Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, and Prince were the other winners of that award. It has nothing to do with any ability to have current chart success. I think their chart achievements definitely outweigh that of Ms. Lopez.

These awards sometimes are given to someone for reasons other than what the stated intention is- i.e. act has a new album coming out.
As for "First Love," we'll see how it performs after next week. The initial start isn't that great, but, as mentioned, she hasn't had consistent chart success in some time, so it's not really expected to be a smash in the long run.

Does anyone think this song is mastered badly? I bought it off Itunes and it sounds like it's from the 80's.

lololol lot's of pressed trolls in here. Be sure to tune in this Sunday to see her snatch dat ICON award. JENNIFER LOPEZ β First Love: 6.365 (+0.871) These awards sometimes are given to someone for reasons other than what the stated intention is- i.e. act has a new album coming out. It's not like anybody can get this award, new album out or not. You have to have the credentials first. Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, and Prince were the other winners of that award. It has nothing to do with any ability to have current chart success. I think their chart achievements definitely outweigh that of Ms. Lopez. That means s**t. She's had so much success in her own right to be worthy of this award.

It's an award from a chart-oriented publication, but, Insatiable- do you actually believe that she would be among the top choices for this award over all of the legendary acts out there who have had bigger chart success? It's a combo of factors, as stated. And it's not "trolling" to point that out.
Regardless of that, it's good promo for any act who's spotlighted for something like this.
Back to "First Love"- currently No. 387 on iTunes. it undoubtedly will advance with a couple of performances.

That question is so irrelevant. We can literally say the same about so many legendary artists who we don't *think* would be considered over other legendary artists. We can go on all day and speculate, it's moot. The point is she is being awarded and is deserving of so. Who cares if so and so didn't get one yet? On topic JENNIFER LOPEZ - First Love: 6.772 (+ 0.407) There was some confusion in the OP about her love interest in the video. She confirmed it's actually top model David Gandy {Spoiler} Mmm papi ;)

Does anyone think this song is mastered badly? I bought it off Itunes and it sounds like it's from the 80's. Then it would actually be mastered well since current mastering techniques now make songs entirely too loud and sometimes end up distorting the original recording.

Damn, Jennifer and Katy Perry always know how to cast their lead men. William Levy and the guy from the Teenage Dream video... enough said.

Z-100 in NY has spun it 42 times in the last week (2m+ audience), while KIIS in LA accounts for nearly 1m of the audience total. Plus, the overall total would be from all stations, not just pop.

Do they move up based on how many spins they have or how much audience they have? I think it should be the latter.

Audience makes more sense to me. But most of the time if you get more plays, you get more audience, right?

^Depends on the market size- 20 spins on one large-market station (i.e. New York) could result in more audience than 100 spins on a handful or more of smaller markets.

I actually quite liked J-Lo's hits until Jenny From The Block. After that, I don't think she released anything as good as any of the singles from her first two albums (*her* singles. Not the Ja Rule ones.)
