I think this will hit a point where it just starts to stall out quickly after the buzz is over. I can't see it hitting Top 10 with the current climate of the format. I'm surprised it took off this fast so it isn't surprising me that the bullet is fading a little already. It's not going to get a strong start like Coming of Age did in January. This deserves to hit the Top 10. If this is even too heavy for that, the current climate needs some changes.

More songs that blend the current state with a heavier sound like Come With Me Now will shift it over.

Only 22 spins behind Tennis Court. Should pass it tomorrow. Foster has to drop past it, then Thunder Clatter. Past that, it's all smooth sailing FROM HERE ON OUT, YEAH.

it's all smooth sailing FROM HERE ON OUT, YEAH. Speaking of songs that should be doing better on Alt... As long as this hits Top 10 on either Alt or Active, I'll be happy.

"Tennis Court" is better than this. And can we stop pretending that this is some kind of hard rocking song?

Burning out for me very fast...at about the same rate as Train's new one, and that's pretty bad.

I kind of want to root for it but find that it's more diminishing returns.

I wish that said Alternative.
On a side note, has anyone noticed the similarity in title with "I Don't Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore" by The Menzingers?

Just listened to the album and I like it. Slight drop in quality from Endgame but still solid all the way through. IMO the real standout track is "Methodone" so I want that to be a single for sure.
Before anyone says anything about it, I can't stress enough that "The Eco-Terrorist In Me" would have never at any point been an alternative hit, so if it does get released as a single, save everyone the annoyance of "OMG WHY ISNT THIS SMASHING ON ALT." The screaming just doesn't fit on the format. I do think it would be a fantastic active single though, and a double release with that going to active and "People Live Here" going to alternative would be a cool idea (My second favourite from the album after "Methodone").

They would never. Release. That. As. A. Single. Ever. Not even back in 2006. It's the best song they've made in eight years though. Although this is still kinda boring, it was less boring than Endgame and Appeal to Reason. So "Methadone" and "People Live Here" would definitely smash, and maybe even "Tragedy + Time". If they want a hard-hitting rocker, "Zero Visibility" or "A Beautiful Indifference".

One of my favourite albums of all time "A Beautiful Indifference" also stood out as a possible active rock success when I heard it, so I agree there.

I meant on Alternative, they've never eyed Active success until last week when IDWTBHA's Active success overtook its Alt success. They need a rocker, and the ones I listed are definitely softer than IDWTBHA, except Zero Visibility. The Great Die-Off could also work, but they'd need to edit out the "WE WANT THE MOTHERf**kinG WORLD" line out because Rise Against do not provide censored versions (it's something they're rising against). "Methadone", "People Live Here" and "Tragedy + Time" could all do well on Alt, they're soft enough. "People Live Here" could be their "Swing Life Away" or "Audience of One", except this time it's not cheesy or boring as hell. And Appeal to Reason is definitely my least favorite Rise Against album. The Sufferer & The Witness > Revolutions Per Minute >>>>> Siren Song of the Counter Culture >>>>>>>>>The Unraveling>>>>>>> The Black Market >>>>>>> Endgame >>>>> Appeal to Reason.

I need to listen to the album again to really determine what I think about it. I listened to it over the period of the day yesterday at work and I don't think listened to an entire song without pausing it because of interruptions. Just firsthand, I do think this has the least amount of aggressive punk out of any Rise Against album and I think they're slowly changing their styles and experimenting a bit. Nevertheless, as every Rise Against album, I thought from what I remember hearing kicked motherf*cking ass!

I really liked the album, and I think "Tragedy + Time" would be a good second single. "The Black Market" and "Methadone" would work well too.

I got to listen to the album again. This time without much interruption. "The Eco-Terrorist in Me" is awesome, but yeah... not single material at all. "Tragedy + Time" and "Sudden Life" I think would be good choices for radio. I also really like "People Live Here" as the album's ballad. A good mixture of sound on this record for sure. They've done this on past albums, but I think they wanted to demonstrate it more than in the past that they can make other songs rather than "Give It All" parts, 2, 3, 4, etc.
