This is a thread for all the aspiring A&Rs and record label bosses here on the board. I mean, since most nobody here is actually going to be one, I though it would be a good place for posters to get their imaginary tycoon tendencies out of the way of the actual discussion topics, and consolidate them here.
How are you going to get Miley's BANGERZ to 10 million album sales? Which fifteen singles are you going pick for Robin Thicke to get him to platinum before the end of the year? How would Jordin's Battlefield have been more like Adele's 21 if you could have picked the singles?
Pick the singles, pick the schedule, the promo itinerary, the budget, it's all you. You never know, Clive Davis might be reading this thread and poaching you to head his next venture before the day is done.

It's funny that you made this thread Jack! In honor of the Queen's new single Work Bitch this is what I think should happen this era. This is how I think the era should play out: 12-13 singles, depending on the number of songs on the CD. 7 Bonus Tracks, all written by Britney - one will be a single Work Bitch top 10 on Pop, top 5 Hot 100 and breaks streaming records Second Single late November just before album release, urban banger like Miley's We Can't Stop and Robin Thicke's Give It 2 U (Pop/Rhythmic Hit) Album titled Diary of a Mad White Woman: the Pimp Chronicles aka Spearitual Gangstress (It Gets Realer and also Urbaner) Very Cool[/b] Single is a winter smash and debuts in the top 5 after Work Bitch hype Performances on: -Ellen -The Today Show -The Tonight Show -The Tomorrow Show -The Voice -Ellen Again -Oprah -106 & Park -Wheel of Fortune -The Ed Sullivan Show All performances on album release week in time off from Vegas Album debuts #1 Third single in Feb 2014 (Pop), followed by cheating scandal and third child pregnancy with Simon Cowel when her twitter is hacked Breaks up with lawyer boyfriend in March (Urban Only)[/b] Fourth single (perfume) video shoot in space, used as new number for Vegas Video breaks Vevo records and proves very controversial, consisting of glamor shots of her feet Twitter hack scandal true when Britney is actually pregnant, talk about abortion on Bill O'Reily Album Goes Platinum in April Re-Release double singles in June, one for Pop and one for HAC/Christian Gospel Both flop, releases new material as an EP; new single from original album 8 in July Performs single 6/7 on MTV VMAs Video directed by Gwenyth Paltrow released after, including Christina Aguilera cameo Attends funeral for Lady Gaga in August Single eight release coinciding with new perfume called Curious 2: 2 Cute 4 U Remaining singles released throughout 2014-2015 featuring remixes by Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Ashanti, and Kelly Clarkson Sean Preston gets engaged late 2015 This is a thread for all the aspiring A&Rs and record label bosses here on the board. I mean, since most nobody here is actually going to be one, I though it would be a good place for posters to get their imaginary tycoon tendencies out of the way of the actual discussion topics, and consolidate them here. You continue to stan for me, it is too flatttering but we are here to discuss music and I am flattered you devote so much of your time to me. But lets stay on topic. [/quote]

So, on a more serious and remarkably less interesting note, let's talk about Bonnie McKee. She and Epic kicked things off really well in June with the video and promo for "American Girl," but they have let things fizzle out since the as the song has done the same on radio. Some thoughts/suggestions:
Spring 2013: record covers of songs she's written for others, or put her spin on other songs by those artists, then post to YouTube Late May/early June: release "American Girl" with free tweet-to-unlock or email-unlock download for a few weeks before pushing to digital retailers; release lyric video June: adds date for pop and HAC to run concurrently with station visits and live in-studio performances; push the song up the charts so it's comfortably on the chart and has decent callout by July July: release star-studded video the week(end) pre-July 4; get guest artists to tweet about it; continue boosted ascension up charts with TV appearances (GMA - don't wail at the end though and create the "McKee Scream" - America's Got Talent, etc.) July 4: some form of appearance at a popular, televised event (I'm thinking the Boston Pops concert idea but something smaller) Late July/early August: as "American Girl" is presumably peaking (I don't know how idealistic that is/n't), release medley video of the hits she's written Late August/early September: release 4-5-track preview EP of album, with at least one bonus cover September: release second single with pop/HAC adds date; continue TV promo into October October or November: tour dates announced and tour begins, likely as an opener to someone in the Radio Disney niche like Demi or Selena along with like Fifth Harmony November: album release (either in first half of month, then discount the week of Black Friday; or during Black Friday week - she isn't going to #1 so getting her onto shelves next to something like the new 1D album is good for potential buyers)

Consider my post here as a simultaneous open letter to RCA (I'm assuming someone there, assuming they graduated from high school, reads this invaluable forum). Promo Schedule for Kelly Clarkson's Upcoming Record-Breaking Christmas Holiday Winter Album, Wrapped in Red Phase One Employ time machine. First single, Clarkson and Kurstin-penned "Underneath the Tree," should have been released on September 24, 2013, to maximize buzz and build CHR/Hot AC/AC audience points, ensuring a Hot 100 #1 on album release week and a high six-figure album opening. Performances will now include: -Faux-exclusive single announcement/performance on Ellen -Performance on Good Morning America -Performance on Watch What Happens live (first musical performance ever, live blogged by RealityTVgifs.tumblr.com) -Interview on Chelsea Lately
Phase Two Real time. With the single having weeks of visibility within the iTunes top 10 (fairly certain it'd be number1 but trying to remain realistic), it is safe--and good business sense--to begin the release of what we call "promo singles." It's all about buzz, people. Release schedule: October 8: Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (#1 iTunes peak) October 15: Silent Night (feat. old country legends) (#1 iTunes peak, is also immediately sent to Country radio) October 22: White Christmas (the given catastrophic label mistake that only peaks at #3 on iTunes and eradicates any possibility of a million-plus album opening)
Performances: -Saturday Night Live (host + musical guest + EP) -Oprah special -O'Reilly Show (for her Texas fans)
Phase Three Album release week. It all comes down to this. The most important thing RCA do is deign to dip into their funds to have CBS move the Grammy's to Sunday, October 27, 2013--two days before the album drops. Given all the snubs she's received over the years ("Addicted" not receiving Song of the Year??), they're indebted to her. And they know it. Promo schedule: -The Grammy's -Ellen (interview + second "Underneath the Tree" performance + "Silent Night" + "Since U Been Gone (Xmas RemiX) -The Voice -X Factor -Home Shopping Network -Top Chef -Letterman -Leno
Phase Four International push. Hits 2-3 major shows in the following countries (may take up to two weeks): -UK -Australia -New Zealand -Germany -Italy -France -Austria -Czech Republic -Spain -Ireland -South Korea (huge market for her)
Phase Five Back home. Release second single, "Wrapped in Red." First artist in history to have two original Christmas holiday winter songs go to #1 from one album from an Idol winner that's a female (aka she beat Carrie!). Also the week of her Christmas special that airs on all the major networks and HBO (they get all the Emmy noms).
Phase Six Christmas Eve flash sale at Target, Wallmart, KMart, Costco, Big 5, the Gap, Nordstrom, and Walgreens. Album on sale for $4.99, finally gets the million-plus week sales.
Phase Seven Repeat first six phases for the next 3-4 years depending upon ROI.
Total album sales by January 1, 2014: 3,159,985. Total album sales by January 1, 2016: 10,007,423.

No way would Kelly get chart-topping Christmas holiday winter singles in September/October, though, nor would the album sell very well until after Thanksgiving (see BublΓ© as a close yet not totally similar comparison), queen and vocal chameleon that she may be. Yes to a holiday special, though (that had better actually be happening - is it?).

I'm worried that Christmas holiday Winter Extravaganza may result in overexposure. She should cancel her appearance at Top Chef at the last minute feigning some sort of illness. That'll get the sympathy buy from consumers, especially during the holidays.

When/if Mariah releases a new album, I will add my contributions to this thread. Until then, bowing at what is surely the thread of the year.

OB. Surely NOW is the time to submit your plan for Mariah's forthcoming album, since putting your words down might make it so.
Danny, the fact you've neglected to mention what single RCA are going to release from Wrapped In Red in February 2014 (they can't just let promo die out after a few weeks like they did with Breakaway) suggests you didn't put as much thought into that as you could have.

Hmm...I have Britney, Nicki, Miley and Rihanna ones that I could easily post...but I almost want a challenge like an artist that would need serious reviving. I can't wait for this to be nominated and also have 10+ pages. I also won't expect any credit. Not to say that you don't have class or respect about it but that I wouldn't expect you to state your inspiration for making this hit thread.

LOL, get them together Jack. It should be easy to come up with a plan for Mariah as her album has been delayed at least twice and she's sought new management. OB...the world is your oyster.

Maybe I should make a thread for those desperate to double post too? Tsk tsk. You are going off topic again. Lessons learned, remember This is an amazing thread subject and as I said before I don't expect credit to go to me...now if that meant giving someone else credit or taking it all yourself so be it...my statement is still applicable. We can PM/DM convo about your future threads that aren't inspired by me wink wink ;) ;) For now, what artists should be aim for: those currently in era, those with upcoming eras or those that keep postponing the obvious and the plans should cater to how to rectify their situations? Structure and guidance is key in order for this to be a quality hit thread. Anyone can make up threads purely based on emotional retaliation or off of gossip fodder that's hot for the moment but we need to ensure this thread is of quality, dignity and will outlast the gimmicky here today, gone tomorrow threads without substance that are hot for a week and disappear into oblivion the next week. I'm here to help in anyway that I can. If all else fails, I'll just post ones for Nicki, Miley, Rihanna and Britney to keep this at the top of the page where it belongs.

Any similarities between the original post, or to the reactionary posts, to the endless lists and net-speak psychobabble of slw84 are purely coincidental, and do not reflect the values, beliefs and irritations of Jack, and or everyone else on the board. That said, if you want to try and passive aggressively assume you're 'in on the joke' that may or may not be going on, and or claiming any kind of credit for it, I'd say that was like crediting the banana every time some schmuck slips on it. You can dress it up in as much hongry/thorsty/tired old clap-trap you want, if people far funnier and cleverer than you are engaging in a discussion, it's probably best not to get involved. Many of your posts are inane enough without having them sandwiched between purposefully hilarious or insightful ones. Giants, shoulders, standing, tall...rofl lol tsk.

Britney 8th era
- Work Bitch director's cut r eleased October 14th featuring Miley Cyrus twerking on Britneys sons, the controvery causes the song to shoot into the #1 spot, dethroning Royals - as a result Lorde shades Britney, the army then attacks Lorde causing her to delete her twitter account - Lady Gaga launches an antibullying campaign with Lorde to stop the army who has been attacking everyone dissing the directors cut - For The Record (Part 2) released December 2nd on FOX, along with single #2: "I Wrote This!!" (diss trick similar to Piece of Me), which gets blocked by Katy Perry's Unconditionally even after a Ke$ha remix (8.7k sold first week) - Album (titled: "idk think of something") debuts with 385k, ends up selling 1.43 million by Christmas 2014 - January 4th, another Glee episode dedicated to her, this time featuring only songs from her 8th album (the episode's story is horrible) - Glee debuts in the H100 top 50 for the first time in 2 years - March 9th: third single "I'm Slave 4 Frappuccino" debuts at #7, but has good longevity due to Starbucks commercial, goes #3 on pop, giving her her biggest pop hit (Work Bitch only peaked at #6, too indie for pop) - Video features paparazzi clips of Britney going to Starbucks every day for the past 6 years, public adoration grows as people find out how normal and homely she is - April 8th, she disappears, people think she died, album sales increase (Blackout goes #1) - turns out she secretly auditioned for The Voice with a mask under an alias (Guadalupeney), barely making the top 5 (constantly critisized for trying to be like Breetney or something) - her secret identity leaks, kicked out of the Voice, army attacks NBC, they make an exception and allow her to stay - with the help of the army she ends up winning the voice - most successful voice winner of all time, used in all voice commercials (free promo) - fourth single "My other Baby" (emotional summer ballad) spends 6 weeks at #1, *FIRST ERA WITH MULTIPLE #1s!* - reaches 45 million followers by the end of the era - Britney Spears - Greatist Hits #3: Work Bxxch released November 2014 (contains all her singles, and special remix of Radar feat. Justine Bieber (first song after her sex change, debuts top 20 on the H100)), sold together with another remix album (both flop)

Tsk tsk. You are going off topic again. Lessons learned, remember This is an amazing thread subject and as I said before I don't expect credit to go to me...now if that meant giving someone else credit or taking it all yourself so be it...my statement is still applicable. We can PM/DM convo about your future threads that aren't inspired by me wink wink ;) ;) I've consulted my legal team here on Pulse. I only read your 1st sentence. Those consultant fees must be out of this world and astronomical for you to have to get others to help you handle a situation that you couldn't handle on your own. legals fees are no joke. The time and fees associate with said situation makes the case closed. While there is no coincidence, you exhausted so much time, energy and effort when I can easily take 5 minutes to copy and paste the substantive evidence that is undeniable. LOL. The point that you don't seem to understand was to see how far you would go in allowing a poster to consume your attention away from the subject matter just because you didn't agree with their methods. You've done it in at least 2 different threads and counting I'm sure... But yes, we need to ensure this thread that I inspired isn't a flash in the pan and is at least nomination worthy and we know where the inspiration was derived. I think that you should update your original post and place more structure. For instance, while you read every word I post you never answer the questions that I ask...which is quite telling. Start with addressing those questions, I feel if we could separate these plans into certain categories it will have a broader appeal in the long run and look more organized. I'm here to help. This was cute for a little bit but the thinly-veiled personal attacks can be done. Complain about each other in PMs if you want, and real plans can go in this thread.
