Did "The Leap" not make the final cut for the Mockingjay soundtrack, or is it a physical deluxe-only track somewhere? I was going to listen to it on Spotify but it's not there. If it got cut I'm annoyed because it's leaps and bounds ahead of everything that did make it. It made it. But they're being weirdo with many of tracks; even on iTunes it's available as "Album Only."

Interesting. I don't expect it to be a single, so I'm not sure why they would do that. Hmm...

She's been saying in interviews that she's starting her new album in January. She's one of those people where I think a quick follow-up EP or maybe like a re-release compilation of old and new songs would work well for. For example, they could heavily push something like "All Hands on Deck" next year, and included it on some type of re-release. I really think they should market her as a pop singer; she does not strike me as an urban star.

Pretty smart since RCA's not gonna get much more mileage out of Aquarius although I think a third radio single couldn't hurt.

Confirmed by Iggy Azalea herself that she'll be joining her and Nick Jonas on tour in 2015.

It looks like she's getting ready to start work on album #2, she had a meeting about it with RCA today. I hope they don't change up her sound too much and focus more on creating stronger visibility for her.

Ahhh I'm excited! She already has such a strong and cohesive musical identity, I agree that I hope they don't change up things too much. Something that veers more into pop-friendly territory would be nice because I'd love to see her get more exposure; but not so pop that it feels like they're just pandering for sales from wherever they can find them. I will say that sometimes her visual doesn't match what she's singing - it feels like they are always trying to go for sexpot with her, which works for songs like "2 On" but feels a bit off when she's singing a remix of "Pretend." They just need a more nuanced approach there. Well maybe not even need. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only one who has a mild issue with that.
I still think not grabbing some of the songs from her three mixtapes into a collection and promoting that a bit before starting off with her 'official' first album was a lost opportunity.

Yeah, it's a shame because even though Tinashe is a blog-favorite and people on the Internet recognize her artistry, I think the GP looks at her as a run of the mill, disposable mainstream R&B star because of 2 On. Like that's where Jhene's team really did their job because she really cultivated an image as an "artist" with her EP and eventual album. That's what Tinashe needed imo to get major exposure as someone more than her biggest hit.

Listened to the album tonight and the only song that clicked with me asides from 2 On was All Hands On Deck. She's a great dancer so maybe she should be focused on that kind of sound but I understand that she might not want to since that would mean her artistic integrity would take a hit. Also, the album sounds nothing like Souled Out so I don't think the constant comparisons are needed. Maybe her mixtapes are more similar to Jhene's music? I don't know, I'll take a listen some other time to have a better picture of that.

When It comes to "Tinashe" I guess I would consider myself the General Public. I'm going to have to give her latest cd another shot because like another poster said. I did just lump her in with most other soft voiced RnB singers with boring mid to slow tempo songs.

Yes. Stood a few heads to left of that weird old white man with the holes in his shirt. You could have at least said hi to me PULSE MEET UP!! :kii: I REALLY like this girl and I'm glad to hear that she is a good live performer. I'm tempted to get tix for Iggy just to see her, to be honest.

The fact that a half-VEVOcertified video gives you a plaque nowadays At least 2 On was a solid hit.

I'm praying for her as we speak because right now she is just on the cusp of saying something that will get her dragged but she hasn't gotten there yet.
She favorited a bunch of Azealia's tweets regarding how Black culture/contributions have historically been minimized, erased or exploited by white media. Then some fans called her out on it since she is about to go on tour with Iggy and she essentially said that she agrees with the points that she favorited but that she doesn't personally condemn Iggy as a person or artist for being part of the system. She went as far to say that Iggy shouldn't be a "victim of prejudice." People then were like "You're playing both sides of the fence!" and she said something to the extent of "I am on both sides of the fence as a half-black, half-white woman." So right now I think she's said enough to show that she understands what's going on in some level but has stopped short of saying some really stupid s**t like Jhene did regarding Ferguson and making herself look like an ass. If she stops now, she should be able to keep her edges in tact.
Personally, I think it's kind of...dumb isn't the right word but misguided, to attack/criticize/tear down artists (especially up and coming artists like Tinashe) for who they work with. Get in where you fit in is the motto and if biting the bullet and co-signing Iggy's bulls**t for a tour is what it takes to get her noticed, then I can't really be mad at Tinashe's hustle.
Edit: Looks like she deleted the tweets, good on her. Hopefully she won't get wrapped up in this mess in the future.

Yeah, when I went to look at her page I saw nothing, so I figured she must have deleted whatever was problematic. I had a feeling it probably came down to the fact that Tinashe is opening for Iggy soon. She is in a very tough spot in that anyone who knows all her stuff knows her mindset would be pretty much in line with what Azealia said, and if she was fine being indie or just a critics' darling then she could make all the stands she wants. But she clearly wants to be a major-label star so there is not much she can do. Just like most other new artists, she doesn't have a lot of control and maybe didn't even have much say in who she gets to open for. And it's an unfortunate crock of bullshit that Tinashe will catch rocks for trying to balance her hustle with her personal beliefs when pretty much any major label artist is doing the same thing. People are conveniently selective about who they'll tear down and who they'll let slide.
I can see where Tinashe was trying to come from in pointing out that just because an individual may benefit from a historically oppressive system doesn't mean that individual is oppressive or racist herself. She got stuck because that kind of defense only works for white people who uh, don't say brazenly oppressive and racist shit. It also doesn't help that Tinashe was probably getting dragged by a bunch of LSA mouth breathers who don't think exxoticals are "real" minorities or deal with their own set of unique problems (which includes attitudes like theirs)...you know the type. Those heiffas didn't even buy her album anyway, so the sooner T learns not to indulge that crowd in any straw-man arguments, the better.

Her choice of words...mainly using prejudice instead of racist I think helped her point. ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/93054169.htmlWhat did Jhrne Aiko say about Ferguson?

Oh, Tinashe's tweets weren't so bad imo. I hate when people delete stuff though, just makes you look like you're backtracking. I can't find all of Jhene's tweets right now but she basically said something about needing to be peaceful, which set black twitter off (they did the same to Keke Palmer too). Jhene didn't really eff herself up though until she quoted Ghandi and someone said "Ghandi was racist and hated black people. You sure you want to quote him?" Jhene retorted something like, "oh, you knew him personally!" and the person responded, "there is literally documentation of this." #oop

FINALLY, I've been able to listen to the album completely from start to finish and I am very pleased with the result. She put out a great product. This combined with her performacnes, she's about to make me her fan. She reminds me a lot of one of my main chicks, Janet Jackson.
My favorite tracks: 2ON COLD SWEAT WILDFIRE ALL HANDS ON DECK PRETEND THUG CRY and of course HOW MANY TIMES.
I would love a collaboration between her and Janet. It's obvious she's very heavily influenced/inspired by her.

Does anyone know if that contains an interpolation of YOU by Janet?
From 3:45 of BET it sounds exactly like "There's a feeling inside no you cannot change it right away gotta make a try and with time it'll start to go away"
