Re: This is What it Feels Like - I expected this to happen, but sadly it's a week or two too late now. :'( Really wish it would've broken out last week, but instead we had to get a third instance of Seacrest-era debut-less madness keeping the "new" songs static. Sigh... All Night will probably be the Subway Fresh Buzz Song, as it's the only Breakout of the three that's currently a voting option on the site. Though, that didn't stop them from making Closer the Buzz Song a couple months back. And another nice job on the Two For One. Let's hope if there will be more over the next few weeks that they'll continue to be this good. :)

Well, I'm glad I went to page 2...I was about to post this, myself (sans extras), since it's up early on the web site, this week. By the way, KelownaGuy20, you may want to fix the date in your post.
Look, kids...debuts! Though, anything's better than last week which seemed like the audio equivalent of watching paint dry. Always nice to see fresh Breakouts across the board. Rihanna's back after taking a month's vacation. She's got a record to break for most consecutive weeks in the top 40. Best get cracking. Ending a much longer drought are TLC. This week marks their first top 40 appearance in over a decade. They were here last with "Damaged" in the spring of 2003.
So Katy gets a 6th week at #1, here. She only had 5 on Mediabase. This is, most certainly, the end of the road for "Roar". Next week's fight will be between Lorde and Avicii.

Mandatory extras are well chosen. Optional ones, not so much, at least if you were looking for surprises. I'm sure we're all glad to be reacquainted with such long forgotten lost hits as "Party Rock Anthem", "Glad You Came", and "Somebody That I Used To Know"? For Rihanna to break her own record for most consecutive top 40 weeks, she'll have to stay in until mid-November 2017. It remains to be seen if she can keep turning out the albums like clockwork, each with a roughly year-long string of hits. When the Zedd/Hayley Williams song charts, it'll be the second time Hayley has charted both as Paramore leader and a featured artist on someone else's hit ("Airplanes" and "The Only Exception" did that in 2010.)

How long before "Counting Stars", "Brave",and "Let Her Go" debut? "Counting Stars": Could be as early as 2 weeks. I think it's got a good chance to Break Out next week. "Let Her Go": I'd say 3 or 4 weeks on this one. It'll likely narrowly miss Breakout Land next week, but the week after it should surface. Not sure how long it'll be there before debuting, but I think a debut week coming 3-4 shows after this one is a fair guess. "Brave": Too soon to tell; she'll need to pick up a little more. Hopefully before the end of the year. "The Fox": Hopefully never.

Huh...weird. I could understand it if the station was randomly one of their affiliates; it's that it's an Urban station that has me puzzled about it.

Ryan played a drop of "Faded" leading into the second Breakout (awesome that he did that, BTW ) - for those who aren't aware, Trevor Guthrie was lead singer of soulDecision. He also mentioned that that went to #6 back in 2000 - fun fact: in R&R, this weekend was its third and final week there. (Not sure of its AT40 peak though; they'd just broken off for the random Mediabase chart two weeks prior to this date.) In other boy band droppieces, there was also one of One Direction's new song after #30.

The one you didn't mention is as bad as the first one you mentioned. This wasn't really a comment on the quality of the songs; I like the Gotye and Wanted songs. It's just that I think it would have been more interesting if they had chosen less recent and/or overplayed songs. This week's extras include literally the two biggest hits from 2012 (as per AT40's year end countdown), and we all remember how PRA refused to die.

If my memory doesn't fail i think it peaked at 7 on American top 40

If my memory doesn't fail i think it peaked at 7 on American top 40 I checked the old records. "Faded" peaked at #6 on AT40, too. SoulDecision were a two-hit-wonder in the U.S.. The follow-up single, "Ooh It's Kinda Crazy" (which everyone around these parts kept comparing to George Michael's "Fastlove", because they sound alike) managed a respectable #22 peak on AT40 in early 2001. According to Wikipedia, SoulDecision broke up in 2005.

Will "Unconditionally" debut next week or be a breakout? On another note, I hope "Royals" hits #1 next week before "Wake Me Up" does.

Will "Unconditionally" debut next week or be a breakout? I'd call this a toss-up. It could go either way, depending on the day of the week that they get the chart from. On another note, I hope "Royals" hits #1 next week before "Wake Me Up" does. I hope so too, if only because I fear that "Royals" won't get to #1 if it's "Wake Me Up" that takes over next week. :(

Rick Dees' Weekly Top 40 is a much better countdown show anyway. I play both at work and all my co-workers prefer Dees over Seacrest...not even close.

The problem with Rick Dees is that he can't be heard in a lot of areas, except online. I listened to him all of 2004 instead of AT40, but then was forced to switch. He really is more fun to listen to. OK, we have some droppers. Let me count: Gone, Gone, Gone. Yup, that's 3. :)
My station in Miami, FL actually managed to start and end on time. That hasn't happened in many months. Anyway, Eminem is running out of steam, but Ryan mentioned that his new CD is due out on Tuesday. He also interviewed Kelly Clarkson, and they discussed her holiday album, and her wedding.
Perhaps "Fall Out" Boy should have done Radioactive. The three breakouts have titles similar or the same as older songs: Stay The Night, What It Feels Like For A Girl, and All Night Long.

I know what you are saying...it's like comparing the Beats (AT40) to V-Moda (Dees) headphones. You can buy the beats everywhere and everyone seems to have a pair, but the V-Moda's are special, rare, and tons better.
