CMT will televise the announcement of the final nominees for the 2005 CMA Awards live on Wednesday (Sept. 7) at 10:15 a.m. ET during a special edition of CMT Insider. Keith Urban and Lee Ann Womack will reveal the final nominees in all 12 categories during a press conference at Time Warner Center in New York City. CMT's Lance Smith will cover the event live from New York City while CMT's Katie Cook will be joined in Nashville by one of country's hottest new bands, Sugarland. The announcement will air exclusively on CMT. The 39th annual CMA Awards will be broadcast live from New York City's Madison Square Garden on Nov. 15 on CBS.
------------------------------------
Predictions can start now and someone can post the nominations -- I will be at school. :)

I would like to see these people for sure make the following category:
Sara Evans (Female) JoDee Messina (Female) Keith Urban (Male) LeAnn Rimes (Video, "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way")
The first three predictions seem quite likely, the fourth seems unlikely, but she definitely deserves a nomination at the least.

I could see 2 of them being likely, but not the other 2, although one I would LOVE to see.

This is LeAnn Rimes' year...if she doesn't get some nominations I will be very upset! At least a Video nomination for PWBTW. NBLMS went Top 5...her album debuted at #2 and has sold near 500,000. Not to mention her being on the road on tour AND hosting Nashville Star! Come on CMA...nominate LeAnn Rimes!!

As much as I like LeAnn, I can't see her getting any nods.

As much as I like LeAnn, I can't see her getting any nods. I have to agree with Steelo, I love LeAnn, and she has had no less success than most females in the past 12 months, but she will likely be ignored. Video is the best bet (also an award I don't recall her ever being nominated for), PWBTW may not be the BEST video this year, but I easily rank it in the Top 5.

The country industry award shows are so predictable that it's pathetic.
Let's see how far off I am on my predictions.
Here are my predictions for some of the categories:
Entertainer of the Year Toby Keith Tim McGraw Kenny Chesney Brooks & Dunn Alan Jackson or Keith Urban
Female Vocalist of the Year Martina McBride Gretchen Wilson Faith Hill Lee Ann Womack - (she's announcing the nominations) Sara Evans Terri Clark or Alison Krauss - if there's a 6th nominee
Male Vocalist of the Year Toby Keith Tim McGraw Kenny Chesney Keith Urban Alan Jackson Brad Paisley or George Strait - I think there were 6 nominees last year
Group of the Year Lonestar Rascal Flatts Trick Pony Sugarland ???
Duo of the Year Brooks & Dunn Montgomery Gentry Big & Rich Van Zant ???
Horizon Award Miranda Lambert Sugarland Van Zant Erika Jo - from "Nashville Star" ???
Video of the Year Gretchen Wilson - "When I Think About Cheating" Faith Hill - "Mississippi Girl" Toby Keith - "As Good As I Once Was" - I would vote for this one LeAnn Rimes - "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" Brad Paisley - "Alcohol" ???
Vocal Event/Collaboration of the Year Faith and Tim - "Like We Never Loved At All" Shania Twain and Billy Currington - "Party For Two" - they might give her this one nomination to get her to show up & perform. ??? - I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting...
Song/Single of the Year Keith Urban - "Memories of Us" Faith Hill - "Mississippi Girl" Toby Keith - "As Good As I Once Was" Rascal Flatts - one of their songs; "God Bless the Broken Road", if it's eligible Gretchen Wilson - "When I Think About Cheating" Sugarland - "Baby Girl" and/or "Something More" Lee Ann Womack - "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" - if it's eligible Brad Paisley - "Alcohol" Van Zant - "Help Somebody" ???
Note: I combined the Song and Single of the Year categories. The people and songs I listed might be split up into those two categories.

i would say possibly SheDaisy will get that 5th Group of the Year nomination. Are Duo and Group Still Seperate? I thought they combined.

I don't think you'll see Van Zant nominated for the Horizon Award. those guys have to be both around 50

no one ever really considered Dierks Bentley for Horizon Award, now I have to think it is a race between Dierks, Sugarland, Big & Rich.

"Alcohol" and "As Good As I Once Was" and "Redneck Woman" for song of the year?? So they're saying that these three are worthy to be included in the five best country songs all year? You've got to be kidding me. I can see these as maybe single of the year...as they're all cute little songs that people like to drive down the road listening to, but come on...BEST song written all year?

Those are the real nominations? Wow! I was almost right on for most categories! Entertainer, Male, Female, etc. Just goes to show just how predictable they are. The only things I really messed up on were the Horizon category and Faith Hill being left off of the list. (Thank God!) I would have never seen that coming! Not in a million years.

Tidbits of info. on the nominations 1. Lee Ann Womack looks to be the leading Female nominee. 2. Lee Ann has 7 nominations, including 2 in the Music Event of the Year category. 3. Faith Hill was left off of the list. Shocking! 4. The CMA gave Shania that 1 Music Event nomination to get her to the show. Just like I said they would. 5. This is Shania's first CMA nomination, in any category, since 1999. She has been at every CMA show though, except 2001 I believe. 6. The Entertainer of the Year list has been the same since about 2001. This year, Brooks & Dunn and Alan Jackson were replaced by Keith Urban and Brad Paisley. 7. No Female act has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year since 2001. The Dixie Chicks were nominated then. Information Source

The media is already making this seem like LeeAnn Womacks year, and she is good, but I could see her have what Faith Hill had in 2000. Six Nominations and no wins. Because when I look at the categories she is in, I don't see any where she is realistically the best canidate.

Because when I look at the categories she is in, I don't see any where she is realistically the best canidate. That could happen. One thing though, I think you're referring to 1999 when Faith went home with "no wins." That was the year that Faith had a ton of nominations and, pretty much, went home empty handed. "This Kiss" did get Song of the Year in 1999, but that award went to the song's writers. So, I guess you could say that she didn't win anything. In 2000, Faith also had a lot of nominations, but she "only" got the Female Vocalist award. Source

That is so lame that LeAnn RIMES wasn't nominated! And what is up with all of this LeeAnn Womack?? Looks like somebody got paid off to nominate her.....I hate the CMAs, the same people every year win the same awards. LEANN had a great year, excellent album, two hit songs, two #1 VIDEOS (both of which are better than most on that list- especially her new one). You can really tell that this show is rigged. I mean look at all of Brad Paisley's nominations...I don't even think his video was out in June ( I believe the time frame for this year's awards are July 2004 - June 2005) and even if his song was (Alcohol), it wouldn't have been that far up the charts. This is bull! By the way, CMA, did you even listen to "This Woman" by LeAnn Rimes? I guess not, you were probably too busy being paid off for nominations!

Can someone explain to me how the same song can be nominated for the same award two years in a row:
2004 SONG OF THE YEAR (Award goes to songwriter and primary publisher) “Live Like You Were Dying” Tim Nichols/Craig Wiseman Warner-Tamerlane/Big Loud Shirt
“Long Black Train” Josh Turner Sony/ATV Tunes/Drivers Ed Music
“Redneck Woman” Gretchen Wilson/John Rich Sony/ATV/Cross Keys/Hoosiermama Music/WB Music/Warner-Tamerlane
“Remember When” Alan Jackson EMI April Music/Tri-Angels Music
“Whiskey Lullaby” Bill Anderson/Jon Randall Mr. Bubba Music/Reynsong/Sony/ATV Tree/Wha Ya Say
2005
SONG OF THE YEAR (Award goes to songwriter and primary publisher)
“Alcohol” Brad Paisley EMI April / Sea Gayle Music
“As Good As I Once Was” Toby Keith/Scotty Emerick Tokeco Tunes/Sony/ATV Songs/Big Yellow Dog Music/Florida Cracker Music
“Bless The Broken Road” Marcus Hummon/Bobby Boyd/Jeff Hanna Careers-BMG Music/Floyd’s Dream Music/Jeff Diggs Music
“I May Hate Myself In The Morning” Odie Blackmon Cal IV Songs
“Redneck Woman” Gretchen Wilson/John Rich Sony/ATV Cross Keys/Hoosiermama Music/WB Music Corp
“Whiskey Lullaby” Bill Anderson/Jon Randall Sony/ATV/Mr. Bubba Music/Reynsong/Wha Ya Say Music
Does it have to do with the dates in which these songs were released or topped the charts or something??
Other than that... no big surprises to me... the CMA's have their favorites every year and that's who will win. It's not necessarily based on how good an artist did for a particular year.

The CMA's = The Clique Music Awards. If you're not in the Nashville Clique, forget about it.

While I am a big fan of AK+US, I don't think I've ever seen them shown as "Alison Krauss + Union Station Featuring Jerry Douglas". Did they do this so they could also include Alison as a female vocalist nominee?
And I also am a fan of Diamond Rio, but that's a stretch giving them a nomination. I guess it must have a close contest between them and the Statler Brothers.

Nashville actually nominated Shania? :o
...well I guess that is all good, even though her nomination seems to be in the reject catagory. Although Shania's statements regarding the CMA's now shine even clearer. When it comes to the CMA awards, there is no logic as to why and when you get them. They have no problem nominating Shania this year, for a song that is almost a year old, but where the hell was Shania's nomination for Entertainer last year when she had the most successful tour? ...they obviously only nominated her this year to give her a reason to attend so that their "move to NYC" doesn't flop in the ratings.

A long, angry letter is in store for them from me.

The fact that Diamond Rio and Alison krauss/Union Station got the nods over SHeDAISY in GROUP OF THE YEAR really sickens me, especially Diamond Rio.
I like both bands, but their years did not compare to SHeDAISY's comeback in 2004/2005. 3 top 15 singles, including one that almost made the Top 5, an album about to be certified gold, 3 amazing videos and yet NO respect whatsoever. Makes me sick.
All I say for this year's show is GO SARA EVANS! Other than her, I don't know if I can bare to watch the same crap as last year.
The CMA does allow an artist to be nominated up to two times for the Horizon Award. A good example I can think of is Travis Tritt. He was nominated in 1990 and lost to Garth, but then won 1991's Horizon Award. I have a lot of respect for Horizon winners, but it's definitely not a prerequisite for a successful career. George Strait, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, and Brooks & Dunn never won the Horizon award but have proven to be some of the biggest artists in all of country music.

I will never forgive the CMA Awards for not nominating LeAnn Rimes. I am discusted by Lee Ann Womack. I, personally believe she is vocally talentless. I mean, a couple years ago she sounded okay to me when she sang live, but now'a'days her voice sounds weak and unable to bring justice to any of her songs. Another thing I don't understand is how Brad Paisley's "Alcohal" is nominated for Music Video of the Year, when it's been out for only like 2 months, and it's not even a good video. The nominations suck!
