Well this is done. Great six week run, will be off the charts in three weeks. What a joke. Aren't you overexaggerating a bit? This isn't "Get On Your Boots".

For the record, good call on Kongos.
Anyways, no, not overexaggeratin, though Get On Your Boots is one my favorite chart runs ever...anyways, horrible sales, only people that "fake liked it" were their fans who didn't want to say it was bad. Get ready to never hear this song again. I'd compare this to a Big Casino run by Jimmy Eat World.

Well, "Big Casino" did stay on the chart for 20 weeks. I think it's more accurate to say this will last 15-20 weeks on the chart than your previous predictions.

While this won't be the mega-hit they'd hope for out of a lead single following their last era's success, I gotta say I like this song a heck of a lot more than "Pumped Up Kicks". Then again, I really didn't like that song.

Loved Jimmy Eat World but that song was terrible. I still think this song will be gone in 3-4 weeks. I assume they have an "insurance plan" if you know what I mean...

I LOVE THIS SONG. It's absolutely my anthem right now. Don't right it off just yet fellas. It's kind of stalled at 5 right now but I think it has staying power. FTP are a pretty popular group, don't underestimate their fan base.

Although Chase this Light was easily their worst album since their self-titled (no, not Bleed American), I still have a soft spot for the singles

For all the posts about people not liking this song, it's had generally good showings in Rate The Music, including one week (and not the first one) where it was #1 in several demographics. This may have peaked, but I have a feeling it may still hang around in the top 10 for a while, like "Sirens" did.

I don't think it's dead yet either. Hopefully they still send it to pop radio.

I'm honestly indifferent - I won't be begging for it to go #1, but I won't be weeping if it plummets soon.
That said, I still see this as a potential "Entertainment". Although it only peaked at #11, keep in mind that it debuted at #19, so it moved up nine spots. "Coming of Age" debuted at #12, and it only peaked at #5, an ascension of only seven spots. In fact, this week on Billboard, it falls 5-6 with a +2 bullet.
So who knows?

Big Casino is second only to The Middle for me. It was a fantastic song, and was unlucky to be out at the same time as The Pretender and Fake It, two other great songs. With an average competion pool, it would've been a #1 and just as big as "Pain" at the very least.

The debut never matters, no one juges a song based on its debut. It's where it peaks that matters. On Alternative, Phoenix's "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" album was just about as big as "Torches" from FTP. They both had a #1, Phoenix had a #3 while FTP had a #4, but FTP had an extra top 10, and was doubtlessly helped by the extra popularity they gained on pop radio. HOWEVER, whether you like it or not, Phoenix AND FTP had the same expectation for their lead single. A top 5 hit with a possibility of going #1. "Entertainment" failed to do that, "Coming Of Age" did not. In fact, "Entertainment" was a a bigger flop than what we usually consider to be flops, since it also missed the top 10. For this to have pulled an "Entertainment", it would've had to severely flop on the format, something it hasn't done. And nothing provides more entertainment (pun intended) for people like myself in the thread than reading the constant crying and tempter tantrums from the haters who are whining because this hasn't flopped like they all predicted.

You all are delusional, this song is completely done.
Foster The People is like a new, much less-successful "Fastball" when you really think about it.

that's going too far
have you heard the next single, "best friend"
that can still smash regardless of this song's chart run and sales
they might not get pop hits but why should that stop their success on alt

You are not very sharp with sarcasm, aren't you? If you take the time to read the whole thread you will I see that I actually like this song.

I don't know if I should apologize for liking this song. We're terrible people for liking this song. Apparently, liking "Coming Of Age" is worse than openly declaring your hatred for puppies, kittens, babies, and bacon.

Just saw this performed on the Tonight Show. I thought it was awesome for the first televised performance. He did a great job (in my opinion) with controlling the pitch when he hits those high notes.

Unfortunately FTP fans, this song is done at alternative. Falling like a rock at number 7 now (according to FMQB). Not a bad run though. Hung in there for a few weeks at number 4. Still love the song and feel like it deserves better. We'll see how Best Friend does.

Best Friend was easily the weakest on the album for me, and if this could only muster a few weeks at #4, I doubt Best Friend will do better. Then again, it could pull a Sirens/I Sat By the Ocean/Trying to Be Cool.

Damn, that spin decrease is huuuuuuuge.
9 14 FOSTER THE PEOPLE Coming Of Age 1045 1393 -348 5.467
With that and Young the Giant's -281, maybe the trend of songs sticking on for 52+ weeks is over.
As for this song, it reminds me of Hey You
