Five or ten years ago, this would have done better on Alternative than Active. I feel like Alt was about to play this but then remembered they don't play actual rock songs unless they are by Linkin Park or from 1994.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even Linkin Park's heavier offerings ("One Step Closer," "Somewhere I Belong," "Lying From You," etc.) still get a decent amount of Alt play. Or is the format now even too soft for that?

But that didn't stop them from playing their past hits.

I just thought that Alt stations still hadn't abandoned playing "In The End" and "Somewhere I Belong" on regular rotation, but maybe I'm wrong. It's just like how they still play Nirvana even though their music really doesn't fit in with all of the indie stuff.

I still hear plenty of 'heavy' Linkin Park and Alice In Chains songs on Alt radio, mixed in with Tove Lo and Lorde because Alt is bipolar.

Lol, that's funny cause earlier today my Alt station played "It's Time" followed by "Would?". Who knew that Imagine Dragons and Alice In Chains went hand-in-hand?

Or is the format now even too soft for that? Here's Linkin Park's chart run on Alternative with their singles: One Step Closer - #5 Crawling - #5 In The End - #1 Papercut - #32 Points of Authority - #29 Somewhere I Belong - #1 Faint - #1 Numb - #1 Breaking The Habit - #1 Numb/Encore - #40 What I've Done - #1 Bleed It Out - #2 Shadow Of The Day - #2 Given Up - #4 Leave Out All The Rest - #11 New Divide - #1 The Catalyst - #1 Waiting For The End - #1 Iridescent - #19 Burn It Down - #1 Lost In The Echo - #12 Castle Of Glass - #16 A Light That Never Comes - #7 Guilty All The Same - #21 Until It's Gone #35 I completely blame the current state of the chart for their lack of success from this album. There have been harder singles of theirs hit #1, so I certainly don't blame their sound there.

I think it depends on the station's imaging, really. Up here stations like Indie88 and The Peak wouldn't be caught playing Linkin Park, but stations like The Edge are actually going back and adding heavier music.

This looks like it's going to get blocked from Active #1 by Seether, which is a shame. It also burned out on Alt far faster than I wanted it to.

I didn't know Seether caught up that fast. I thought for sure this would sneak in at least one week

I guess it depends on how long Painkiller Days Grace sticks around before it starts to really fall but I hope Out of the Black gets a shot at #1. It still could happen, it just seems unlikely to me now.

Hopefully Painkiller starts to drop like a brick cause Words As Weapons is on its heels and 1000hp is flying up. Get at least one week in at #1, this song deserves it.

While this won't mean anything as far as its chart history, it is currently #1 in audience, which is functionally what's most important as far as the number of people being exposed to the song.

audience is viewer impressions over the past 7 days. Same as spin count.

A bit harsh in the spin decrease department...

Apologies for bumping a one-year-old thread up but there is apparently a new music video for this song.

Interesting... are they going to try and push this to Alternative again following the success of "Figure It Out"?

Little Monster needs to be a single. I can't get enough of that song and I think it has the radio-friendliness to do well on both formats.

I would love to see this get a re-release. I'm still neutral on "Figure It Out", but ever since this fell off the charts, it has grown on me considerably.

Somehow this song escaped my attention last year, but I loved Figure It Out. This song is really good too. I don't normally go for the heavy stuff, but there are always exceptions & this band occupies that space for me. I'm seriously considering adding this to my chart despite being about a year late. It wouldn't be the 1st time I was this late on a song (Habits & Hurricane are still on my chart). But then sometimes I'm way early on other tracks. Now that I'm participating on these boards, maybe I'll be more timely with my adds.
