At that point I would genuinely pity him. I don't blame Kim for leaving, but she seems to be the only thing in his life he is sure about. I would hope that would be his kids.

Well true and revolutional artist doesn't give a damn about publishing schedules etc but I thought a true and a revolutional artist would want someone to hear/see his/her work?

Finally got around to listening to this album. It's definitely not his best body of work. There are some enjoyable tracks on here. I really do like the opening & closing tracks. The samples/productions on there really stood out for me.

He updated the album on Tidal with the inclusion of SIA and Vic Mensa back on "Wolves" and seperated Frank's section into it's own type of interlude.

OMG he needs to stop with the updating. It makes the original product seem not good when you're continually trying to change it. Very annoying lol

Well, he did say it was a living, breathing body of work but I will stick with the original version I got. I did download the re-do of Wolves that added Sia and Frank back in but I don't even know if I care to go listen to these latest versions on Tidal LOL. I did with Famous out of curiosity. Negligible differences.

Albums should be complete before they're released. Don't release your shit half assed and then tell us it's a "process".

Yeah, that's a good point, LOL. But, ddlz comment reminds me of what LA Reid said when he came to Harlem during his book tour. Not sure if I brought it up here or in another thread but he alluded to the fact that the state of the album is different these days and now artists are frustrating fans by either putting out single for a year with no album or putting out something that is admittedly not the final product and the consumer has to have all of these different versions. Of course, someone in the audience yelled Kanye's name, at which point LA backpedaled and said how much of a genius Kanye is and he can basically do whatever he wants because he has more #1 albums than even Michael Jackson or some shit like that.

I wouldn't like this editing-as-we-go process for MBDTF or any of his previous albums but I find it intriguing here. The "finished product" of February 11 seemed unfinished as it was and was disappointing to me. So I'm enjoying him doing whatever he wants to keep changing it. I like it as an experiment, I just hope he doesn't treat future albums as such.

Once you put up a work for display, it needs to be finished, flaws and all. Post-editing is a load of shit.

I remember the single version of Runaway was different from the album version, and we also got different versions of All of the Lights or Lost in the World before the actual album release. The major difference is that there were no more changes after the album's release, but maybe only because it was not an option back than.

So it's probably safe to say that general public will never hear this album?

"Famous" is now on Spotify and Apple Music as a stand-alone single. Idk.

So it's probably safe to say that general public will never hear this album? No. There are things like torrents, blogs, and other sites that any album can be downloaded from. I wasn't about to open the battery draining Tidal app every time I want to hear this album on the go, LOL.

So it's probably safe to say that general public will never hear this album? What do you mean general public? This album has set records for illegal downloads, people who want to hear it probably have.

So the "general public" are those that download the album on blogs, torrents and other sites and download the album without paying for it?
People who frequent mainstream streaming sites and download from iTunes are not, I suppose.
The latter will put this on the Billboard charts, the former will not

So. If an illegal download has put it in the hands of millions its still in the hands of millions. The Billboard charts isn't the only measure of somethings success and reach. As if you listen to Kanye anyway

I'm not sure what your point is. I didn't say people who use streaming sites are not part of the general public, and I don't think subscribing to Spotify and downloading something from a blog are mutually exclusive, I know some people who have Tidal and still went on to download the album. Most people who wanted to hear the album have done it by now, whether Billboard reflects that or not.

Just wondering about the phrase “general public” and what it means, I always thought the “general public” are those that frequent general sites or general stores. Like walking into Walmart and picking up the latest Kanye album or going popular online stores like itunes or the big streaming sites such as Spotify or Apple Music. I think this release is geared towards the hardcore Kanye fans and not the “general public” because it is not being made generally available. Obviously the hardcore Kanye fans know where to find it

Obviously the hardcore Kanye fans know where to find it Wasn't the whole music industry changed because the "general public" started getting music for free instead of buying albums? Don't streaming services such as Spotify or Youtube exist exactly because a large portion of the "general public" decided to no longer pay for music? The notion of "general public" as people who'll buy an album at Walmart seems quite old-fashioned nowadays. I'd bet that even for someone like Adele there are far more people listening to her songs for free than actually buying the album. Kanye's album was downloaded over a millon times on its first week. I don't think those were all hardcore fans. Of course there won't be as many people exposed to it as if it were playing on the radio, being featured on a car add or something of the sort, but there's still a lot of people going after it.

To me, "general public" means everybody, all people. I agree, streaming is the big thing now, I included that in my last post as well when I referenced Spotify and Apple.
The fact is, the big stores (Walmart, Target), the big online stores (Amazon, iTunes) and the big streaming sites (such as Apple and Spotify) do not have this release. Pay/no pay then becomes irrelevant. However, that is not what I was talking about.
Just an opinion but "general public" means more than just Tidal subscribers and people who visit blog and torrent sites. To me that seems like a very specific set of people as opposed to the "general public". I get that "everyone" people here knows downloads off of blog and torrent sites but again a very select group of people rather than "general public" I think.
Of course you are free to disagree.

There's no such thing as a "general public" anymore. Fact.
It's used here generally to refer to average pop music fans. And even that that's really vague.

I understand "average pop music fan" = "general public" in the context of how it is used on this site. I also believe no one really has a good handle on what makes up the "average pop music fan". What is considered average and normal to one person may not be that way to another.
To me though that term does not apply to Kanye's album. Kanye is not reaching out to the "general public" with this release.

Scooter could be a big movie for him.
It's also being reported that The Life Of deleted, new and improved, will be available tomorrow on Spotify, Apple, etc etc.
