What do Calvin Harris and Ashlee Simpson have in common? Both of them share vocals with Izza Kizza. Written by Calvin Harris and Izza Kizza Arranged, produced and performed by Calvin Harris All instruments performed by Calvin Harris Recorded at The Earth's Core, Glasgow Additional vocals by Izza Kizza Mastered by Brian "Big Bass" Gardner at Bernie Grundman Mastering, CA Published by EMI Publishing/Copyright Control Audio:Favourite lyric: "I'm missing you / It crossed my mind that our heart will bleed". "Worst Day" is a song from Calvin Harris, which features vocals from rapper Izza Kizza, whose real name is Terry Davis and it's from Timbaland's Mosley Music stable. How did both of them got in touch? I still don't know. Anyway, it is a dance-pop song with a prominent use of acoustic guitars, which it's something different in the electronica scene around 2009. I remember that I didn't like too much this track the first time I listened to it, but it grew on me. I think the reason of it was that the production is so good, as well as Calvin's vocals and Izza's rap. However, one of the weirdest thing about it is that it's about a dysfunctional relationship, so why did the track has to be an upbeat one? I obviously don't expect a ballad, but it's strange for me, although this doesn't make it to be bad at all.

Thank you so much again for all the comments! Sorry for the late replies though~ "5iliconeator"I love that song, my favorite song from Calvin without vocals! I think it's perfect for a soundtrack or something like that. Oh! I didn't think about that. "Let Me Know"Wow, I wasn't expecting Let Me Know! It's not bad, but very different from any Calvin Harris song, I like it! Can't believe 10 years have passed since then. I think no one see that coming, which really surprises me :) Ayah and Calvin are pretty much a match made in heaven on a music front to say the least. So true! "Greatest Fear"Another rare track from Calvin, I love the production. It is a bit messy, but I love it so much anyway. I'm kinda disappointed it was only an iTunes bonus track. The production is simply fantastic Really good comments! And I so agree with you Jessica regarding the only iTunes bonus track issue. I Created DiscoOf course an amazing album. The production is simple, but it works. One of my favorite albums of all time! I knew it! "I Need Your Love"Why is I Need Your Love so low? Maybe because I prefer the other songs from Calvin over it :) Seriously, I like it and it's catchy, but it didn't stand out as much as the remaining ones. Mixshows whored out the Nicky Romero remix to that, which was a travesty considering the song held up on its own within a mix already. I didn't know that Thank you for letting me know this. Top 30 is good though, though I wish it could have been higher... It was my least favorite song of all time, so damn repetitive and boring... but the music video was great! Now I like the song. I think the position is right. I expected I Need Your Love higher :|. I really love the production and the Ellie's vocals (Ok, I'm a bit biased, I'm a big fan of her ). For me is one of the best songs on 18 Months. Different opinions! :) I obviously don't consider it as boring though. "Rock Band"OMG Rock Band! I love that song, should be part of the countdown! Calvin + rock = crazy lol I know, but I decided to not include it because it wasn't part of any of his albums "Sweet Nothing""Sweet Nothing" never gets old, it's still fresh. I listen to it a lot, also the BURNS and Diplo remixes. :) Sweet Nothing is perfection. I love the emotion that it draws out of you. "Sweet Nothing" is nothing short of wonderful, and it has never burned on me. Love. So many great comments for "Sweet Nothing" <3
Great countdown so far! I'm especially enjoying the remixes and production sections, with my favorite so far being "Where Have You Been". Also, this is giving me good recommendations for what to listen to by him. :) That's the main reason I'm doing this countdown. Thank you Justin for pointing it out the latter. Great, great list, Juanito. Very well put together. Anyways, enjoying the list so far and loving your format (ie Spotify embedding, the banners, etc) for it too. Thanks to both of you! Glad you like the format Elle Nice countdown, but this is going to take a very long time to finish. Thank you and I know it. Sorry about that. I always want to make something different and if I consider that this is my first one, I'm really pushing my limits to make it something worthy. As a consequence, it's going to take some time. Hope it will like it ;) Can't wait for more! and sorry for the lack of comments, been very busy with school :( Thank you Daniel! Don't worry about the latter. Glad you come here though. Also, so good to know you really like "Holiday" and some other stuff, including Calvin's weird vocals, but those comments about "Where Have You Been" and the remixes… Amazing countdown! Can't wait to see the rest of the songs on it! Awesome! Thank you so much. Also, glad to know you really like the bonus tracks section so far <3
I'm also here if I see a Kylie cameo in the Best Songs Produced for Other Artist entries. Well... Kylie is next. Wish granted, I guess :)

Two songs who are sung by different people, but they have a really good connection :) Audio:• Watch the "Only the Horses" video here. Favourite lyric: "And if this is the end / It's the best place I've ever been / It feels so good to just get lost sometimes". "Only the Horses" is a song from Scissor Sisters, which was produced by the band and Alexander Ridha, who is better known as his stage name Boys Noize, and it was co-produced by Calvin Harris. It was released as the first single (1) off their fourth studio album Magic Hour. It's a synthpop song with some elements of house. Personally, I exactly don't know why I like this track so much. I mean, it's structurally similar to "We Found Love" and "Let's Go" and I even consider it like a rip-off of the two aforementioned songs, but there's something whick makes to get into it. Maybe, it could be the vocals from Jake Shears or the way you could interpret the lyrics of the track, especially in the chorus. Calvin also did an extended mix of the song, which you can listen to it here (2). Some production has been added to the beginning and the end of the track. Audio:• Watch the "In My Arms" video here. Favourite lyric: "How do you describe a feeling? / I've only ever dreamt of this". "In My Arms" is a song from Kylie Minogue, which was included on her tenth studio album X. It was released as the second worldwide single, with the exception of the UK and Oceania, where it was the third one. Besides the production, Calvin has also credits for songwriting. It's a synthpop and dance-pop song, which has elements of disco. I know most people give Rihanna the credits for Calvin's breakthrough success (mostly in the US, which I don't deny them of course), but it was actually Kylie, who gave Calvin a major exposure when she and/or her team recruited him for the sessions of the aforementioned album. This is what Calvin said to Mail Online when she met Kylie for the first time: And this is what he said to Gigwise when there were some rumours linking both of them: Apart from "In My Arms", Calvin produced two more tracks for Kylie. One of them is "Heart Beat Rock", which resembles most of the songs from his debut album I Created Disco for the disco sound and it's also included on X, while the second one is "Too Much", which was written by Calvin, Kylie and Jake Shears, the lead male singer of Scissor Sisters, and was produced by the former. It's a disco and synthpop track, which it really has a good energy on it. • Listen to "Heart Beat Rock" here. • Listen to "Too Much" here. I personally wish both (or the trio) work together in the future. (1) Actually, it could be considered as the second single because the first track to come out from the album was "Shady Love" and it got a limited vinyl release, despite the original release was cancelled. (2) Alternate link from their Soundcloud account.

Wish sooooo granted! In My Arms the first track that I played heavy off that album. Such a fun jam and the chorus is everything! This was actually the song that made me follow Calvin's work.

I agree about the comparison between Only The Horses and We Found Love & Let's Go structurally, but I still prefer the first to the other two . I really love this song, for sure my favourite song of Scissor Sisters. I'm glad it became a hit in my country. In My Arms and Too Much are amazing. I love Kylie and I hoped to hear another Calvin's production in her last work, but it didn't happen .

Three remixes are next. Audio:• Watch the "When You Were Young" video here. Favourite lyric: "And sometimes you close your eyes / And see the place where you used to live / When you were young". "When You Were Young" is a song from The Killers, which was released as the first single from their second album Sam's Town back in 2006. Seven years later, Calvin did a remix for it, which was included in the deluxe version of their compilation Direct Hits. I really like some stuff from The Killers, so it was incredible when I found out that Calvin was going to do a remix for them. He adds some synths to the new version, making Brandon Flowers' vocals and his production on the remix to complement very well with the EDM style. This is what Calvin said to Rolling Stone about remixing "When You Were Young": Personally, I wish Calvin could work with Brandon Flowers in the future. I mean, this needs to happen. Audio:• Watch the "Get Down" video here. Favourite lyric: "So they just dip, get down, get down / Galang, feel, get down / Stand up, get down, get down / Every man in the world light up". "Get Down" is a song from Groove Armada, which features Stush and uncredited vocals from Red Rat. It was chosen as the lead single from their fifth album Soundboy Rock. This is one of the earliest remixes that Calvin has done and it's really good in my opinion. It has some of the elements he used in the songs for I Created Disco. Also, I don't know, but I think he and Groove Armada made a swap because the latters remixed "The Girls" around that time too.
7 | "4th of July (Fireworks)" |
Audio: (1)• Watch the "4th of July (Fireworks)" video here. Favourite lyric: "Nothing I'll ever say or do / Will be as good as loving you". "4th of July (Fireworks)" is a song from Kelis, which was released as the second single from her fifth album Flesh Tone. It samples "You're My Heart" (Pilotpriest Remix) by Lioness. I really like Kelis' diversity and Flesh Tone is amazing. I mean, it's one of the best albums of 2010. It was rumoured that Calvin was going to do a collaboration with her for that album, but it never happened. I assume it was because of their schedules. Anyway, looks like to redeem it, Calvin was commissioned to do a remix for this track and it's amazing, although it's difficult to choose between it and the original. The beat drop is fantastic and the addition of synths are so good, making it to be a little harder. (1) Alternate link from Prefix Magazine's soundcloud account, in case the Spotify link is blocked.

Did you see all this coming? Written, arranged and produced by Calvin Harris All instruments performed by Calvin Harris Vocals by Rihanna Vocals produced by Kuk Harrell Vocals recorded by Kuk Harrell and Marcos Tovar Assisted by Alejandro Barajas Recorded at Fly Eye Studio, London and Westlake Recording Studios (Studio B), Los Angeles, CA Mixed by Calvin Harris at Fly Eye Studio, London and Phil Tan at Ninja Beat Club, Atlanta, GA Mixes assisted by Damien Lewis Published by EMI Music Publishing Audio:Favourite lyric: "We found love in a hopeless place." "We Found Love" is a song from Rihanna, which features credits from Calvin Harris. It was released as the first single from her sixth album Talk That Talk and it was also included on 18 Months with the reversed credits. It's a dance-pop and electro house track, which has some elements of techno and trance with some repetitive synthesizers, alarm bells and the keyboard's sound. Calvin previewed a snippet of the track (around the 6:00 mark) in 360 Sessions, which makes me think that he was planning to release it as the follow-up single of "Feel So Close" if it's considered that this show was recorded during the video shoot of the aforementioned song, around May and June of 2011. This is what Calvin said to MTV News about "We Found Love" and his collaboration with Rihanna: I can't deny that "We Found Love" is really good, but it's bittersweet for me. I mean, I'm very thankful to Rihanna because she was the one who made Calvin to have a breakthrough career in the US and worldwide, besides he already have some success in the UK and Australia, but I still think that he tried to replicate its success with his post-"We Found Love" tracks. Failed collaborations:Before Rihanna recorded the vocals of "We Found Love", Calvin had a person in mind when he wrote it: Leona Lewis. This is what she told the Daily Star about her recording with him: It's been said that the track was originally intended to be on Leona's album Glassheart. However, there was a problem. Leona wanted to release "Trouble" as the first single from her album, while Calvin was pushing it to be released as soon as possible. Sadly, neither of them could agree and the early recording was shelved. After her claims saying that her version was better, he told Kiss FM UK the following: As a consequence, Calvin confirmed that there's a demo, but he and Leona are the only ones who have it. Personally, I wish it could leak someday, although I don't see that happening because of the aforementioned. Sigh! Another person who passed "We Found Love" was Nicole Scherzinger. She said the following about it: Music Video:The "We Found Love" music video was directed by Melina Matsoukas and it was unveiled on the website WhoSay.com on October 19, 2011 and it was uploaded on Rihanna's VEVO channel as well. Remixes:The digital remix package of "We Found Love" includes eight remixes from Chuckie, Cahill and R3hab, while the physical release includes the Calvin Harris extended mix along the original version. If I have to choose one, I think I would go with the R3hab's XS extended mix, although the one made by Calvin is also good. • Listen to the Chuckie extended remix here. • Listen to the Chuckie dub here. • Listen to the Cahill edit here. • Listen to the Cahill club here. • Listen to the Cahill dub here. • Listen to the R3hab's XS remix edit here. • Listen to the R3hab's XS extended remix here. • Listen to the R3hab's XS dub here. • Listen to the Calvin Harris extended mix here. Additional comments:This is what die Lotterie said about this track: Also, he told to share this video, which he entitled as: "Video of me f**ked up dancing to this in a trashy Miami apartment the week it leaked." and to tag hitseeker. because: "He'll be so proud, he's Rihanna's biggest stan!". Done! Anyway, the video is still f*cking hilarious!!! Side note: This is Rihanna's third most viewed video on VEVO to date. It's already #VEVOCertified too. PS. If you look really close at the credits, you could see that Calvin didn't record Rihanna's vocals. So, some of you may be wondering, how did Rihanna know the vocals should be? The answer seems pretty obvious: There's a demo. Calvin told Jian Ghomeshi from Q (around the 15:53 mark) that there was an early version from Calvin himself singing in falsetto like a girl and there was another one, which was the one he sent to Rihanna's team, from Ayah Marar who did a favour to him because he wasn't going to send his. Ayah, her impact! :'(

"We Found Love" is so good. I love Rihanna's vocals, but Calvin's production is just as good, if not better. His production helps to make this one of my favorites from Rihanna.
Anyways, I'm glad you got this started back up again. :)

In My Arms is amazing! One of my favorite productions from Calvin (that are not from his albums) Well, WFL is not bad, but I think it's overrated, #27 is a good place for that song, is not his best song like a lot people say (and thanks to that song Calvin became generic :() I want the rest!!
