The 2013 Year End Chart ends this week on November 24th. As a result I'm going to start posting the final results early. I'm going to post the Top 22 early for now. Songs that are too close to call won't be posted for now. Airplay data is on TheAzianWill.com

The airplay prior to 2013 are aggregated to a SPS calculation then multiplied by the current panel size so there may be discrepencies.

Bruno Mars smokes the competition for the Year End Chart due to his outrageous longevity.

Pretty interesting things to Note. We haven't had a #2 peaking song in the Year End Top 3 since Kelly Clarkson's 2005 hit "Behind These Hazel Eyes."

Ok so the final results are up. Any changes to the direct airplay on the panel may suck Catch My Breath (since they're only 100 spins apart cumulatively) back in since we had multiple changes over the last 3 weeks.

Macklemore takes 2 of the Top 5 positions Year End with Thrift Shop and Can't Hold Us. It looks like Can't Hold Us is going strong into 2014 due to his crazy longevity.

Macklemore, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake and Calvin Harris are this year's most played artists. No song that peaked outside the Top 10 made it to this chart.

Better late than never. I really wanted to have this up, last week, when the chart year closed. But, I was ridiculously busy and needed more time to finish crunching the numbers. Such is life. Anywho...here are my projections for the Mediabase year-end pop rankings.

Mediabase's chart year began with the published chart from Sunday, November 25, 2012 and ended with the Sunday, November 24, 2013 chart (a 53 week year...2014 will be back to the, usual, 52). Unlike Billboard, Mediabase counts ALL spins. The only rule I know of is that a song must have spent at least one week as a "current" during the chart year in order to be eligible for inclusion in the year-end rankings. For completeness, I have shown where the year-long recurrents would have ranked within the top 100 had they been allowed on. I don't have access to everything Mediabase. My tabulations are limited to the top 50 currents and top 50 recurrents that are available on All Access. Nonetheless, it appears to be a fairly good approximation. My artists rankings use a weighted spin distribution similar to the one that I employed for the Billboard tabulation.

My top 50 is, more or less, in line with TheAzianWill's calculated rankings. Please keep an eye on the PDF link posted above as the official rankings should be showing up there in the coming weeks.

Cool!
Some interesting findings to me:
- Blurred Lines didn't manage to reach the top 5 because of timing, but also because at one point it really started to free fall. I thought it could/should be in the top 5
- Just Give Me a Reason, despite being multi-week #1 and a song released earlier in the year, it ended out of the top 10. Bad, radio, bad!
- On the other hand, Daylight ended up inside the top 10. Ew
- Sweet Nothing showed a lot of longevity and managed a great yearend position for its weekly peak position
- The opposite can be said about Come & Get It
- Great resilience of Swedish House Mafia. It proofs that DYWC should have been a #1 song! >:(

Overall a quite diverse Top 10, with EDM, Rap, Folk, AC, R&B, Pop represented. Had Radioactive been inside the top 10 (instead of Daylight for example), this could've been maybe the most varied yearend top 10 in a long time.

Sad to see that, once again, some of the acts in the top 50 may remain One Hit Wonders.
What happened with the follow-ups to Ho Hey, Little Talks, Safe & Sound, I Love It?
All were quite good songs that could've had some degree of success.
I love Stubborn Love, for example. I even like it more than HH, but seems it flopped badly :(( And I know there was no follow-up to Don't You Worry Child due to the disintegration of the band, but still the label could've done something to promote another song from their album (even a re-release).
Anyway. A good year I think!

Hey everyone, maybe somebody can explain this to me. I have always followed All Access www.allaccess.com/ for Mediabase 24/7's chart's. I have had access to their year-end chart for the Pop/Top40 chart for a while. But looking at the year-end chart posted on All Access and this song several song's are way off. All Access has "Can't Hold Us" as the #1 song of the year and this one has "Locked Out of Heaven" at #1. Then some song's that are on this year-end chart did not appear on All Access year-end 50. As an example, on the top 100 chart you have listed above, Rihanna came in at #33 with "Diamonds." All Access did not have that song listed in the top 50 of the year. So what I am asking is what is the difference between this chart and the one All Access has listed? I had always thought All Access was owned by, Mediabase? If someone can explain this I would appreciate it. I have always followed the Top 40 Pop Chart on All Access. thanks' and Have a great Holliday.

AllAccess' year-end charts run from January to December while the ones Mediabase publish themselves run from December to November. That should explain it I think :)

November 16th!?! (for the chart published Sunday November 17th). (checks PDF) Well, that's odd. They ended the chart year a week early. The almost always end it the weekend before Thanksgiving. Granted, the year was still 52 weeks. Does that mean 2014 will be 53 weeks? It would, almost, have to be to balance things out, again. I'm going to need to rejigger the projections, then. Bummer.
