LOL - why are you surprised? All of Garth's albums have been 'Limited Editions'. Some have even crossed 10 million before the supply cut off

^Because Billboard said only 500,000 were ordered. That's what I was going by.

So based on these:
Beyoncé needs 103-123k next week to reach platinum before the year ends. PRISM needs 126-136k to do so. Wrapped in Red would need 273-283k.

Surprised at Katy's numbers. Her album shouldn't have much issue passing 1 million. I think it could do 1.5 million+ at the end of the campaign, which is great!
Also, really happy with Beyoncé & Kelly's numbers. :)

I'm guessing 875,000 for Kelly through January 5th now.

My friend is a manager at a local Meijer and said all locations will have the CD in by Noon tomorrow. As soon as it arrives, it will be on the shelves. Some are getting it right now, some got it a couple hours ago, and others will arrive through the night and into tomorrow. :)

Yay, hope Kelly keeps that lead! A bit bummed that she's the only holiday album not projected to increase this week, but then she was the only one to have an increase last week so I guess it balances out. 1D and Katy also holding very well. Okay...a totally misleading and contradictory article lol. The headline states that due to the controversy it will help the album YET in the actual article says the sales bump isn't unusual as *most* albums should expect a sales bump. Who the F hires some of these people? :# lol. lol, yeah, that was poorly written. I wonder if they actually weren't going to see much of a bump before this and that's why the controversy "helps" them.

Lockheart, arr you getting a jump on the ol' eggnog? There was no way Wal-Mart was going to limit Brooks; set to 500K after seeing those initial sales.

What's amusing is some people who decided they need to protest against A&E suspending Phil Robertson are suggesting buying up all these Duck Dynasty merchandise. I guess they don't realize the license owner of all that merchandise is A&E therefore they're just making A&E rake in the cash. I think despite all the hoopla and the support Duck Dynasty is getting from Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and the lot, ultimately the show is now tarnished. I think it'll have a hard time recovering. Is this how it works, though? I don't like Phil's comments either, but I wasn't under the impression that A&E was making anything from the album sales. Billboard's Country Update lists the label for the album as "4 Beards/EMI Nashville", with EMI being an imprint under UMG Nashville. I am assuming that "4 Beards" is not A&E but rather the Robertsons themselves (sort of like their own label, even though they are TV stars and not musicians). I am just merely wondering...I was always under the impression that the labels made most of the money from album sales, but then again, this is different...does A&E profit as well, somehow, from album sales? www1.billboard.biz/bbbiz/photos/pdf/2013/BCU_mw_1212.pdf(page 8 lists the album sales and label info)

Sadly, the DD Xmas CD will sell, but only because of extra publicity. I considered it a joke of a release - a novelty item. I do find it interesting to read all the hate directed at this guy. If only people had as much contempt for homophobic rappers, black churches, the Catholic church, Alec Baldwin, etc. as they do for a white Christian reality "star." Funny how they all have the same message of hate and intolerance, but people have been brainwashed into believing that one is so much worse than the other. They don't call this the low information generation for nothing. All the publicity is doing is helping draw more attention to everything DD (the CD, the show, etc.) Interestingly. A&E is continuing to show its marathons and the new season starts in four weeks (those episodes are in the can so "banned" Phil will be in there.)

A&E is continuing to show its marathons and the new season starts in four weeks (those episodes are in the can so "banned" Phil will be in there.) This guy directed HaTE to other people. He compared Gay people to terrorists and said gay sex led to beastiality. But in your rose colored world this man is some poor misunderstood, picked on martyr. No one on this board ever said anything against them when they were just selling their music so no one is picking on the 'white Christian' reality star. No one cared this show was on the air. This man went out of of his way to offer opinions and to single out a group of people that he hates. Because None of what he says sound like love. And when you push out hate then don't expect love in return. PLEASE STOP ACTING LIKE HE'S A VICTIM after saying ugly things about people and then hiding behind his bible. That's no excuse. The Christian thing to do is to look at yourself and your sins and concentrate on living your good life. And today I still don't care if the show is on the air or not but A&E is well within their rights to decide who they want representing their network. They probably have employees that are both black and gay to think about and he made hostile comments about both groups that made it an uncomfortable work environment for them. I

The music deal could have been made outside of the show which is why it's called A Robertson Family Christmas instead of using the name Duck Dynasty which is probably owned by A&E.

Funny how they all have the same message of hate and intolerance, but people have been brainwashed into believing that one is so much worse than the other. I've seen this argument some times before and I always wonder what purpose it serves, exactly...I would like to think your point is simply that there are other 'hateful' groups that we should be critical of as well but when it's worded like this it almost comes off as if you're just trying to denigrate the other groups while subtly taking up for poor Phil. In the end it doesn't accomplish what you were aiming for and distracts from the message even more b/c someone goes off on you the way mluv did. Nothing against you personally, just a thought that I've had for a while and it related to your post. fwiw probably the reason churches don't get called out on it much is because it's already a given that most religious folk feel that way. Few are going to waste time attacking preachers for the thoughts they express within their church walls, but if they were to do an interview with GQ saying the same stuff best believe it would become an issue. Believe what you want in the comfort of your own home, but if you're trying to put/keep your beliefs in written law, then you will see the outrage and the pushback. Rap is none to welcoming but is more of the really basic "no homo" variety, they're not running around comparing gay sex to bestiality or saying that the downfall of every civilization in history began with the start of homosexuality. When it comes to the reaction that people have, it's a matter of degree of hatred + the platform used to express that hatred.

Kelly and Katy still going strong!!!
well, as laughable as DD guy's remarks are, simply banning him won't change the minds of millions of people who think exactly like him. they should put him and real gays on the show and have a deeper, person to person meaningful conversation. Ignorance is the source of most fear and hatred.

As grossed out as I am by the ignorance on display in Phil Robertson's comments, I think there's something up with Billboard's calculations here. Here are the weekly sales tallies for Duck the Halls: Week ending 3 November 2013: 69K ( Billboard link) Week ending 10 November 2013: 73K ( Billboard link) Week ending 17 November 2013: 66K ( Billboard link) Week ending 24 November 2013: 60K ( Billboard link) Week ending 1 December 2013: 137K ( Billboard link) Week ending 8 December 2013: 105K ( Billboard link) Week ending 15 December 2013: 108K ( Billboard link) Sum the weekly sales and we get a total of 618K, which is 49K higher than the total most recently reported by Keith Caulfield. As much as I would love to believe that the 569K total reflects returns from 49K people who suddenly realized they had bought an album from the Duck Dynasty people, Soundscan tallies wouldn't reflect those returns. A more likely explanation is that we're dealing with that old issue of sales at Christian retailers being reported in the weekly tallies but not being reflected in the cumulative tallies. With this in mind, Duck the Halls appears to have a lead of 40K for 2013's best-selling holiday album (the 578K cumulative sales for Wrapped in Red do add up based on the weekly sales reported in the Billboard articles linked above) as of 15 December 2013, and Wrapped in Red has two weeks to close that gap. Here's hoping that it does.

If that's the case, then I guess SoundScan never got around to including those sales at Christina outlets in the RTD tallies.

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/retail/5847794/amazon-not-stocking-new-beyonce-cd-following-itunes-exclusive?utm_source=twitterAmazon Not Stocking New Beyonce CD Following iTunes Exclusive By Ed Christman, New York | December 20, 2013 Screenshot of the Amazon music store which currently only sells the new Beyonce CD through third-party sellers. Add Amazon to the short list of retailers protesting Beyonce's iTunes exclusive. While Amazon.com is carrying the MP3 version of the album, the online merchant is apparently not stocking the CD version of the album, according to label sources and a check of the site. The album is available, however, via third-party sellers in the Amazon marketplace. Earlier this week, Target said it would not carry the new Beyonce album, which iTunes got a one week exclusive window to sell the 14-song, 17-video album and did so to the tune of more than 600,000 units in the U.S. for the first three-days of availability. Moreover, while Amazon is carrying the Beyonce MP3 in its store, it does not appear to be supporting the album with any prime real estate. The only way the album is visible if shoppers search for it and will see that the album is there digitally for $15.99. While most merchants have chosen to carry the Beyonce album, which streeted today after iTunes’ week-long exclusive window, they aren't happy about the preferential treatment given to Apple. Sources say Sony and Columbia still managed to ship over 500,000 units of the CD by today’s street date.Meanwhile, in addition to being annoyed at the Beyonce exclusive, Amazon is reportedly still steaming that Sony Music Entertainment handed down an edict that Amazon, or any other retailer for that matter, couldn't pre-sell the Beyonce title. Pre-sales of new titles has proven to be an effective marketing tool and the Sony edict was interpreted as further protecting the iTunes exclusive window. According to sources, Amazon may be considering further reprisals against Sony Music Entertainment and Columbia down the line, although conversations are said to be still ongoing between the label and the merchant. Historically, Sony Music Entertainment has been the biggest player in handing out exclusive windows to merchant and is a master at contending with the ill-feelings such a strategy generates from other retailers. Usually, Sony finds a way to placate the other merchants by offering economic inducements in an attempt to offset whatever harm may have come from those merchants losing out on the exclusive title. Columbia and Amazon did not respond to a request for comment at press time.
