Here is the billboard review for this song! ARTIST: SARA EVANS SINGLE: A REAL FINE PLACE TO START It took some time, but Sara Evans has blossomed into one of country's most formidable talents. She has a voice like an angel and a penchant for selecting great material. That combination of song sense and vocal passion yields another fine single that previews her forthcoming RCA set. Penned by Radney Foster and George Ducas, the lyric has a joyful, buoyant take on love, and Evans' voice soars with every celebratory note. The production provides the perfect framework for Evans to work her vocal magic. The last couple of years have seen her hit her stride as a hitmaker, and this gorgeous single should continue that momentum. aolsvc.news.aol.com/entertainment/article.adp?id=20050429210109990019&cid=525

During last week’s video shoot for Sara Evans’ new single, “A Real Fine Place to Start,” Evans barely escaped with her life after heading for the Nevada desert and Valley of Fire State Park. Evans got close to a rattlesnake, and her wardrobe nearly caught fire while filming too close to a fire pit. The video called for Sara to gaze up at the sun during a sequence near a cliff, causing dizziness to kick in near the edge.

I love it! Sara does a good job with this love song that doesn't put me to sleep. When I listen to this one, I seem to find myself hitting that repeat button. Chalk up another fine one for songwriter Radney Foster!
BTW, I very rarely put females at the top of my personal chart (last instance was "Don't Tell Me" by Avril Lavigne last year), but this song is currently at the top of my chart. Great light-hearted song!

I'm the opposite....I don't prefer many male singers at all.

The video premiered on CMT's Top 20 this week. What did everyone think?
I think she looks amazing... it's a good treatment for a lead single, mostly featuring her. The shots on the cliff are my favorite... beautiful and very glamorous. The ones by the fire are a bit cheesy, but there aren't many of them. The ones of her with the band show that she's still got the girl-next-store vibe. I like the use of the young couple on the motorcycle, too. Too many videos these days are just the artist with no 'story.' This one balances both nicely.
This video should do a good job of winning more people over to the song. Considering all the mishaps during the video shoot, Sara should be pleased!

Her upcoming album has been pushed back till October 4th. BIG MISTAKE as A Real Fine Place To Start has really taken off and will peak before the cd release date! >:( On a lighter note she has stated "Coal Mine" will be her next single. Haven't heard it but sounds promising.

Well, that album date stinks because as you said, the song could peak before that. But maybe it will stay around long enough to peak in October.
Sara has said things about singles before and then they have changed at the last minute...so I'm going to wait and see what the label does before I get too excited.

I also love this song and am glad to see it doing well. It does lean towards the pop end of the country spectrum, but hey, a good song is a good song.

I hate to be the terd in the punch bowl here, but I saw the Sara video and thought she looked a little uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong... she looked BEAUTIFUL! In fact, I think she could possibly be the most attractive woman in country music. BUT, in past things I've read about her, she seems to have a healthy competitive spirit concerning image with the other attractive country ladies. I think with all the cleavage and acting so sultry in this video, maybe it's not really "her"?? She just looks a little uncomfortable in the "overtly sexy" role. She's sexy as all get-out without being overt. Anyway, I realize it should probably be more about the music than the video anyway. Concerning the song, every time I hear the intro I think it's an old Suzy Boggus tune. It has a familiar, nostalgic chord structure and it's really catchy. I always turn this one up when I'm driving in the car.

I see where you're coming from, firedancer. I also think she's one of those naturally gorgeous ladies. I can handle this video, especially when I compare it to what's on VH1 and MTV. I'm not trying to give Country videos a green light to be more sexy, but in my opinion Sara pulls off the "unintentionally sexy" vibe quite well.
I'm excited to see this continuing its way up the charts. Hopefully it goes all the way to the top! As for that album release, perhaps they're trying to duplicate Toby's "Pull My Chain" and have the 2nd single shipped to radio by the time the album comes out. Note I didn't say HTU, where the first single skydove down by the album release date, but rather PMC where the first single was a hit and the 2nd single was already on its way up. Now, granted, that was a Dreamworks error having "I Wanna Talk About Me" out by then, but it worked for Toby, and it could work for Sara.

As amazing as this song is, wait til you hear the rest of the CD. It is stunning. I've heard 5 of the other songs (Cheatin, These Four Walls, Tell Me, Mamma's Night Out, and Roll Me Back) and they are all different and amazing. If you want to hear them, go to CountryHitSongs.com and register to "Rate songs" and listen to all the songs on there until those song titles come up. WARNING: YOU WILL HAVE TO SUFFER THROUGH NUMEROUS LONESTAR CUTS!! It was hard, but I just put my computer on mute until I saw the right song titles come up. Let me just tell you, I listened to a couple and they are as dreadful as ever. Ok... that's over... back to Sara. She could have made so many mistakes on this album by: Falling into a rut and making too many similar songs Gone too pop and have everything overproduced Gone too "safe country" and pick songs that she didn't really want to sing just for radio play.
BUT SHE DIDN'T
All these songs are plenty country, have a great pop edge, have great lyrics, have great delivery, and are all perfect for radio. I cannot wait until this album comes out.

I have to totally agree with you about Sara's new cd, while I think "A Real Fine Place To Start" is better than the other 5 songs I really really like "Cheatin" and "Mammas Night Out". I love the lyrics to "These Four Walls", because I know it must mean soo much to Sara, but the song itself bores me. The other two are nothing stand out but still great Sara Evans music!
