Why the he!! do you have to bring that up??? And who said that IF payola was used that it would be used for only getting a song to #1?? couldnt the bigwigs at WB have used it to buy plays to ALMOST make poor faithy waithy the highest debuting single by a female? Or what about at Sony for Gretchens single to take that slice of cake? If you are gonna talk about payola, use common sense. Calm down! Talk about overreacting. Just cause you love Sugarland doesn't mean everyone does. BTW I do like them. I AM calm thank you....you just read into EVERYTHING way too much....talk about overreacting? Eat your words. I just get sick of this stupid payola crap. Every other thread it seems like mentions it. If ya wanna discuss it that badly, make a seperate thread for it.

Those were the positions for the BB chart that was posted yesterday (the same as TCorey's post on Monday). If I'm reading the airplay chart on the BB Monitor site correctly this morning, the top 3 currently are: #1. Mississippi Girl #2. Play Something Country #3. As Good As I Once Was

Considering how soft the top 3 singles on the charts are right now (collectively lost almost 800 spins in the newest issue of R&R), Ms. Hill could be #1 for two or three weeks, until somebody catches her.
Sugarland is going recurrent tomorrow, and Toby will do likewise next week.

i think b&d is the favorite for #1 next week...only 150 spins behind faith.

Faith is going to get her second week that I'm sure of. Brooks and Dunn will have to wait for another week. Then they have to maintain these numbers. Their numbers increased more this week because of the album coming out Tuesday, with the way the charts have been going who knows what will happen.
I still don't count Tim out from rebounding either.

The most bizarre item of this three-way free-for-all is that 'Something More' WILL finish higher on the year-end charts than TK's song, despite his multi-week spree at #1; the margin is just under 4,000 spins so far.
What was that old tale about the tortoise and the hare?

Brooks & Dunn will obviously be the next ones to take over the # 1 spot.
I think they will get at least a couple of weeks at # 1.
That is, of course, if their airplay doesn't nosedive after the release of their album.
No one is really that close to them that can be seen as any 'threat' yet.
After B&D are done, I think Sara has a real shot at # 1. I don't know how much longer she can hang on though. I have a feeling Gretchen might pick up again soon.
So, if Sara gets to # 1, I only see her lasting for 1 week or maybe 2.
Gretchen is still a little far away from Sara, but I think Gretchen could really speed up soon, especially around the time that her cd comes out.

Looks as if Van Zant could make some major waves in the top five and maybe top 3. Could it be number 1? I wouldn't think so, but stranger things have happened. I wonder why Alcohol just stopped dead in it's tracks. I am sure that this is not what Brad or the label wanted to see. he will recover with what I feel will be the next single "Waitin' On A Woman".

Faith will have another week at #1, Brooks and Dunn have to hold on and not falter after their album is released tomorrow.
Sugarland and Toby have dropped off the R&R chart and went recurrent, that allows Brad, Sara and Tim move up one.
I really think Van Zant might be the one to move up, I hope love their song.

What was that old tale about the tortoise and the hare? Sugarland's song has been charting for 5 more weeks than Toby's -- almost a third more time to gain spins. I disagree with you; I think Toby's song will finish higher on all the year-end charts: R&R, Billboard, and ACC. R&R will be the closest call of the three.

What are the thoughts on 'Something to be Proud of"? I hear positive comments on radio. Any chance this will be MG's second #1?

Van Zant took a huge nosedive today. Lost about 300 spins, so it looks like it might be done. Good to see Brad moving up to 3 on Mediabase with a - bullet. Sara looks like a lock to be number one after B&D/

I remember Homewrecker being #1 in Spins, but #2 in Audience for a week on the Billboard Country Chart in mid-late May. I believe it was the week Making Memories of Us went #1. Other than that and now both Sugarland songs, I dont think its happened again since Didn't take long for it to happen again as Faith Hill ends up #1 on BB this week, beating out Brooks & Dunn by 195,000 audience impressions (32.59 to 32.395). On the spin side, B&D would have beaten out Faith Hill by 318 spins (4480 to 4162).

Thanks notherncountry. Interesting that the audience lead for Faith was that thin, despite B&D having a substantial lead in spins. Maybe B&D is getting more of their spins on a percentage basis in the overnights?

I would think Brooks & Dunn would get #1 next week, and then be followed in the next week by Sara Evans. She might be able to have 2-4 weeks at the top (although Brad might rebound and get a week in there as well), and then the next likely candidate would be Montgomery Gentry. A lot depends on how Gretchen Wilson rebounds with her song. After a very fast start, she's been moving slowly the past few weeks - but that doesn't mean she can't pick it up again very quickly. I would think Keith Urban would be next in line after MG or Gretchen - but I don't think he'll get there before MG gets their opportunity.

Brooks and Dunn will be #1 next week, thanks to Faith's new single and the concurrent plunge in spins for 'Mississippi Girl'.
Keith Urban has the hottest single on the charts, and should breeze into the #1 slot pretty soon, especially given the slowdown in Ms. Wilson's aggravating single.

I see that mediabase put Toby's song back into the currents. Any particular reason?
BTW, I will post this question in the Toby thread.

Gretchen Wilson is not going to #1, since Keith Urban's tune is the hottest single on the chart, and will unquestionably blow right by her by the end of this month, and hit #1 sometime in October.
