Maybe you AAA-haters should just go back to Active and let us have Alternative for a few years. Not everyone who hates "Stolen Dance" hates big AAA crossover hits.

AAA is winning the custody I'm kinda curious, do you guys hated/liked "Ho Hey" back when it smashed hard in 2012? 2012 must have been interesting in this forum a new wave of bands and a new era of alternative, fun., Imagine Dragons, Of Monsters and Men, The Lumineers, Grouplove, etc...

I really started getting into following the charts in 2013, so I enjoy most of that heavy Alt-Pop crossover era of Alternative (Sweater Weather, Safe and Sound, Radioactive, Demons, Pompeii, Sail, etc.) However I can't stand Ho Hey. (though I'm not a huge fan of Mumford or Vance Joy either, so maybe it's just the indie folk that I'm pretty selective with) Such an unremarkable song that lasted way too long on way too many formats.

I have no issues with the AAA chart. Many of the bands I grew up listening to only get radio play on there these days as their time on Alternative is over. I should probably listen to more of the stuff on there as I probably only know about 1/3 of the songs on the chart.

I liked Ho Hey for a bit. I was glad to see a folk song such as that do as well as it did but in terms of folky music that I do like, that wouldn't be anywhere near the top of the pile. There are much better songs.

Unless AAA welcome Pinback with open arms, I have no reason to listen to the format, though kudos for representing Guster. (Besides, I don't have an AAA station.)

Lol, I actually heavily disliked that point in Alternative. All of those Alt-pop bands making waves basically took out all the songs/bands/type of music I knew and loved. Granted, the format's gotten better since then, but my God was that a terrible time. Also, "Ho Hey" can kiss my ass.

AAA acts such as The Decemberists, Spoon, The 1975 (Chocolate was a hit), Boy & Bear, Broken Bells, St. Paul & The Broken Bones should receive more Altetnative success. I also like Ray LaMontagne (based on the later singles he released sans She's the One) and The Head and the Heart.

I liked his later singles too (specifically the last two singles he released). Shame Stay With Me only went top 20 on AAA.

Check "Come Pick Me Up", "To Be Young is to Be Sad, is to be High", "New York New York" and "When the Stars Go Blue". Old, but still fresh to this day.

(And not even like that "Stuck EP" nonsense, I really do hate it)

I think their cover of George Michael's "Faith" is even worse

AAA is not soley made up for songs like "Stolen Dance", "Riptide" and "Budapest". There are a lot of good songs on the AAA chart. So what's your defination of a AAA hater?

I happen to like "Re-Arranged", "Break Stuff", "Boiler" and a few other Limp Bizkit songs. Their best song by far is "Head for the Barricade" though, simply for a certain line in the song..

People who go into threads of AAA crossover hits and complain relentlessly about the songs - and considering how lengthy the chart runs of those songs can be, that's a LOT of complaining.

IMO Re-Arranged is great. Nookie is brutal, and my god, Faith is terrible. George Michael himself even said that Limp Bizkit butchered his song.
I actually kinda tolerate Break Stuff though, and I have no issue with My Way or Rollin'

I've been reading this thread trying to figure out exactly why people hate this song.
I love my Pop/Hot AC songs and I rarely venture into this forum... but I really love Stolen Dance. It's catchy and fun and different. Why the hate??
(btw... I'm sure you guys are a lot more experienced than me so I'm sure you have a valid reason for not liking it... just wondering what that reasons is!)

There's a really really vocal minority of people that have hated this song since its release (not naming anyone in particular Dr.Indie). The recent negative posts have been because of its massive longevity on the format that some have felt isn't necessarily deserved (10 weeks at #1, and has lasted almost a year at this point, and it's been very close to going recurrent multiple times but then recovered) Compare it to the people that hated on Happy and now Uptown Funk on Pop because of how long those songs lasted at the top, even though they had mostly positive reception at their releases. I love the song, and have enjoyed it since I first heard it in late 2013, but there's a time for every song to go recurrent and pass the torch to new tracks.

I'll give my two cents as to why I dislike this song (although I already have multiple times in the past, this is just for billybop who wants to know).
It's boring, first of all. The instrumentation is not interesting to the slightest extent. Some acoustic strums and hand-claps is not sufficient especially when it repeats for over five and a half minutes. Second of all, the singer is extremely annoying. He sings like he's bored out of his mind, and draws out words annoyingly for unnecessarily long lengths ("I want you by my siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide"). There's just no life or energy to this. The lyrics make me want to punch someone ("do the boogie all night long"? what the fuck?).

I found it chill and catchy at first, and enjoyed the song for awhile, enough for it to go Top 10 on my personal chart. Then it hit #1 and stayed there for eons and it burned out on me and I got tired of it and now it's just staying on the chart instead of going recurrent and I still hear it all the time so it's annoying as hell.
