I'm thinking she'll end in the six million range too. I could see something like 6.3 million.

Don't know if it was mentioned, but...
M. Swift fared very well on the Village Voice Pazz N Jop critics poll. More than 600 critics chose their top 10 albums and singles for 2014 (I believe the critics critics choose how to distribute 30 points among their top 10 albums). On the albums list, 1989 finished at No. 7, with 71 top 10 mentions.
On the songs list (which simply ranks by number of mentions, with no points distribution from participants), "Blank Space" is No. 3, with 59 top 10 mentions, while "Shake it Off" finished No. 4, with 53. "Style" tied for No. 56, with 12; "Out of the Woods" tied for No. 74 with 9. A few others placed further down, with 2 or 1 mention each- one is labeled "Track 3," thus "Style" would pick up two additional mentions and tie for No. 49).

I think 6M is definitely a possibility depending on how successful the following singles are, but that's going to take a lot of creativity from them. I hate doubting Taylor and her team, but Taylor is very front loaded. Although 1989 seems to have stayed stable and there are no signs of it dropping any time soon, the consistency of sales are based on Taylor's popularity, curiosity factor, word of mouth and most importantly - Blank Space and SIO's success. If Style turns out to be a massive hit, this should certainly continue to massacre every other album out there, but if Style turns out to be like 22 ( :'() then it should probably top out at 5M...I think? Maybe that's low balling it, but she's 3 million away from outselling Fearless so that's probably not going to happen.
I do think this will be her second most successful album though (in terms of sales.) Perhaps her most successful worldwide?
But then againm I think there are a lot of factors to consider. She's already sold over 10 million records in the US alone...

^ If we're talking purely about "success," we'd have to account for market decline since Fearless was released. Releasing an album in 2014 and selling 6 million is more impressive than releasing an album in 2008 and selling 7 million. Worldwide, I think the album already is her biggest hit. Sure, it hasn't quite outsold Red yet and it's still behind Fearless, but there's no doubt Taylor is bigger now worldwide than ever. SIO and BS are already the biggest pair of hits she's had from an album and I'd be shocked if there weren't more on the way.

Red went on to sell over one million copies post Christmas (despite the lukewarm receptions to "22" and "Everything Has Changed"). Should it follow the same trend, it would put 1989 at about 4.7 million. Given this album is loaded with much more radio-ready tracks I see no less than 5 million for this, even if the bottom completely falls out of this era, but I highly doubt that will happen. I think high 5s, low 6s is a safe bet. Six seems reasonable if everything lines up and her hit streak continues (which I am sure it will).
I mean for comparative purposes, Red was already down to 30k a week at this point.

Winning AOTY at the Grammy's next year would give this a substantial sales boost, too. #fingerscrossed

This is random, but I actually met Taylor last night in Nashville. She's surprisingly really sweet, and greeted everyone who talked to her. It really took me by surprise!

Part of the problem was that she gave a very bad live performance that night. That wouldn't happen again.

Taylor Swift on Madonna Praise: 'Now I'm Dead'Madonna has flattened Taylor Swift… with a compliment. The reigning Queen Of Pop has invited Taylor into her realm by suggesting the ever-rising superstar was a "princess" of the genre. Speaking to Australian presenter Richard Wilkins for Network Nine's Today show, Madonna said, "It's good to have princesses [of pop]. It means there's lots of pretty dresses around. I like Taylor Swift. I think she writes some really catchy pop songs. I can't get them out of my head." Taylor responded on her Tumblr page with a suitably swift riposte. "Thanks now I'm dead" (She followed with the gushing hashtags #HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DEAL WITH THIS #BE COOL TAYLOR STOP BEING EMBARRASSING). There was a time when Madonna couldn't get Kylie Minogue out of her head, and she proved it in 2000 by wearing a "Kylie" t-shirt on stage (and of course, the Aussie singer wore a "Madonna" top to return the favor). Surely it can't be long before Taylor is spotted in a "Madonna" t-shirt. Madonna is currently promoting her latest album Rebel Heart, tracks from which were leaked online before Christmas, four-and-a-half-months ahead of schedule. Madonna's manager Guy Oseary told Billboard his ward was "devastated and sickened" by the hack-job on her album, and he said it prompted the surprise pre-release of six songs from the album on Dec. 20 on iTunes. Earlier this month, police in Israel arrested a local man on suspicion of hacking into the veteran pop star's computer and distributing Rebel Heart demos. Taylor's latest effort 1989 hasn't had any such problem. The album recently passed the 4 million sales milestone in the U.S. She's now sold more than 27 million career albums in her homeland. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop-shop/6451113/taylor-swift-on-madonna-praise-now-im-dead

Definitely doesn't surprise me, she seems like an absolute sweetheart to her fans. Probably more than any other artist out there, at least that I'm aware of. Congrats! And I'm glad to hear she still hangs around Nashville sometimes, despite moving away from the country genre. I wasn't sure if she was still going to keep her house there.

Taylor Swift Trademarks 'This Sick Beat' And Other Lyrics From 1989T-Swizzle literally OWNS phrases from her new album! Find out why here... 09:42, Thursday, 29 January 2015 by Joanne Dorken Taylor Swift has trademarked a number of lyrics from her chart-topping album 1989. According to legal database Justia, T-Swizzle has requested a legal trademark from the US government over phrases such as ‘This Sick Beat’ and ‘Party Like It’s 1989’. She is also thought to have applied to trademark the lyrics ‘Could Show You Incredible Things’, 'Nice to Meet You, Where You Been?' and 'Cause We Never Go Out of Style’. The move means the prevention of others wanting to use the phrases on products such as Christmas stockings, guitar straps, whalebone and removal tattoos as well as typewriters, pot holders, whips, saddlery and non-medicated toiletries. image: www.mtv.co.uk/sites/default/files/styles/vimn_video_embed/public/mtv_uk/articles/2014/08/19/taylor-swift-shake-it-off-butts_article_story_large.jpg?itok=YmM4ZoSjTaylor Swift - Shake It Off Read more at www.mtv.co.uk/taylor-swift/news/taylor-swift-trademarks-this-sick-beat-and-other-lyrics-from-1989#63OlGre18Drpi3I0.99

Super Bowl Exclusive: Pepsi's Adam Harter on Hiring Katy Perry, Considering Taylor Swift & More Articles Super Bowl 2015 News By Andrew Hampp | January 30, 2015 6:00 PM EST When vetting talent, how crucial is an artist's relationship with a competing beverage brand for consideration. -- i.e., could Taylor Swift, a Diet Coke spokesperson, ever be considered under Pepsi's sponsorship? For a performance as big as the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show, every major artist is in the consideration set. I think competitive relationships are one thing to be considered, but there's several other elements that we look at as well. It's not .

I like her but that's a little ridiculous to me... just my opinion, though. I believe this was due to the fact that she ran into some trouble having her lucky number 13 on some tour merch due to a fashion brand called Lucky 13 threatening to sue and probably just wanted to avoid that for this tour's merch and such

Like, she definitely isn't the first or only who has done it.
