Not to derail the thread but I never understood why ET was so massive. California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework - #1 records, okay. But ET??? I LOVE ET!!!!! For shame... </3

Could Katy finally be falling from Cloud 9? She was gonna have to face this realization just like all the other major pop girls anyway. Roar and Dark Horse do not signal a fall from Cloud 9. And it would tough to make an argument regarding the other songs because they're so vastly inferior to the Teenage Dream singles. It's easy to assume those singles were just doing well because they're Katy Perry singles, but they were also all damn good, radio-friendly, catchy songs. The PRISM singles just aren't. I mean - Birthday or TIHWD vs. Last Friday Night? Unconditionally vs. Firework? Just no comparison... Actually it would be Unconditionally vs. Teenage Dream, but that's even more of a landslide. Dark Horse vs. Firework is pretty equal. Even tho I prefer Birthday, E.T. as a single beats it. LFN also beats TIHWD. However, I prefer Roar to California Gurls, and it was bigger.

I guess I just don't get it. I get that it did really well. I get that. HUMONGO NUMBER ONE SMASH WITH CRAZY #1 SPINS? No. I never got the MASSIVE love for ET either. I mean, I like it alright but I don't put it up in the heavens like some do. Maybe it might enlighten us if the worshippers could detail a bit just what made it so flawless for them. But this is OT I suppose. As for TIHWD, I now tolerate it but I'm still not fully on board and am still ready for WOA.

E.T. was the most futuristic/forward-sounding song on the radio at that time. You just knew it was headed straight for #1.

E.T is a great song. It's one of Katy's best.
Hot and Cold, Teenage Dream, Firework are the holy grail.
i love all Katy's singles tbh. This Is How We Do is my least fav of hers, but i still like it.

"E.T." was more or less an updated/duplicated "All The Things She Said".

Wow, this is only getting played about 1x a day on NY's Z100! They have been huge early Katy supporters in the past no?

ET is transcendental, on another level, boy it's my lucky star. I wanna walk on its wavelengths, and be there when it vibrates, for it I'd risk it all. <3 <3 <3
Damn I miss the TD era. Talking about the flawless ET in a thread for this throwaway P.O.S. song makes me angry Katy had to be so lazy with Prism's material (excluding DH of course).

I absolutely loved the Benny Bennassi Remix of E.T. back in the day, but today I love alot more the original. But then again, I also loved All The Things She Said by T.A.T.U.

E.T. was just absolutely perfect. It was also a risky, edgy, and ballsy single choice. Complete standout track on TD (I'm getting chills writing this) and the gamble really paid off big time for her.

Yeah, "E.T" was my life. That's the song that convinced me to buy Teenage Dream. And I'm glad the Kanye version was not the one on the album.

To be honest, it wasn't too much of a gamble since they got Kanye on the track. I wonder how it would have performed without him.

Yeah, "E.T" was my life. That's the song that convinced me to buy Teenage Dream. And I'm glad the Kanye version was not the one on the album. I would get SO pissed hearing that one on the radio with the flawless oiginal bridge being cut. I didn't mind the video version though where they combined the bridge rap with the original bridge. It flowed surprisingly well together.

I agree about the video version.
