She's releasing a mixtape, Amethyst, in 5 days. Only 7 tracks though.

Excellent mixtape. She basically make the music our young 90's female R&B favorites would be making if they were first coming up today.

She was probably already contracted to open for Nicki and that's the reason she had to pull out of Iggy's tour....but i'm still lmao.

Amythyst mixtape perfectly illustrates why I will always be more excited about her unofficial releases that any LP she may ever release in the future. It's 120% of Tinashe. I feel like she has an unlimited potential right now. So in love with this mixtape, obsessed with Wanderer, Looking 4 it & Wrong. <333 https://instagram.com/p/0Tmy-EiRVw

How was this a bedroom project if she worked with so many established producers though?
Anyway, after multiple listens my two favorites on the mixtape are "Something To Feel" and "Wanderer." All seven tracks shine but those two in particular are damn near perfect.

Is she gonna let Nicki jump on a remix of one of her songs or do you think Tinashe will jump on a remix of one of Nicki's song now!?

How was this a bedroom project if she worked with so many established producers though? ...you know how. (sorry, you totally set her up with that question.) For real though, I could see her writing all the songs and basic composition in her bedroom, then doing the final production elsewhere. So for her this is a bedroom project at its core, even if the end result wasn't reached there.

Looking 4 It sure makes me think of the bedroom. HOT mixtape. I really like this girl. She is like a more palatable, radio-friendly version of fka twigs. Also, I totally agree about Wanderer. Stunning.

She is like a more palatable, radio-friendly version of fka twigs. I somehow fail to see any similarity to FKA Twigs. There's not really anything "alternative" about Tinashe. It's sad that the state of R&B music is so one-dimensional these days that anyone who isn't riding a DJ Mustard beat (which Tinashe did btw!) is considered left-of-mainstream.

It's sad that the state of R&B music is so one-dimensional these days that anyone who isn't riding a DJ Mustard beat (which Tinashe did btw!) is considered left-of-mainstream. I guess, for me, the ethereal, airy nature of their vocals (twigs even more so) and dreamy production (for the most part) is what led me to make the comparison. I agree with you with the state of R&B, which is partly why I despise the term PBR&B. It's all just R&B to me, with some more mainstream than others. Tinashe is as alternative as Jhene Aiko, which is to say not really alternative at all, yet they are lazily dropped into that category. It's not like Aaliyah was considered alternative then but I guess she would be now?

LOL not saying I would consider her alternative, but, based on these subdivisions of R&B (designed, seemingly, to truly divide), I feel like she would be lumped into that dreaded PBR&B category with twigs, Tinashe, and the like. For the record, I play a lot of SongPop and that is a legit category. They even put Jessie Ware into it.

So...I take it you DON'T agree? LOL. That's cool. Categories in music seem so arbitrary anyway and seem to pop up as much as newly-coined New York neighborhoods.

You both arrived at the same conclusion, or at least say you have, so I don't know what more to add but this:
