Well, it does take a Donkey and a Bull to make this a trainwreck. Please, no one pick up the pieces!

jhomes87, What's funny is most people who are my age (30s-40s) that I knew growing up love the current mainstream Country sound but weren't big fans of it when we were teenagers. Maybe that's cause it's homogenized, maybe it's something else but it is something. I loved Country from the 90s and respect it before that but I grew up a "pop kid" who knew of Kenny, Dolly, Reba, The Judds, Ronnie and Conway, not George (until my Country conversion) so maybe I'm more 'forgiving' for genre sound expansion or erosion than others. I do wish there was at least a little more 'depth' to what radio plays so that a great song like "I Hold On" would've sold boatloads and the ditties wouldn't but I clearly don't know the answer to that equation... As for this one, It will certainly be interesting to see how it plays out on Radio.

I think it's pretty interesting that Kyle Jacobs co-wrote this. The same Kyle Jacobs who co-wrote "More Than A Memory", "Nashville Without You", and "Little Bit Gypsy" for his wife Kellie Pickler.
Quite the difference or significant drop-off, depending on how you want to view it.

Hello "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk."

Hello "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk." I just found that interesting. Obviously songwriters want to write fun songs, but the fact that this song is so far removed from other co-writes he's had is why it's eyebrow raising. I actually agree with you on this song being a hit. Perhaps not singles chart wise but the digital sales and buzz will certainly be created by "Donkey". Arista wouldn't bother taking a risk with this song if they didn't believe that it could have a positive impact on Jerrod's sales and name recognition. I though find it disheartening that "Donkey" will be a single at all let alone the second one off the album.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he co-wrote "When The Credits Roll" from George Straits latest album too, which is an outstanding song.

Most songwriters have a "quick-buck" song. Some more than others. But let's not forget Jamey Johnson co-wrote Honky Tonk Badonkadonk - so we can forgive Kyle for this. Other songwriters seem to only write these throwaway hits, and I am not so easy to forgive. (FGL, Chase Rice, Thomas Rhett, I am looking at you.)

This makes me wonder what his wife thinks of the song, since Kellie has become more traditional in recent years and has seemed to steer towards more quality material. It's definitely interesting that he was a part of this co-write.

It's definitely interesting that he was a part of this co-write. I think that they just wanted to write a stupid song and nothing more. There is still much blame to go to Jerrod and his label for putting this song on his album let alone release it. And every songwriter wants to write fun diddy type songs, but there is certainly a difference between good quality fun and bad quality fun. The other two writers are David Tolliver who was one half of the duo Halfway To Hazard, who had two singles in 2007 with "Daisy" (#39), and "Devil And The Cross" (#50). Along with Fred Wilhelm who has numerous co-writes including Walker Hayes single "Why Wait For Summer" (#42) in 2011 and "Dearly Beloved" by Faith Hill off her Fireflies album.

The mp3 file under AllAccess Cool New Music still includes the line "ride that a**" so it would seem that they're not going to do a radio edit there..

I still think that it's destined for an early flameout. 2014's "Bob That Head" if not worse.

Well it appears WYRK is one of the 39 first week adds. I feel like a parent when they say to their kid, I'm not mad, I'm just very disappointed. :(

I love Jerrod. He's quirky and really funny...hardly ever serious. So, this does not surprise me at all. Let's see if it crashes and burns or if it flies up the charts. :)

Between this and "Drink to That All Night", I think Jerrod is actually making worse music than Florida Georgia Line. That's quite a feat.

Jerrod's latest music is, at least to me, much more unlistenable than FGL. Jerrod has without a doubt jumped the shark for my ears and has become my least favorite artist currently on mainstream country radio.

Jerrod Niemann is making a joke of himself with songs like "Drink to That All Night" and this. Never really liked him or his music to begin with, and this stuff is just proving that I was right not to. I wonder if he even knows (or cares) how ridiculous he is making himself look. It's making him money and perhaps he is satisfied with the music he's recording, who knows?
However, this song is catchy. "Gonna ride that donkey donkey down to the honky tonky" can get stuck in your head. This song isn't nearly as atrocious as DTTAN was. But by recording these type of songs he's just making it impossible for me to take him at all seriously as an artist. He just needs to stop.
