This song just got a ton of active rock adds. Looking promising! No real sign of it on alternative, but maybe it will do some damage their following some active rock success? We shall see.

I will say with all honestly. Deftones haven't released a good album since White Pony. And Nookie is miles better than anything on alt radio these days. ...You've gotta be trolling.

Actually, I'm kind of going to have to agree with him on his second point. "Nookie" isn't a very good song, but I'll take that over songs like "Fall in Love," "Shark Attack," or "Team." As for this song, this is pretty good. Wouldn't mind if it hit Alternative.

I don't hate the song 'Nookie' but I at least think that Alt's got songs better than it (specifically the three that you named and 'The Epilogue', lol)
I do like this song though but I don't think it fits as well on Alt as it does on Active.

Nope, not trolling, the points were made before my post. Otherwise wouldn't have posted them randomly to song I have no real connection tooo. As for the song review, the instrumental part is not bad at all, although the singer not that fond of. Reminds me of Black Keys (which I also aint a big fan off). As for Deftones , when someone asked before. For me by far their best (and the only one which I actually listen to anymore) is Adrenaline. Their more experimental, "dreamier" style that came from White Pony isn't really my thing. Last song I really enjoyed from Deftones was Minerva. And yes, my favorite song from White Pony is Back To School. And as for Nookie...I just LOVE me some Limp Bizkit and found it weird that even active hasn't given them a run. Every other big nu-metal band seems to still do well, but they didnt even crack the top 40 with their singles.

Well, most of the nu-metal bands from back in the day have evolved nowadays and aren't really "nu metal" anymore, unlike Limp Bizkit who does terrible songs with Lil Wayne now.
In other news, I absolutely love this song now, it's one of my faves on the chart right now and I hope this gets some Top 10 successs.

Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. It's been my #1 song in the personal charts for six straight weeks. So much better than the mediocre photocopied post-grunge creed/nickelback-wannabe "let's give it one more chance, girl" CRAP that has been called hard rock lately. This song makes me want to rip an oak tree down with my bare hands.

Dev, I don't think sadchild was calling it a post-grunge song--just saying that it was a much better representation of what hard rock should be than the cookie-cutter post-grunge stuff that was inescapably massive a decade ago.

I didn't say it is (like jvandyck87 said). I'm saying it's BETTER than the mediocre post-grunge that's been killing hard rock for about a decade now. Now to clarify THAT statement that I just made it, I don't dislike all post-grunge. But most of it is lame as hell. You know, those hard rock bands where half of the album is about 'I'm a stud/she's a slut' (songs like Theory Of A Deadman "Bad Girlfriend", Nickelback "Animals", Saving Abel "The Sex Is Good", My Darkest Days "Porn Star Dancing", etc etc etc etc). ... and the other half of the album is sappy apologies for being unfaithful and "can't we just work it out baby?" (songs like Adelita's Way "Inside", Crossfade "Cold", Daughtry "It's Not Over" and the very very embarrassing cover of "Careless Whisper" by Seether). It's like hard rock bands are buying songs from Celine Dion's songwriting team. This song "Out Of The Black" is the proper continuation of the mid 90s hard rock sound that I love along the lines of (early) Deftones, Quicksand, Fireside (before they went emo/power-pop), Helmet, Grinspoon, (early) Tool, Unsane, Corrosion Of Conformity, etc. Wikipedia is calling it "post-hardcore" and "alt metal". This song bypasses all of the watering-down and major-label-photocopying of hard rock (ie Bush, Silverchair, Creed, Nickelback, Theory Of A Deadman, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc) and takes it directly back to the raw style of the bands I mentioned above. And I freakin' LOVE it!

That's definitely not a photocopied post-grunge creed/nickelback-wannabe song. Very cool. But, I've never liked "Tomorrow". And "Freak" and "Abuse Me" are Nirvana-wannabe photocopy songs. I don't mind "Israel's Son" and "Pure Massacre" once in a while though.

I think Alternative is reluctant to play this just because Active has picked up on it. I really wish they wouldn't do that though. Active Rock music is still quite enjoyable.

I think alt stations are moving toward "Come On Over". My local modern rock station WPNH put "Come On Over" into heavy rotation, and I haven't heard "Out Of The Black" on there in a few weeks.
In other news, it's been my #1 song for 11 weeks straight!
