It seems like they're still promoting this way more than "What Are You Waiting For?". I wonder if this is Republic's try to get Rock back in the mainstream? There's still tweets about this from the band and Republic, but zilch for "WAYWF?".

There's still tweets about this from the band and Republic, but zilch for "WAYWF?". Well its subject matter and general sound is way more interesting than WAYWF. I imagine the band are much more exited about Edge than WAYWF, but I'm surprised Republic share that interest. Usually record companies want to push the mid tempo/pop stuff cause it sells more.

You would think the label would go for the one that would obviously be more successful. I wonder how they will proceed about this.

I actually want this to go #1 now as soon as possible to get rid of Pretty Reckless since I don't think "Room To Breathe" and "World On Fire" have enough energy left to get them to #1

'Bottoms Up' was probably more catchy but this will end up being more memorable I think.

This should be a fairly easy #1 for them. 4 of the 6 songs above them are declining, while The Pretty Reckless is bound to fall and Slash is moving up fairly slowly.

I think I can give a visual: Active Rock:11 7 NICKELBACK Edge Of A Revolution 1209 1116 93 3.156 Right now, it's gaining just as much as "World On Fire" with a 149 spin difference. This has a slightly larger bullet than Slash, but with a bunch of songs dropping at an even faster pace (Nothing More's track lost 30+ spins today), it could reach top 5 over the weekend, possibly tomorrow. My bet is that it will reach #1 after Slash does.

The only thing that could block it from #1 is the new Foo Fighters single. Hopefully it reaches #1 before it's released. That should get #1 after a month or so.

You guys are late to the party. I had already predicted Pretty Reckless hitting #1(already happened) and Slash would be next. Nickelback will follow. Not because of spins, but because it's great Rock'n'Roll.

You know it's cool to hate Nickelback when No Fixed Address is registered under Sputnik and people are already rating it 1 star. Like come on, this is ridiculous. It isn't even out yet. How is it already bad? www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=170557

The people are too pretentious and elitist for my liking, seeing as they like to bash almost anything that gets radio play. They also like to assume things, as you've shown.

Also Shadows in the Dark I wouldn't say that, given Tool, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, Thid Eye Blind, Modest Mouse and Weezer are amongst their highest rated albums.

And no they did not base them off the singles and you know it. Actually, people were liking "Edge of a Revolution" on there when it first premiered. It's just another 'let's hate Nickelback because it's cool!' situation.

Haha but naww, there will be more 1 star ratings incoming, it was just posted a few days ago. Plus most people don't even know they have singles out considering Republic is doing a sh*tty job promoting them.

Nickleback is doing great where they should be doing great. On the Rockcharts. That's all that matters to me.

This could make it to #1 before Slash. It's only 70 spins behind, and is trending faster. This would hold till Foos release their single.

Just please dislodge Pretty Reckless until Foo Fighters can come and save rock music again.
As for Sputnik, they pretty much give good reviews to anything I like so they're okay in my book.
Pitchfork on the other hand...

Pitchfork on the other hand... Funny you say that, because now that I think of it, regardless of what the trends are, the Foos and the RHCP usually come out around the same time with their middle fingers up toward those trends and dominate the charts anyway. When generic not-very-alternative-at-all post grunge was starting to own the alt charts in the early 2000s, One By One and By The Way were like LOL NOPE. When very poppy emo pop punk and the most generic corporate stuff we've seen from veterans like Incubus, Linkin Park, and Weezer was all the rave from like 06-08ish, In Your Honor, Stadium Arcadium, and Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace were like LOL NOPE. When indie started to take over in the early 2010s, I'm With You and Wasting Light were like LOL NOPE.

And hopefully in 2014, when indie has pretty much overrun the Alternative format, Sonic Highways will be like LOL DEFINITELY NOPE and have more than one single steamroll their way to 8+ week #1s. (Might have to wait until next year or so for RHCP. )

I don't think so, mainly because the Foo Fighters are like the anti-Nickelback. Despite being so popular, both alternative/indie and rock fans of all age groups tend to like them. They're very well respected so much so that I even know several hipsters who admit to being Foo fans. I think the lead single will be a #1, and the second single will do very well too, perhaps also going #1. 102.1 The Edge and KROQ (which are two of probably the top 3-4 biggest alt station on the continent) are both obsessed with Dave Grohl, which just has to matter somehow .

Top 3 on Active:
9 3 NICKELBACK Edge Of A Revolution 1374 1175 199 3.62
This should pass Slash before the published chart on Sunday night. It should be around 300 plays lower than The Pretty Reckless then. My guess is that this hits #1 in two weeks.

Listening to "Edge Of A Revolutuion" and "Shakin' Hands" back to back. The two choruses of the songs are very similiar sounding. How high did Shakin' Hands" peak on the charts?
