Cute hook, great vocals, chorus is a bit repetitive but not annoyingly so. But is Gwen even on this? I can't hear her at all. I can hear her but I wouldn't really credit this as a duet either more like backup than a full fledged duet. Think "Home" as Miranda Lambert was singing backup but it wasn't credited as a duet.

I agree, it's not like she has her own part in the song to sing, a verse or even chorus of her own. It's obviously just a way to cross promote 2 Voice products on a record.

It's NOT credited as a duet. It says "Featuring" Gwen Sebastian. She's providing harmony vocals, not unlike Faith Hill on Tim's "Meanwhile Back At Mama's."

I don't see your point. "Featuring" doesn't mean that it's not a duet. Was We Were Us not a duet between Keith Urban & Miranda Lambert because it was credited as "featuring Miranda Lambert"? I mean she sings a full verse and the chorus.

^WWU was actually credited as Keith Urban AND Miranda Lambert. It went down as both's single.

I'm impressed. Almost top twenty (#21) after four weeks. Not bad for a FIFTH single.

I have to say that I am really enjoying this easy going tune. It is a refreshing number to hear come on the radio especially with all of the other clutter out there right now. I wasn't expecting a fifth single from this album, but this should be another easy #1 (and one I can root for).

I think that there's a cynical explanation and a sweet one for the discrepancy between Gwen's actual and advertised role, and I think that both apply in equal parts. I'll start with the sweet one: back when Gwen Sebastian was a contestant on Season 2 of The Voice and knocked out in a "battle round," Blake Shelton promised her that he would continue to help her professionally. He obviously has (hiring as his backup singer, etc.), and crediting her with a full feature on this song is, I think, a continuation of his effort to get her name out there more. Moreover, given the pull Blake and his team have with CMA and ACM voters, "My Eyes" is a likely Vocal Event nominee, which will turn Gwen Sebastian into a final round nominee at the CMAs. The Vocal Event nomination potential is connected to the cynical explanation. Categorizing "My Eyes" as a full-fledged collaboration gives Blake's people a way to enter him into a category that, while increasingly competitive thanks to people with similar ideas, is less competitive than the Single of the Year category. So it presents a way to increase Blake's nomination total. [As a side note, I think this logic is behind the categorization of "Meanwhile, Back at Mama's" as a full-fledged feature, as well, despite Faith only turning up for harmonies. Tim McGraw can no longer count on being nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, so his chance for nominations largely turns on whether he can score in the music categories of Single, Album, and Vocal Event. "Meanwhile, Back at Mama's" seems like a certain nominee for Vocal Event, at least.]

I'd been meaning to comment on this one but I kept forgetting. This is a pretty solid song--I really like Blake's voice here and the hook is both cute and clever. Furthermore, Blake really pulls this one off, whereas I felt he sounded incredibly awkward in "Sure Be Cool If You Did"..."My Eyes" has a sultry feel to it and Blake nails it with his delivery. "Doin' What She Likes" wasn't too bad but this is miles better, and this is easily my favorite Blake single in years, possibly since his Startin' Fires album 5 years ago (I loved both "She Wouldn't Be Gone" and "I'll Just Hold On", and "Home" before them was a great single as well). "Who Are You When I'm Not Looking" was another decent one but it's not one that I go out of my way to listen to. "God Gave Me You" is a nice song as well but a bit over-cooked, and I could do without hearing "Honey Bee" ever again.
It's nice to see Blake going with a song like this. It's fairly country-sounding, not overproduced, and it doesn't try to do too much--it doesn't try to be more clever than it is. It's just a nice love ballad, simple as that. I'm quite confident he'll score another #1 with this, and that will tie him with Rodney Crowell's "5 Billboard #1's from one album" record. I do think FGL's "This Is How We Roll" will hit #1 but that's a deluxe version-only song, and Paisley's "Waitin' On A Woman" was only on the re-released version of 5th Gear so I don't completely count that case and I'll treat the FGL case the same. But Blake has an excellent chance to score a 5th #1, all coming from the standard version of the album, and that would make "My Eyes" his 12th #1 in a row.

First time i heard this song, i didn't like it at all, But it grew on me so much. I think it's very sexy and magical song, makes people keep repeating and singing along. And i can't wait to see his upcoming album which could be released in the last fall. Hope he makes some good music.

I agree with the good points here. The song has a great sultry vibe and it doesn't overdo it, and Blake sounds great on it.

I do think the hook is quite clever, but other than that I just find this to be very uninteresting.

Just checked the charts and honestly can't get over how well this song is doing. Actually, it's Blake Shelton so I guess it's to be expected. He can't be stopped, but this song just isn't great. It's probably just an okay song for me. The lyrics are corny and the repetitiveness gets old quick. Very boring to me.

I hope he challenges himself for the upcoming CD.

Man, I was expecting the majority to be right once I heard this song in high repetition. After all, I was initially somewhat happy about "Over", a song I had only heard a couple times when the album was released (I had put it on the same level as "Sunny in Seattle" and "Get Some"), but that became boring extremely extremely fast.
But this one is so different. I think I like this even more than I did when the album came out. This has to be one of my favorites on the entire chart right now. I leave the car on just to hear this song in its entirety. This will be Blake's most well-deserved hit in some time. I like this even more than SBCIYD and DWSL. I applaud Blake Shelton once again for an era of improvement now that I have learned to respect BRH as well. Hopefully Miranda's success with "Automatic" keeps pushing him in the right direction (and not the boring ballad WAYWINL, DOI, Over, MWBY direction in an attempt to seem respectable next to bro country because boring is just as bad).
Looks like a 12th straight Billboard number one in the making, and it's my favorite of the 12. Someone should have a poll on that because when his streak almost inevitably continues with the next lead single, we may be running out of options on the poll haha.
Forget FGL being the 3rd ever 5 #1 single album (and the 2nd on re-release). This looks to be the 2nd standard edition album with 5. Blake really could've pulled it off last era too with the right choice (meaning not "Hey" or "Good Ol' Boys or perhaps "I'm Sorry"), but prepare to write his name in the history books. (Still lamenting Barefoot Bluejean Night not getting its name in there with a 5th release of "Heaven"!)

Only problem with this is that "This Is How We Roll" has peaked at #2! So they did not set the record of 5 straight #1's to open a career, nor did they *tie the record of 5 #1's from one album. But yes, if "My Eyes" can top the Billboard chart in a few weeks, Blake would be the first artist to have five Billboard #1's from one album (excluding re-releases) since Rodney Crowell's Diamonds & Dirt album produced five #1's back in 1988-89. Even more impressive is that Blake would be the first to do it in the Nielsen BDS era. Had FlaGa hit #1 I wouldn't have quite counted their streak since TIHWR came from a deluxe re-release (which is how I treat Brad Paisley's 5th Gear era as well).

The album was released a year and 2 months ago... and the 5th single will be Top 10 next week! You're right. The Greatest Gainer at #8 after eight weeks. I think Warner Bros. has sensed Republic Nashville failed with Florida Georgia Line/Luke Bryan in getting a fifth #1 out of Here's To The Good Times, so they are pushing the hell out of Blake Shelton/Gwen Sebastian.

This song is so bland. I can't get into this at all, but I'm glad to see he'll be getting 5 #1s off of this album.

I still think this is fairly bland too, but it'll be great accomplishment if when he gets 5 #1s without a re-release. I wonder if they'll go for a sixth single if this peaks quickly enough.

Blake vs. Justin Moore for #1 this coming week? "My Eyes" has a lot of ground to make up, but he's seen some killer updates lately. Also, he jumped to #1 on tonight's Indicator chart (not that that necessarily means anything, though).

I know Blake is at the top of the list when it comes to the genres star status, but I'm amazed how fast this song has risen to the top 5. Greatest gainer in the top 10 on both MB and Billboard landing at #3 and #4 respectively. It's only 10 weeks old, and for a fifth single to get 40 million in audience after just 10 weeks is incredible. I still think that Justin is a little too far ahead on both charts to be caught by Blake, but Blake should easily get it the following week at just 12 weeks old to nab his fifth #1 single off Based On A True Story.
This is one of my least favorites from him only because I find it so uninteresting. Sometimes I enjoy repetitiveness in songs ("El Cerrito Place" comes to mine) but this song doesn't have a strong enough hook or melody or unique instrumentation to make up for it. The good thing is that because this song has risen up the charts so fast, that this era will come to an end and hopefully Blake will actually release something that I genuinely enjoy again.

^Good minds can still think...oppositely lol. Haha in all seriousness though I still enjoy this song and its probably close to being in the top five of my Blake songs. It just hits all the right notes for me...it's mellow and puts me in a smooth kind of move. It also has a Don Williams type feel that I enjoy.

Repetitive choruses occasionally work for me, "Broke Record" off of Eric Church's latest is a great example of a fantastic, repetitive chorus. This one does not, more grating than anything to me.

I feel like the singles from this album progressively got weaker and weaker. This song does nothing for me, it's just there. I don't hate it, I don't like it, and I certainly won't go out of my way to play it. It's just too dull for me. I wish Blake would do more songs like Ol Red, Some Beach, and Honey Bee.

This will be an easy #1 for Blake on next Monday's chart, as he has absolutely no competition for the #1 spot. Justin Moore started falling in today's Mediabase update already and Blake's lead over "Beachin'" has widened to almost 2.5 million now.
I can say with almost complete certainty already (let's call it 99%) that "My Eyes" will be #1 on Mediabase this Sunday and #1 on Billboard a week from now. Thus Blake will be the first artist since Rodney Crowell in 1988-89 to score 5 Billboard #1's from a single album (Rodney's was his Diamonds & Dirt album), not including re-released albums such as Brad Paisley's 5th Gear. And Rodney did it back in the pre-BDS era too, so that makes Blake's feat even more impressive.
