This has so much potential. Reading about it on Rolling Stone makes me even more excited. It sounds direct, relevant and politically charged. This could be the rap equivalent and this decades American Idiot.

Very excited for this. I think GKMC did 220k opening week. Predictions for this? Consider J Cole did 330k+.

I'm predicting 550-600k.

Very excited for this. I think GKMC did 220k opening week. Predictions for this? Consider J Cole did 330k+. GKMC did 242K first week. Considering J. Cole and Kendrick share the same fan base for the most part, plus 2 Grammy wins and a much talked about SNL performance, I can see him pushing 600-650K. Jermaine did 353K in pure sales with an additional 18K in TEA and SEA with a traditional Tuesday release while Kendrick is doing a Monday release.

That'll be big if Kendrick can challenge Drake sales-wise. I was going to say 400k-ish but its true that he is a way bigger name than J Cole. GKMC is at 1.3 or 1.4 million at this point so he has proven he can move albums without a pop hit.

Somebody at iTunes pressed the wrong button so you can buy the clean version of the album (for now).

It's on Spotify too. The album is sounding great. But somebody at Interscope is definitely getting fired.

Clean version was taken down. My guess is that both the explicit and clean version will officially be released tomorrow instead.

I really don't get what's going on. I don't think it was an iTunes glitch that made it available, because Spotify also had it available. Spotify also is promoting a Kendrick Lamar playlist, so they obviously didn't just accidentally make the album available there either. Possibly a plan to drive demand by offering it for a short period, pulling it down, and then going back up tomorrow?

So will the album debut on the respective album charts next week or the week after? (assuming it remains in pre-order mode for the rest of the week)

Both versions seemed to be available for a short time last night; Kendrick even tweeted a link to the explicit link.

Waiting until I can have this album in my hands on Monday but I am excited for all of the positive comments. Taylor's reaction killed me.

Impressive album. IMO, on the same level as Kanye's MBDTF and Outkast's Stankonia.

FWIW, the album is still available in explicit and clean on Spotify. So I really don't know what to think of this "mistake".

I wonder if it'll be available in stores tomorrow because I was planning on buying AWOLNATION's album tomorrow and I would gladly pick this up also.

My guess is no, it won't be available tomorrow, maybe by the end of the week. By the way, I think releasing the album like this is a clever way to avoid a leak.

I assumed they would move forward with a digital release this week but still plan for physical copies to be released next week since that was the original release date.

Seems there was a miscommunication between Interscope and TDE about this, and Kendrick's calm reaction makes me think he was more in the know about it than TDE was. TDE is probably salty because they wanted the hugest opening week possible, and they may not be prepared to ship the physical out just yet. If this was a mistake it's one they pretty much had to commit to, otherwise the album would just get bootlegged like crazy.
I'll give this a listen later...when I'm finally able to pry myself away from Tinashe.

Good album. Reminds me of old Outkast material. I don't know if this will be something I play not stop though.

The production on this album is outstanding. Still listening and haven't heard one weak track. Still the sort of album that I'll have to sit with for a while, but i think it's stronger than Good Kid.
And I'm sure he probably doesn't care about getting any sort of massive hit, but "These Walls" could easily be pretty big for him.

I'm not a hip-hop or rap aficionado by any means (in case the Carrie Underwood avatar didn't give that one away), but I'm working to expand my horizons, and I have to say that I'm really, really, really loving this album. Solid production, and "King Kunta" is the one that clicked with me immediately. Incredible.
