movie description and um...that sounds like it is going to be a hot mess lmao. That doesn't change me being kind of interested in what the soundtrack sounds like though, in fact if anything I am more confident she is probably not going into this expecting it to be a hit album. (Ok maybe that's just me hoping she has sense enough to know this is a fluff project)

It'll probably have 2-3 songs by her and she'll essentially serve as executive producer for the album.
She's not going to record an entire album for a kid's movie. It's not even a musical.

I think my wish is coming true...Drake and Rihanna have been spending a lot of time together!! She's been to four of his shows on this tour, they've been going to the same night clubs, and appeared on stage for their first performance of "Take Care".

I'm hoping something along those lines is the case. I fully expect her to have a single and/or album out before The Monster Tour shows start in August.

I always liked Drake and Riri. His corniness seems like it would work well with her no fucks given attitude.

I think she's a serious album artist. I'll admit that I'm biased being a Rihanna fan, but all of her albums have had good reviews (maybe TTT and Unapologetic more mixed) and they sell well (6 platinum albums since 2006 ain't easy). I'm not expecting Pink Floyd depth to her music but I think her personal story could make for a good concept album in the future.

Rihanna LOVES music and wants to keep on creating and releasing new music. I have no problem with that, I actually admire that!

The female game is so boring now. I agree, I miss 2011 when Gaga, Rihanna, Kesha, Katy, Pink, and Britney were all smashing at the same time.

I don't get how a soundtrack album is so undoable for Rihanna. It'll probably consist of songs that aren't that much different in both theme and sound from those like Diamonds, We Found Love and Stay. Those songs are open enough that they could be placed over a scene in a film and have them fit.

(Ok maybe that's just me hoping she has sense enough to know this is a fluff project) I think Good Girl Gone Bad, Rated R and Loud are all strong concept albums in their own right. She gave up the consistent-image throughout-the-era and concept thing during Talk That Talk & Unapologetic, so people see them as less conceptual. I remember reading an interview during the Talk That Talk era where she said she was at point in her career where she didn't need the image gimmick to carry an album anymore (not in those exact words, but the general idea). Rated R is the most sonically cohesive album she's released ever, but Good Girl Gone Bad and Loud were concept albums too, in their respective light. Good Girl Gone Bad was the shedding of safety. The image re-vamp fit with the album title and she began acting very unapologetic and like a star during that time. I find Loud to be her Prism (only without the whole "recording dark material" and then scrapping it for pop stuff when the label hated it), because it was rooted to be a light record from the get-go. It was about letting go of the negative energy and having a rebirth. Rated R was a very dark time in her life, and the music/imagery was really dark, right down to the tour visuals. Loud was like the reincarnation of a pop star. The songs were light, the image was bright and it was the polar opposite of what she had been for the last 2 years.

I hope Rihanna does not make nobody wait until fall. for no damn album. I know it's Jay Z's doing just so Rihanna wont be a threat to Beyonce's current success. I mean, I know she would still prevail cause she's Queen B but I think it would def. be throwing a monkey wrench in the work, especially if the songs are shittin.

Now that Paris Fashion Week is over (where she looked fab by the way), she's now in Amsterdam with Drake. *sigh* I can only imagine what they are doing... ;)
