The fact that so many Miley tracks have charted indicate that this album has potential legs. Let's see how it holds up during the 4Q. If it quickly fades, that might be a problem. WB is just getting into radio gear. She'll be just fine.

It's just funny because if Katy, Gaga, Brit do 200-300K everyone's gonna scream flop but with Miley it's "good numbers". I don't care what part of your career your in -- nobody in recent memory has outdone the hype that Miley has for this project. 250k for everything she's done and everywhere she's been is not an amazing figure.

Out of those people, I only think Gaga will be torn to shreds for flopping if she did only 250K.

Born This Way and The 20/20 Experience, Volume 1 were way more hyped. Yes, everyone is talking about Miley but with the Gaga and Justin albums, there was so much hype and curiosity around the music. People talking about Miley twerking and getting naked isn't going to sell albums by itself. When BTW and 20/20 came out, everyone wanted to hear the music, see what it was all about...I don't think all that many people care about Bangerz, at least compared to the amount of people who care about Miley. One could also make arguments for Red, Circus and Tha Carter III.
I do think these numbers are good, all circumstances considered. "Wrecking Ball" is selling the album, in addition to her revamped image.

Awesome numbers for Panic! And Miley's numbers are what I thought, she'll probably be consistent throughout the rest of the year

If Miley does as good as those predicted numbers then she should be happy. I don't know if this persona she's created will be good for her in the long run. Sure it's helping her to sell her music but she's wearing out her welcome with a lot of people. Those people now dismiss her as all hype and no substance kind of like the Kim Kardashian of music. What happens when the next big thing happens and she's yesterday's news? Will she be climbing over a stripper pole like Rihanna in her latest video desperately seeking attention? Now it's entirely possible she's got plans for her next act. I just can see her in a few years trying to distance herself from this twerking, naked Miley wanting to be taken seriously and having a hard time doing so.

People talk about hype, but it's worth considering that 3-4 months ago this album would have done under 100K. Miley had a longer way to go with this hype then say JT or Gaga. They already had established fan base. Miley's core core core fan base had moved one. Look at how her Dylan cover did, even with a video and promotion.

Most new albums fall 75%+ in their 2nd week so expect 105k next week for Justin.
Is my math right? lol

www.billboard.com/articles/news/5748226/miley-cyrus-bangerz-set-for-no-1-on-billboard-200Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' Set for No. 1 on Billboard 200 By Keith Caulfield, L.A. | October 09, 2013 4:58 PM EDT Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" is set to bang the gong at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week. Industry sources suggest that the album -- released yesterday (Oct. 8) -- could sell around 250,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Oct. 13. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Oct. 16. "Bangerz" is on course to sell more than twice the opening sum Cyrus' last album, 2010's "Can't Be Tamed." It debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 102,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. To date, the set has moved 348,000. Cyrus' new album was led by the single "We Can't Stop," which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Its follow-up track, "Wrecking Ball," became the singer's first No. 1 on the Hot 100 last month. "Bangerz's" potential start is on par with that of some other female pop singers in recent years. For example, Rihanna's "Unapologetic" started at No. 1 last year with 238,000 and Britney Spears' "Femme Fatale" launched at No. 1 in early 2011 with 276,000. P!nk saw her first No. 1 album, "The Truth About Love," debut atop the list with 280,000 in 2012. If "Bangerz" debuts at No. 1, it would be Cyrus' fifth chart-topper -- counting her soundtrack work as "Hannah Montana." Cyrus will lead a number of new entries in the top 10 next week. Other albums heading for a handsome start include Panic at the Disco's "Too Weird To Live, Too Rare to Die!," Pusha T's "My Name Is My Name" and Korn's "Paradigm Shift." Panic may sell around 90,000, while Pusha is heading for an 80,000 start. Korn's new effort could land with 40,000.

Just picked up the new Amos Lee CD. Psyched! One of very few artists that I buy their release on opening day. His last CD debuted at number one but this one might not even break the top 10

YOUR TOP 15: Two-thirds of next week's Top 15 could be debuts, but all eyes are on Miley. Meanwhile, look for a strong second-week showing by Lorde. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
1. *Miley Cyrus (RCA) 250-270k 2. *Panic! at the Disco (Fueled By Ramen) 95-100k 3. Drake (Young Money/Cash Money/Republic) 80-85k 4. Justin Timberlake (RCA) 70-75k 5. *Pusha T (Def Jam/IDJ) 70-75k 6. Lorde (Lava/Republic) 60-65k 7. *Cassadee Pope (Republic Nashville) 40-45k 8. *Korn (Prospect Park) 40-45k 9. *Alter Bridge (Alter Bridge) 30-35k 10. *Mayday Parade (Fearless) 27-30k 11. Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 25-28k 12. Cher (Warner Bros.) 24-27k 13. *Prince Royce (Sony Music Latin) 17-20k 14. *Amos Lee (Blue Note) 17-20k 15. *Cage The Elephant (RCA) 15-18k
*Debuts
In other news, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has offered to re-open the government if Miley will twerk in the rotunda. (10/10p)
Justin needs to promote this.

Justin's album is flopping in the UK and not doing well here either
Good sales for top ten compared to last week. Is that even an increase for Cher (even though it's album redemptions)

I'm not shocked at Justin's drops considering the performance of both singles from volume 2. Drake is really holding on nicely! Tt seems as if "Hold On, We're Going Home" really is doing its job as his crossover single this era. Lorde is also staying strong and she looks to be just under a 50% drop in her second week. :o

Closer to the Truth did around 25,000 SoundScan for this week, so if it finishes in the higher end of the projection, it could be an increase.

Glee's "The Quarterback" shot to #1 on iTunes following the airing of the Cory tribute last night. I think it could challenge for a Top 5 debut.

From Hits: That brings us to the present moment, which is shaping up as a memorable for one of the former BMG labels, with Peter Edge’s RCA turning up the heat entering Q4 fueled by two of 2013’s most effective marketing campaigns, both put into motion by Tom Corson. The debuting second half of Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience brings total sales on the collection to 2.7m, as well as putting him in the center of the Grammy conversation, while early retail reports indicate that Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz, which hit this Tuesday, is blowing past previous estimates, which were at under 200k as recently as Monday; the question now is how much over 250k it will sell in week one. According to Cyrus herself, Morris played a key role in bringing her to RCA.
