RUNNING COMMENTARY:
• After 3 weeks "bubbling under" (1 Breakout and 2 On The Verge), Tegan and Sara, finally, edge on to the chart.
• After "Stay", Ryan mentioned that this is Rihanna's 207th straight week on the chart, but will it be the last? He leaves us in suspense about the fate of "Right Now"...
• …and, "Right Now" takes an 18 notch tumble. Both RiRi songs are threatening to fall off at the same time.
• At this point, I feel pretty confident calling the droppers. It's a no brainer that Gaga will debut. The question, is "where?"...
• …and the answer, #24. A few spots lower than I was expecting. I was predicting somewhere in the #21-#19 zone.
• Moving up 15, "Wake Me Up!" is the week's biggest mover. I prefer to give credit to Aloe Blacc, even though the label doesn't.
• "Roar" had over 550,000 downloads in a single week, a better opening week than any of her previous singles.
• "Give It 2 U" is the Subway Fresh Buzz Song of the week.
• I'm not a fan of the "Extra clumping", this week. Three back-to-back pairs, now. Spread them out a little.
• Two Krewella extras?…Someone likes them, this week.
• Right before the top 5, Ryan says there's a shake-up at the top spot…say what?
• Ellie had the Two For One a month ago with "Anything Could Happen". Now, she gets it, again, with her other hit.
• Okay…no shake-up. What's Ryan talking about?
• At 8 weeks, "Blurred Lines" has the longest run at #1 since "Bleeding Love" in 2008.

We'll certainly hear "Applause" come in pretty high up. Not sure who's going to disappear, besides obviously "Crazy Kids".

In any case, this could be fun. :) Have we ever really done a "live" thread for an AT40 on here before?

And then he said that Drake was in the "Breakout" spot before playing the Krewella song so designated. The Breakout, On the Verge, and Subway Fresh Buzz designations are becoming nearly interchangeable, it seems.

^ Not sure about her for this week. Next week seems more likely, I'm thinking, though there is the off-chance that she'll shoot straight into the countdown.

Two Krewella extras and no current (yet) hit from them; that's unusual from an act that isn't all that well-established yet. Nice to hear the Killers song, as it's not an overly obvious choice; it only got to #24 on AT40 in 2004, but is well-remembered and the band is still active, as Ryan pointed out.

Not sure what this allusion to a "shake up at the top is" (we're at #5 as I type this.) Certainly the Mediabase rankings don't point to anything other than "Blurred Lines" staying at #1 for at least a couple more weeks (probably at least 9 or 10 overall.)

Ellie Goulding gets a Two for One with "Lights" (#1 a year ago this week.) A few weeks ago she got the same treatment with "Anything Can Happen".

EDIT: Apparently this "shakeup" is at the #2 spot, with Maroon 5 replacing Imagine Dragons. AT40 has been a bit more generous to M5 than Mediabase has; "Love Somebody" probably should be #3 at best using MB, and "Daylight" got a week at #1 on AT40 that wasn't really justified if you follow the Mediabase list strictly (it was #1 there for only one day IIRC.)

This chart looks like a mess. Lady Gaga should have blown into the Top 20, FGL drops bigger than I expected and some other songs don't seem to be placed correctly. And "22" was played as an extra weeks ago, so why? This also happened with "The Story Of Us" back in the summer of 2011, so Taylor seems to be adored on this chart every once in a while. Ellie gets the Two For One once again. I want Miley to get the Two For One next week. And this could mark the end of an era for RiRi as her streak of more than 200 consecutive weeks on the AT40 faces complete peril.

Anyways...

My guess is, either Eminem or Selena will get the Subway Buzz song - but whichever one doesn't, will go straight into the countdown. That's why I'm kind of thinking Selena might go straight in, with Eminem being the bigger-named artist therefore getting the Buzz song for a week, after "Roar", "Applause", and now "Give it 2 U" (which follows up the massive success of "Blurred Lines") all having just done the same.

My local station just keeps skipping all the optional extras. They used to play them, but recently they keep skipping them now. I look forward to them, but no chance.
