www.rollingstone.com/music/live-reviews/taylor-swift-whips-new-york-into-a-frenzy-on-good-morning-america-20141030By 7 a.m., Times Square was already packed: Young girls in their plaid school skirts and cheerleader uniforms were huddled across the Midtown hub, waiting to see Taylor Swift perform on Good Morning America and hoping that their first period teachers were also fans of the 24-year-old pop star. Swift's latest album, 1989, might be her most mature yet – a transition into pop, adulthood and independence – but clearly, the 16-and-under crowd remains as enthralled as ever. After soundcheck, the singer gave the earliest spectators a full performance of "Out of the Woods," and a trio of her youngest fans – between the ages of 6 and 11 – were pulled onstage to sing their favorite Swift songs. Groups in the crowd danced and sang along – shook it off, even – building anticipation and staying warm on a cool fall morning. Following a brief choreographed routine from a small squad of pre-teens outfitted in neon shirts and headbands, George Stephanopoulos and the rest of the Good Morning America anchor crew welcomed Swift onstage. "As far as the eye can see, the Swifties are out," said co-host Robin Roberts, noting that with thousands of fans blocking traffic, this was the largest Times Square concert GMA had ever hosted. "Good morning, America, and welcome to New York," Swift said before diving into her synth-pop ode to her adopted home. As the sun rose, her sequined all-black ensemble glistened in the light, and their look was framed by fans holding gigantic Polaroid photo borders, emulating her album cover as she did her various note-holding power stances. In a brief conversation with Roberts, Swift revealed that plans for an upcoming tour were being worked out – she is excited to announce more "when she can." Graciously, she thanked the fans who had spent the night outside in order to get a good spot for the show and those who had been already to mastered her new lyrics. "Out of the Woods" followed, and she acted out its lyrics by dancing in front of Tumblr-like forest imagery. The arrival of several horn players indicated that 1989's lead single, "Shake It Off," would close out the concert, but the lovingly shrill screams of "I love you Taylor!" would have the final word. "I legitimately am completely in awe of how many people are here," Swift said before taking selfies with the crowd. As industry expert debate whether the new record will sell 1 million first-week copies and those outside simply admire her onstage swagger, the early morning fervor surprised no one else.

From BuzzJack Music Forum: 1 Taylor Swift - 1989 (70.3k) * 2 Ed Sheeran - x (30.2k) 3 Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour (11.6k) 4 Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV/Four Symbols (10.1k) ^ 5 Ben Howard - I Forget Where We Were (9.5k) This is the Thursday update in the UK and the gap is now 40.1k in favour of 1989. Looks like it could debut atop with more than 100k there.

I'm sure that they will all sign another deal... maybe Justin will pursue acting, but that's a pretty big if....

Taylor Swift's next deal will almost certainly be just as good if not better than her current one. If there's anyone in the industry who can demand $15-20 million, it's Taylor.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop-shop/6304059/taylor-swift-1989-second-singleTaylor Swift’s Next ‘1989’ Single Is…By Jason Lipshutz, New York | October 30, 2014 2:16 PM EDT Taylor Swift’s lead single from 1989, “Shake It Off,” is still going strong at No. 2 on the Hot 100 chart as the album heads toward a million-plus sales debut. Now that everyone has heard the full album, though, we can collectively speculate: what will the official follow-up single to “Shake It Off” be? On Thursday, Swift’s label Big Machine/Republic gave us the answer: “Blank Space” is the second single from 1989. The song will officially impact Top 40/mainstream, Top 40/rhythm and Hot AC radio on Nov. 10. “Blank Space” is the second song on the 1989 track list, a Max Martin/Shellback collaboration (just like “Shake It Off”) that finds the pop superstar owning up to her dating record and talking candidly to her potential new beau. “Got a long list of ex-lovers/They’ll tell you I’m insane,” Swift shrugs on the chorus, “but I got a blank space baby/And I’ll write your name.” 1989 is now surging toward a 1.2 million sales debut, which would rival the 1.21 million bow of her last album, 2012’s Red. According to sources, 1989 moved more than 600,000 albums in its first day on sale on Monday (Oct. 27), mostly due to Target and iTunes Store purchases. “Shake It Off” became Swift’s second No. 1 single on the Hot 100 chart when it was released in August and debuted atop the chart. Prior to the release of 1989, she previewed her fifth full-length with the non-singles “Out Of The Woods” and “Welcome To New York.” #LOLBillboard This was reported three days ago...

1. "Shake It Off" 2. "Blank Space" 3. "Style" 4. "Out Of The Woods" 5. "Bad Blood" / "Wildest Dreams"
I feel like 1-4 are certified monsters.

Let me just say that her team is extremely effective in keeping this off YouTube. So much so, I just caved in and bought the album a few minutes ago. My first Taylor Swift purchase ever. I'll be back shortly with an official review.

You Are In Love, This Love, and Clean are masterpieces. The ballads on this album>>>>>mid/up-tempos. The only songs in the same league are Blank Space and Out Of The Woods. I can get on board with New Romantics now. I listened to the lyrics closely and they fit the manic instrumentation. Great album all around!

First Listen: 19891. Welcome to New York A great opener in my opinion. It sets the tone for a very nostalgic 80s influenced album. I don’t get why this one gets so much hate, but I digress. “Boys and Boys and Girls and Girls” will be iconic :'( 2. Blank Space Why does this remind me so much of Baby by Justin Beiber? Regardless, it’s perfect for Pop radio, and I can definitely see why they chose it as the second single. 3. Style This is good. I guess my expectations were super high since all the queens were creaming over it when the album first leaked. 4. Out of the Woods This one is FLAWLESS. My favorite pre-release track by far, and probably my favorite on the album. The lyrics, production, and even her voice (!) ( :o ) are all top notch. This one will likely end up being my favorite Taylor song ever. 5. All You Had to Do Was Stay This one is nice. A tad bit of a regression from the 1-2-3 punch that is Black Space, Style, and Out of the Woods but not bad by any means 6. Shake It Off Nothing really new here. Very Taylor Swift. Not my favorite but I’m obviously in the minority considering how well it has done. I do like the message though. SHAKE DEM HATAHS AWFF TAYLOR! :'( 7. I Wish You Would Filler. 8. Bad Blood So considering the relatively negative feedback I was expecting something pretty dismal. However, it’s not bad at all. It’s pretty damn catchy actually. I little immature, but catchy. 9. Wildest Dreams VERY Lana Del Rey. I really like it though. The lyrics seem to be the standout. It’s a step in the right direction after the relatively low points of I Wish You Would, AYHTDWS and Shake It Off. 10. How to Get a Girl And… there’s regression again. It’s songs like this one that keeps me from fully appreciating Taylor’s songwriting; simply because after a while it tends to feel redundant. BUT, its obviously appealing or else her biggest hits wouldn't all have the same message (minus Shake It Off). 11. This Love Cute. One of those songs where you know you’re nearing the end of an album. 12. I Know Paces Avril? Reminds me a lot of her earlier material which definitely isn’t a bad thing. 13. Clean Nice album track closer. Solid album. I must say that going in my expectations were fairly low. I’ve always respected Taylor for her numbers and appeal to so many, but I have never considered myself a fan by any means. It’s funny since this is her “transition” album from Country to Pop music, but it really doesn’t feel like it. It’s almost like there was no transition, and she just pulls out these catchy hooks and choruses effortlessly as if she’s a veteran in producing genuine pop tunes. Although I wouldn’t consider this album that much of a departure from her precious work since she’s been dabbing in Pop since Love Story (?), it’s still impressive how comfortable she seems. I will also applaud her vocals on this album. The production is clearly the standout, but I do like how she pushed more vocally, specifically on songs like Out of the Woods. She’s only what, 24(?) so it could be that her voice it just starting to fully mature. Regardless if you’re a fan of Taylor or not, 1989 has to be one of the most exciting releases in Pop music in a decade. I think the last album from an American artist that had this much hype without gimmicks was Confessions. It really does feel like an event, and really rejuvenates a music lover’s faith in the industry that regardless of how bad things seem, people still buy albums. And before anyone brings up ADELE, she is a totally different case. 21 was a phenomenon. Like, a once in a lifetime album from an artist that basically came out of nowhere and holds the entire world by the balls. I don’t think that any contemporary pop artist should be put to the same standard, simply because ADELE’s situation is simply so unique. Taylor on the other hand, the CONSISTENCY. Banking three consecutive albums with over one million sold in the first week is just unbelievable. She may not have my loyalty, but she definitely has my respect. Singles should be…. 1. Shake It Off2. Blank Space3. Out of the Woods4. Style5. Bad Blood

Taylor Swift's 10 Most Underrated SongsBy Erin Strecker and Jason Lipshutz | October 28, 2014 10:45 AM EDT "Enchanted," "Better Than Revenge," "Ronan" and more: it's time to talk T-Swift deep cuts. All Taylor Swift obsessives have their favorite deep cuts — the songs that those who only know her radio smashes might not be aware of, but the hardcore fans can’t get enough of. Since her debut album in 2006, Swift has been crafting hits that demonstrate her range as an artist and songwriter, and as her sound has evolved, so have the hidden gems on each of her pre-1989 albums. From the adorable love ode “Mary’s Song” to the seething “You’re Not Sorry” to the far-reaching “State of Grace,” these 10 songs show that, even as she has grown into the pop superstar she is today, Swift has tossed out a number of stellar tracks that stand toe-to-toe with her most accomplished hits. Taylor Swift Says '1989' Is 'The Best Thing I've Done, Without a Doubt' Check out our picks for the 10 most underrated Taylor Swift songs — they might not be your go-to jam, but they deserve to be on your next T-Swift playlist: 10. State of Grace Red covers a lot of ground over the course of its 16 tracks, and none of its tracks can match the mass of its gargantuan opening track, “State of Grace.” The guitars on this song swing freely like chimes from a forgotten Cure album, and Swift’s voice is in full arena-rock mode, making the tremble on the chorus line “And I never saw you coming” a universal sentiment. An unbelievable song on an album full of them. 9. A Place In This World You’re likely familiar with one of Swift’s latest tunes, “Welcome To New York,” but Swift has been dreaming of the big city for quite a long time. Off Taylor Swift, this under-appreciated gem pairs wide-eyed wonder with open longing – terms that would become hallmarks of Swift’s oeuvre. 8. Eyes Open “Safe & Sound,” Swift’s collaboration with The Civil Wars, was the bigger hit, but her other song on the original Hunger Games soundtrack is the better encapsulation of the film’s themes and Katniss Everdeen’s ever-relatable struggle. The chugging rock track finds Swift at her most unsettled — there are moments on the bridge where the typically steady country star sounds downright paranoid. 7. Ronan A charity single released in 2012 as part of Stand Up For Cancer, “Ronan” was written by Swift after she read the blog of a mother, Maya, about her four-year-old son, Ronan Thompson, who died of cancer. “I remember the drive home/ when the blind hope/ changed to crying and screaming why/Flowers pile up in the worst way/ no one knows what to say/ about a beautiful boy that died,” Swift heartbreakingly sings on the track, which gives Maya a co-writing credit. 6. You’re Not Sorry The heartbreak queen lets loose on this Fearless number: sung over strings and a single piano part, Swift’s lyrics about cutting your losses and moving on showcase her ability to resonate with fans of all ages.“Looking so innocent I might believe you if I didn’t know. Could have loved you all my life if you hadn’t left me waiting in the cold,” Swift – her voice full of pain – explains. 5. Hey Stephen This Fearless track is Swift at her innocent best, proving she can turn anything – a forgotten scarf, a memory, even a simple hallway conversation – into a catchy tune with ripped-from-her-diary honesty. This tune is also a great showcase for Swift’s lyrical humor: “Hey Stephen/all those other girls/ yeah they’re beautiful/ but would they write a song for you?” 4. Enchanted It’s no wonder this song was also the title of one of Swift’s fragrances: more so than many of her tunes, this song conjures a memory of an elegant meet-cute so complete it’s easy to forget it didn’t even happen to you. It’s a completely unforgettable tune about unfulfilled wishes, secrets, and magical nights. In other words, it’s perfectly distilled T-Swift. 3. Better Than Revenge Don’t mess with Taylor Swift: she has no qualms about calling out mean girls in addition to lame ex-boyfriends, and this tune — chock full of snark and sass — shows that she knows how to have the last word. “She’s better known for things that she does on the mattress” is one of Swift’s most iconic standalone lyrics, and while it’s not very, um, polite, it demonstrates just how powerful a songwriting punch she can pack. The fact that it’s scientifically impossible for the chorus not to be stuck in your head after listening to it just once is the cherry on top of this Lyric Burn Dessert. 2. Mary’s Song (Oh My My) As much creative power as Taylor Swift accrues from devastating breakups, she’s also pretty on-point when it comes to everlasting love, as found on this ode to her next-door neighbors’ childhood romance turned lifelong adoration. Has there ever been more of a lump-in-throat moment at the end of a Taylor Swift song than when she concludes here with, “I’ll be eighty-seven, you’ll be eighty-nine/I’ll still look at you like the stars that shine/In the sky, oh my my my…”? Cue the collective “awwwww.” 1. Dear John Casual fans may only know “Dear John” as “the song about John Mayer,” but Taylor Swift diehards understand that this is less a song and more an evisceration. Swift, often so strict at confining herself to the structure of straightforward pop songs even when operating in the country genre, sprawls herself out here and lets her hurt seep into the expensive furniture for nearly seven minutes. The result is not exactly radio-friendly but is mesmerizing nonetheless, as Swift sounds downright furious when she spits the line, “Don’t you think too young to be played/By your dark twisted games/When I loved you so?/I should’ve known.” There are screw-you songs directed at exes, and then there is “Dear John,” an expertly crafted middle finger that exists in a class of its own in Swift’s catalog. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop-shop/6296840/taylor-swift-most-underrated-songs?utm_source=twitter This article fails from the lack of "Cold As You".

I don’t think that any contemporary pop artist should be put to the same standard, simply because ADELE’s situation is simply so unique. It's going to be very hard for Adele to have success anywhere close to the level of 21 ever again. People talk like her new album will drop and sell millions in the first week. She has an easier road than many, but the material is going to need to be there for Adele, or else she's not going to carry the pop crowd over with her. And since everybody else is doing it: 1)Red 2)1989 3)Speak Now 4)Taylor Swift 5)Fearless You Belong With Me is seriously the only song on Fearless that like.

More on Taylor's Cosmo Takeover.I think this is almost as much as Katy Perry had earlier this year with her Cosmo takeover. Taylor Swift Covers 23 Editions Of ‘Cosmopolitan’ For December, NBD Is she even real? by Quinn Keaney 10 hours ago You might think that having a crazy-popular album blowing up the charts, being hailed as the Queen of Street Style, and getting one of the biggest cities in the world to declare you their tourism ambassador would be enough success for one person’s lifetime, but if that person happens to be newly minted pop diva Taylor Swift, it’s all in a day’s work. How she has time to breathe we’ll never know. Related: Taylor Swift Tells Us About Her Favorite Red Lipstick: Watch In addition to dropping the infectiously catchy 1989, Taylor probably thought to herself, “You know what? I think I deserve to be on a magazine cover for all of this,” and British Cosmo was all, “Actually, you deserve to be on TWENTY THREE magazine covers for all this.” Totes casual. Well, Swifties, hang on to your cats and Drake-themed needlepoints, because this is the total Tay-keover (sorry, I tried) that we’ve been waiting for. Tay will be on the December cover of British Cosmo, as well as 23 other international editions of the mag. It’s kind of amazing, but from a purely mathematical perspective that is entirely accurate and factual, Taylor Swift x 23 Cosmo covers = a level of flawless not known to man. Therefore, we are unable to put every single one here for you to see, but we rounded up our three favorites: UK Taylor-Swift-Cosmopolitan James White/Cosmopolitan Is anyone else having major New Year’s Eve outfit inspiration right now? She slays in this purple dress. SLAYS. France Taylor Swift James White/Cosmopolitan The French version of Taylor is trés amaze thanks to that beaded one-shoulder mini dress. South Africa Taylor Swift James White/Cosmopolitan At this point Taylor Swift is basically the unofficial mascot of the crop top, and the South African edition of Cosmo shows off her favorite style along with some fierce high-waisted black and white shorts that need to be in our closet. Like, immediately. The interview appears in the December issue of Cosmopolitan, which goes on sale November 4, and is also available in a digital edition on Apple Newsstand. If you want to check out even more content from her shoot, head on over to Cosmo’s UK site. www.mtv.com/news/1981478/taylor-swift-cosmo-magazine-covers/

Since I was only lukewarm on SN and especially Red, I was going to pass on this album. “Style” finally convinced me, and I'm glad I did. 1. “Blank Space” (probably going to remain my favorite for a while) 2. “How You Get the Girl” 3. “I Know Places” 4. “Style” 5. “This Love” 6. “New Romantics” 7. “Shake It Off” 8. “You Are in Love” 9. “Wildest Dreams” 10. “Bad Blood” 11. “Welcome to New York” 12. “Clean” 13. “All You Had to Do Was Stay” 14. “I Wish You Would” 15. “Out of the Woods” 16. “Wonderland” These last three are the only songs I don't really care for. 1. Fearless2. 19893. Taylor Swift4. Speak Now5. Red

It's extremely possible that 1989 could beat Britney Spears' debut week sales record of 1.319 million. Which is all the more impressive when you consider how much has changed in the realm of album sales in the last 14 years.
