I think Shania should have a shot in the next 5 years or so. Toby Keith as well.

I hope Shania makes it in. She certainly deserves to.

I hope Shania makes it in. She certainly deserves to. She did sell a ton of albums.. But I wonder if the relative brevity of her hit-making career might count against her.

Shania did have a number of hits and was an important figure in 90's country music. But I think with folks like Brooks & Dunn, Toby, Travis, Clint, Whitley, Hank and Dwight still ahead of her, I figure she still has a deacde or so before she is seriously considered.

If they really want to appease most fans and followers of the Hall Of Fame, I would say that they add in Whitley in modern and Hank Jr in veteran. I'm not saying that these would be my picks but those seem to be the names that have the most buzz behind them whenever a discussion about 'people who have not been inducted' is brought up.

The Judds and Tanya Tucker would be some great female choices.

Toby Keith should be inducted in the next few years. I think with the backlog of artists they have at this point, and the fact that Toby was always kind of an outsider (not in terms of radio play, but in terms of the industry as a whole) I feel like it will be much longer than a few years. But he will get in there at some point. There is no denying the success in his career.

This year's inductees are: Brooks & Dunn, Jerry Bradley (non-performer category) and Ray Stevens.

Thrilled for Brooks & Dunn. Great choice and very well deserved.

Ray Stevens is an odd choice given how many overdue bigger names are in that veteran category.
Like Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Williams Jr., Tanya Tucker, Rose Maddox, and really many more. I’m not saying Ray didn’t deserve it but he is such a left field choice.
Brooks & Dunn are well deserving but I had a few other names I wanted to see before them. Dwight Yoakam and The Judds need to be in soon. The Kendalls as well.
As for Jerry I’m not that familiar with him though I’ve heard his name. That’s always an interesting category because they’re not usually “celebrities”.

Ray Stevens, Brooks & Dunn, and Jerry Bradley will be officially inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame medallion ceremony today.
With this class now in, looking ahead to next year...who are the frontrunners?
My early prediction:
Veteran: Tanya Tucker Modern: Marty Stuart Songwriter: Guy Clark

My early prediction: Veteran: Tanya Tucker Modern: Marty Stuart Songwriter: Guy Clark With all the new attention on Tanya I see it being a high possibility she gets in this year. And Marty’s involvement in the Ken Burns documentary may help him. I think either Dwight Yoakam or Ricky Skaggs get the Modern category though first. The modern category is going to be interesting the next decade as the 90’s artists are all eligible now. They may be in his first year of eligibility but I feel like Keith Urban and Brad Paisley will be in much sooner than those who came before them.

Also the Modern category should go to Tim McGraw I think. The Veteran category I'd love to see Earl Thomas Conley get it.

Dwight first then 😅* Tim will get in for sure in the next few years but it feels early yet for him, no doubt he’ll be one of he first few from the 90’s to make it. Only Brooks & Dunn are in for those who started in the 90’s, though Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks and Vince Gill all had their biggest impact in the 90’s. Oh and Earl does deserve a spot eventually, but he’s not eligible this year. For the year after they pass artists are deemed ineligible so they don’t get in just due to sympathy. I think that’s what has held up Lynn Anderson’s induction as well, she passed around the time there was talk of her being close to getting in. Unfortunately once they pass it becomes less likely for them to get in. *forgetting Ricky makes me feel super embarrassed considering how often I read HOF material and was championing his induction for a few years lol

The more I look into it, the "backlog" that is always brought up in reference to the Country Music Hall of Fame might be the worst in the Songwriter's Category..
Some names still waiting for induction:
Dallas Frazier Sonny Throckmorton Dean Dillon John Prine Shel Silverstein

This year's inductees should be announced next month. At this point, I'd be pretty surprised if Tanya Tucker wasn't inducted in the veteran category. For the modern category, I would imagine that The Judds are soon, but would the country industry actually induct two female acts in the same year? Doubtful, imo.

If it was my choice, I would go with Maddox Brothers & Rose in veteran and The Judds in modern. Then I'd say Hank Jr. and Whitley for 2021. (I can see the idea of Tucker getting in this year, but I'm not sure if the Grammy wins are enough to push her over the edge in voting).

Has The Hall said yet when the announcement will be? No date as of yet. Last year the induction announcement was March 18th, so hopefully within the next week or two we should find out the announcement date for 2020.

I have been so disappointed the last 2 years when Tanya was not one of the inductees, so I am hoping this is finally her year.

With everything going on, I wonder if there will be any 2020 inductions this year. The announcement should have came around the time everything shut down. Has anyone heard anything regarding the 2020 class?

Has anyone heard anything regarding the 2020 class? They have done the voting and know who the inductees are. They are just trying to determine the right time to announce them.

They should really just announce the nominees. They don't have to have ceremony details, but these people have waited a lifetime to get in. They should know who they are.

This week's Billboard's Country Update (p.2) says the 2020 inductees would be revealed in a month or so.
