Taylor Swift confirmed to sing at Radio 1's Big Weekend Taylor Swift is the first singer confirmed to perform at Radio 1's Big Weekend 2015. The festival will take place in Norwich, England, later this year. It be held in the city's Earlham Park on 23-24 May. "They are rowdy, insane, in the best way - there seems to be a lot of jumping, which I love," the singer said of British music fans. We think this US cop will be looking forward to Taylor's performance too "Everyone talks about the festivals in England being the best ones you can go to. I feel like I've been missing out - I'm really excited." The full line-up for the event and ticketing information will be announced on Radio 1 over the coming months. Last year's event in Glasgow was opened by One Direction and headlined by Coldplay and Katy Perry. Harry Styles from One Direction One Direction opened Radio 1's Big Weekend in Glasgow in 2014 Big Weekend 2015 will be broadcast live on Radio 1, 1Xtra and streamed on the Radio 1 website. Highlights will also be broadcast live on BBC Three. www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/30947742

I still can't believe that "1989" was able to outsell "Red" in just 3 months.

IDK if people are aware, but the '1989' instrumentals have leaked. Not the karaoke versions, the actual instrumentals.

^Eww, that's gross.
Btw, what do you guys think Tay will release for summer? We already has Style for Spring, maybe HYGTG? IKP or OOTW suited better for Fall, then we could have Wildest Dreams for Winter release (I doubt they will actually release it though).

By the end of the year it ll be above 3 million which almost no albums make it to anymore yes teenage dream's sales is fine-ish, but 1989's is unbelievably great and it actually match her singles success. teenage dream will go down as one of the biggest era in pop music, 3 million is pretty underwhelming honestly. and taylor is doing it without a rerelease.. no contest here. plus katy is lacking critical acclaim umm 0 grammys. taylor is surely will get several next year, if not next month. not trying to create a fight here cuz its just black n white fact. numbers dont lie.

TAYLOR SWIFT'S RADIO RULE Hey Gary, Taylor Swift is having a fantastic year. Perhaps this will be her best year yet, wouldn't you say? Here's something that I've noticed regarding how much radio loves her: she currently tops the Adult Contemporary chart with "Shake It Off" for a fourth consecutive week (and eighth total), while she leads the Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts with "Blank Space" for a sixth and fifth week, respectively. That means that Taylor's been holding the top spot at all three pop radio formats for four weeks now. How rare is that? Thanks, Rick Thomas Frankfort, Kentucky Hi Rick, Great observation. To answer your question, I looked back at each weekly No. 1 in the nearly two decades that all three charts have existed side-by-side-by-side. (Adult Contemporary dates back to 1961, Pop Songs started in 1992 and Adult Pop Songs spun off from AC in 1996.) Since 1996, just four acts have topped all three charts simultaneously, with Swift scoring the second-longest such triple reign. The other three acts all dominated with one song concurrently: 5 weeks, Celine Dion, "Because You Loved Me" (1996) 4 weeks, Taylor Swift, "Blank Space" (Pop Songs, Adult Pop Songs), "Shake It Off" (AC) (2015) 2 weeks, Adele, "Rolling in the Deep" (2011) 1 week, Sam Smith, "Stay With Me" (2014) Swift is in esteemed company. Clearly, it takes a combination of a hit (or, in Swift's case, hits) palatable to all three formats – i.e., cool enough for top 40 radio (Pop Songs) but adult-friendly enough to quickly win over the more conservative AC format. It's more common for a multi-format smash to top all three charts, but generally, it rules Pop Songs or Adult Pop Songs before fading at those formats and then, after building enough familiarity, crowning AC, a la Pharrell Williams' "Happy," John Legend's "All of Me" or, going back further, Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry." Meanwhile, Swift's simultaneous reign on all three charts with different songs emphasizes the strength of "Blank Space" and the sustainability of "Shake It Off" (the latter of which also led Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs before hitting No. 1 on AC). Also notably, three of the songs listed above have tripled up at No. 1 since 2011 after none did for 15 years. That's partially due to AC's modernization. As pure pop music has ruled pop radio in recent years (squeezing out rock and hip-hop), many big hits have been easily playable for AC. On the Jan. 31 AC chart, in fact, the top half of the 30-position AC chart consists entirely of top 10 hits on Pop Songs except for Colbie Caillat's "Try." In contrast, 10 years ago this week, AC was very much finding hits exclusive to the format, like Phil Collins' "Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away," Rod Stewart's "What a Wonderful World" (featuring Stevie Wonder) and Elton John's "Answer in the Sky." So, it's a combination of chart timing, AC's evolution and, of course, Swift's evolution, reinforcing just how hit-packed her 1989 is (and that's before we get to "Style," which should be the set's third multi-format monster). It's almost easy now to forget that just a few months ago Swift's full-on segue from country to pop was a bit controversial (… why couldn't have #DeflateGate happened then when no one would've noticed?) But, Swift is continuing to swell her following exponentially even almost a decade into her career. 1989 has been a "game-changer for Taylor," says Chris Patyk, program director of Pop Songs reporter KEGY (Energy 103.7) San Diego. "She went completely, pure pop and, in the process, is gaining new fans. "It has to be exciting for her." Link: www.billboard.com/articles/co...fts?page=0%2C2

Am I the only one thinking this album has a shot at going Diamond? I mean, it's only really on single #2 and it's already sold 4 million? Crazy

I apologize to whoever I doubted about a month ago about the sales potential of this album. I told a poster they were speaking too soon about the heights it could reach, I said it was best to just wait and see how January goes. The fact that she pulled in 92,000 last week and is set to have little or no drop at 80-90,000 this week--now it's time to think about how high this could go. I typically always guess more conservatively, what is everyone else thinking? Just a few weeks ago I was saying no to 6m by the end of the year, but I take it back. Even if Fearless in the end is still her biggest seller, 1989 will be the most memorable.

Am I the only one thinking this album has a shot at going Diamond? I mean, it's only really on single #2 and it's already sold 4 million? Crazy The thing with Taylor though is that she is very front loaded. Roughly 25% of Red's total first week sales came in the first week, even with 5 different singles. This isn't shading her sales at all, because 4 million is fantastic either way, I'm just pointing out her trends. It seems like Taylor's huge fanbase doesn't wait to go buy her album, they all turn out in the first few weeks. I don't think 1989 will be AS front loaded as Red or Speak Now, but I doubt she will go diamond. I think she will top out between 6-7 million. I'd love to be wrong though ;)

Yeah, I think diamond will be difficult to find unless she truly has many really popular hits after this and possibly a re-release and then maybe even something else having to happen. Like, winning AOTY and performing at the Superbowl next year or something LOL. And by popular hit I mean on the level of Blank Space so wildly popular and not just popular. So, ultimately, I don't think it will happen, but she will easily get around the 5-6 million range which is INSANE with a chance to go higher.
